Good morning. Dh and I decided to do a little getaway. First, we'll stop and visit his aunt and cousin. She's in assisted living and has dementia, so we want to spend time w/her while we can. She's always been a firecracker and has zero filter. It's actually, fun. What's on your menu? What are you up to today? How is everyone doing? Congratulations to our jeremysgirl's awesome dd, Chloe. She's an awesome person, just like her mama and I'm so very proud of her accomplishments over the past year. WTG! Enjoy a happy, calm and productive day, my tribe!

going to the gym this morning, continuing to do clean up and now I am starting to get out all the photo albums of my mother in law.. for the celebration.
dinner is probably salmon and salad. have to go to the store. and do laundry.. the mundane things of life.
did I tell you all that i got up early and got backpacking reservations for august? my nz daughter and her wife are coming over and the four of us are doing a short hike out to Shi Shi beach in the nw corner of washington state. in the early 60's, my family drove to the beach.. it is now a national park. I also made some camping reservations for mt rainier national park the week before. with three other adults going, my pack should be lighter.
dh would love to buy a tiny trailer.. I pointed out that renting one would be cheaper and more practical. he knows that that is true. we would have to pay for storage in idaho probably.

Today has been wild here, weather wise. We woke up to snow on the ground, which melted as it warmed. I managed to get out to the grocery store between rain showers, then after lunch we had a hailstorm! Apart from the grocery run, I have stayed in and worked on some projects - finishing my BuJo pages from our trip (I wanted to add some pictures) and working on my latest sweater. Dinner tonight is roast vegetable and goat cheese frittata. I’ve roasted the veg and will now wait until DH tells me he’s on the way home. jeremysgirl - congrats to Chloe on her wonderful achievement.

My dinner out last night with friends was so fun and the fish and chips were delicious.
DH has a recall for the tailgate on his truck. He got an appointment at the dealership this morning and drove into the city. When he got there, he was told that the parts aren’t available yet for the recall. So he got some breakfast at Tim Hortons and drove home!
It’s a cold rainy day here so no deck sitting today. I’ll finish switching over my winter to summer clothes and do some reading.
I was going to make a roast beef supper but DH said he didn’t feel like roast beef. I’ll let him decide then.

Happy Wednesday!
It's just a typical day at work with a few meetings sprinkled in over the day. I'm already ready for the weekend!
Tonight, I've got some pesto to use up so I took some chicken tenderloins out of the freezer and I'll have them with pesto pasta or couscous.
I hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven She sounds like DH's late aunt. She was his grandmother's twin. She was very feisty, and told us outright that her kids were assholes for not letting her cook anymore. She was a fun lady, and was so honored that we kept the letter she sent us when we got married, and was tickled that DH wrote the thank you note we sent her after. ntsf Sounds like fun! My dad has hiked Half Dome a few times. I get winded just thinking about that hike... sueg Mmmm, goat cheese. That all sounds delicious. cadoodlebug I love that idea - it sounds so awesome. taylortroop I hope your DH doesn't have to wait too long for parts. I just called the place where my little 'ru has been for almost a month, but it should be ready today! jeremysgirl So happy for you and Chloe!! This week's dinner is chicken and salads. I think I may do a shephard's pie next week. I had a follow up at the allergist this morning. She was aghast that I have the window open in the apartment since pollen is so bad right now, but I explained to her that we don't have AC just yet. (Stupid central air...) She did say I have some fluid in my ears and gunk in my nose, so double up on the nasal spray and Allegra. If that doesn't help, she wants me to do do a CT scan of my sinuses. Basically, she made the following analogy. Think of your sinuses like a bath tub. Most folks' tubs are empty, so when they get a cold or allergy symptoms, it's not a big deal. My tub is always half full, so allergy season fills it up. And then when the pressure drops or pollen levels rise, mine are overflowing and I'm more susceptible to things like sinus infections.

Congrats to Chole!! Have fun on your get away scrapmaven, SO and I have just started doing some of that recently and it has been really nice! Bathroom destruction to be starting this weekend...probably Friday night. Told DD that there will not be a shower and to stay at her dorm. We will take showers at his Mom's when needed. I will be making the bbq chicken tonight. I now have it marinating in the sauce so it should be delicious.

Hi Everyone, scrapmaven Have a fabulous time with your DH. My dad had a Cousin like that and she was a pistol. We all loved her. jeremysgirl Congratulations to your beautiful Chloe! You have so much to be proud of; you are a fabulous mama! ntsf Your reservations sound wonderful! Your dinner sounds good. sueg Aside from the crazy weather; your day sounds so wonderful! cadoodlebug Have a great time working on your friendship book. Your dinner sounds delicious. The meme cracks me up. Tearisci Your dinner sounds great. stormsts Good luck finishing your cards. rymeswithpurple I am so sorry that you are so sick with allergies. Your dinners sound great. I am sorry that I haven’t been here for a while. I’ve had severe back pain to the point of where it’s hard for me to even walk or sit. I haven’t been able to do anything around my house. I’ve had to hire someone to come in and help clean. I was going to the gym and had a trainer. He didn’t know what he was doing and it basically put me back three months in pain. I was supposed to be in California today. I was supposed to arrive yesterday and be there until next Wednesday. But there was no way I could even travel with the amount of pain I am in and I cannot lift anything. I am still having problems with my iPad. I think I might’ve gotten a virus, but nothing is showing up to say it’s a virus. It’s just acting very strange. I do come on and read the thread when I can but then with the iPad problems I can’t post. I realized I could today so I jumped on it. I think about all of you all of the time. And I pray that all of you are doing well. I have no idea what dinner is going to be tonight. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of the day.

