Hi!
My husband and I will be in the Philadelphia area at the end of the month. We already have plans to visit Philadelphia for Independence Hall, etc. and to visit Valley Forge.
On our last day, we will have several hours between our show at Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster, PA, and our flight out of Philadelphia.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Sharon

If you like history, you may like the Museum of American Revolution. It's easy to do in a couple hours. Also the Art Museum, can meander around there, Eakins oval, check out the Rocky steps.
And don't forget to try a cheesesteak! Lots of great food places in Philly, if you want to narrow down your likes.
I would also be aware of sports schedules. If the Phillies are playing, even if away, brings people out and to different places for various reasons. If the Sixers or Flyers (unlikely!) make into playoffs, could be even busier around. It's a city that revolves around its sports teams!

Philly has the Mutter Museum, with medical oddities. It’s on my bucket list.

Philly has the Mutter Museum, with medical oddities. It’s on my bucket list. I think they've been under a lot of pressure to stop displaying human remains and they were going to revamp things so I'm not sure it's the same. I was fortunate enough to see it some years back and loved it. I used to follow them on IG but they stopped posting their oddities due to backlash.

Reading Terminal Market might be fun for you. Then walk around the area and see City Hall, Dillworth and Love Parks. Get your picture taken in front of the Love Statue. Grab a cheesesteak somewhere or a DiNic’s pork sandwich in RTM.

Shocking fact I learned when I lived there: "authentic" cheese steaks are made with cheese whiz. Not provolone. Proof that that place is uncivilized. Lol
I always love the Betsy Ross house and the Barnes museum. Elspeth's Alley has some cool really old homes in a quaint alley. There are old book shops and neat places like that, easy to get to. Some pubs to have a pint if you enjoy that. The entire area that you'd even want to see is about 8 square blocks (ok, I might be exaggerating, but not by much) and the rest is, uh, best left alone.
The Liberty Bell was the most underwhelmed I've ever been by anything, ever. It's small and it sucks. I was picturing something huge like it would hide Quasimodo... You could barely hide a toddler under the Liberty Bell. Meh
Basically I just hate the entire city, it's broke and broke down and full of broken people. It's depressing. It smells like cigarette smoke and despair. Except the museums are pretty cool and the history is interesting, and there are a lot of nice statues. I recommend the hop on double decker bus tour but I doubt you have time for that. Absolutely the best way to see what's worth seeing and ride on past the rest.
I would go do some Amish shopping in Lancaster, though even that is kind of a sus thing to support when you learn what terrible people they can be (child and animal abuse, small minded "shunning" each other, how they really feel about us "English", etc) and find that they're also selling a ton of made in China tourist crap along with authentic quality stuff.
When I go back to PA I tend to stick to Bucks Co and north to Bethlehem--so much more to offer (minus all the fantastic museums). I'm only adding this in case anyone thinks I hate all of PA. I don't. But I do hate most of Filthadelphia.