Good morning!!! Dinner is in the crockpot...Mississippi Roast. I love that stuff. I will make cauliflower rice later to go with it and maybe a salad. I am heading to the consignment sale in a bit to help my very preggo dil unload and put her stuff out. jeremysgirl you asked if I had anything left in my house. The answer is yes, yes I do! Let's just say that I am not a minimalist! I love a layered, collected look. When preparing for this sale I walk around my house and ask myself "do you love it?" If the answer is no, then it goes. Same thing goes with my clothes. Will I come home from this sale with anything "new"? Most definitely I will. I kind of look at it as trading! Also...I am so proud of Chloe. I know it's been a long row to hoe. I am glad she is reaping the benefits of her hard work! scrapmaven I am glad you and dh are hitting the road! Have a good getaway! rymeswithpurple I never have suffered with allergies but, I really feel for you. That must be awful. cadoodlebug I am glad your library holds were restored. I have one book on hold, I've been waiting for weeks and weeks. This will be my first time using the Libby app.

Happy Wednesday! Today is a stay home and catch up on chores and paperwork as the past two days have been super busy. So much so that I was in bed at 9:30 pm last night - a rarity for this night owl! scrapmaven - Enjoy your getaway! As for your question yesterday, DH conveniently had telemed visit with his oncologist booked for Monday morning so he was able to get his impressions of the scan. He will be having a PET scan next week and a body scan the following week (earliest appointments available). Once those are complete we will meet with him and see what's up. Monday was rough, but over two hours working in my storage unit turned out to be good therapy. jeremysgirl - Congratulations to you Chloe! Not an easy feat she has accomplished. Dinner tonight will be rechauffe. The fridge is full and we need to finish up some things in there.

Headed out to lunch shortly with DS and BIL (Chinese food), then taking BIL to a doctor appointment. Dinner might be rechauffe from lunch or I’ll figure something out. I wanted to stop by Home Depot and look at bathroom and vanity options as I have two bathrooms that need remodeling, but unless BIL wants to go with me, I’ll probably skip it for now. Tonight the Back East sister arrives for two weeks (she is already on her plane, unlike the last two planned visits when she got sick and had to cancel that morning, both times. Tomorrow the down-the-street sister has major back surgery. I’ll be getting up at 3:00 am to get them both to the hospital. Only one person is allowed to stay, so I’m dumping the sisters and going to a birthday lunch for a 103yo retired cop. Should be fun. I’m sure I’ll have time to kill in the AM so maybe I’ll check back in. jeremysgirl, congrats and much love to both Chloe and you. sueg, I had to look up BuJo. In case anyone else is uneducated like me, it’s short for bullet journal. destined2bmom, I’m so sorry you had to cancel your trip. Feel better fast!!

scrappert Thanks! I had sinus surgery in 2018, and that definitely solved the recurring sinus infection problem, so hopefully it won't come to that again, but I guess we'll see. destined2bmom Thank you! It's been a while since we've had shepherd's pie, and I think DH will agree to it since it'll be good for his beard. Hah. The Birdhouse Lady I really hadn't either until this year, and decided to get tested. Reactions to ash trees, maple trees, oak trees, mulberry trees, and hickory trees. Between coffee and their brand of Allegra, our Costco membership is going to pay for itself. stormsts Thanks! I appreciate it.

Not sure on dinner dh apparently ate the leftovers before he flew out this week. He never eats them. We have another tornado watch currently which looks to be getting upgraded to a warning soon. The lawn guys and the patio guys are here. They’ll have to come in my house if we get a warning. The wind is crazy right now. destined2bmom I hope you can get this back pain under control. The friendship photo books came out beautiful. I'm meeting up with my 4 besties (we've been friends since our kids were in kindergarten together ~ 33 years ago.) I haven't seen them all together since they visited us up here about 5 or 6 years ago. I have a couple of hours to meet with them while we're down in the Bay Area for the Meet and Greet for our trip.

Hi you guys I've been trying to read but my brain is all over the place today. I appreciate everyone's shout outs for Chloe. Thank goodness there were boxes of Kleenex there because I need a few or twelve. Then we did lunch. And I drove everyone home. Needed to decompress for just a bit and then head out to the hand surgeon for an appointment. He wants to do surgery as soon as possible. They will call me to schedule tomorrow. destined2bmom I am angry on your behalf. I know how you thought you were working toward health and to find it's been detrimental makes me angry. For dinner we had some frozen shrimp (maragritaville brand, not very good) amd pierogies. That was just so we could pretend to be adults and not just eat birthday cake for dinner! My DH's birthday is today. His dad would also have been 75 today had he not passed away in 2013. ☹

destined2bmom I am sorry that you've been in so much pain, and I'm annoyed that it was caused by someone who didn't know what they were doing. My friend who I walk with had a knee injury caused by a trainer at boot camp, who had her doing exercises that she shouldn't have been doing. It took probably 6 months before her knee was better. It's so frustrating! I hope your back improves soon. xx We had dinner at MIL's on Monday, and she made several different curries - lamb curry, butter chicken, potato and cauliflower curry, prawn biriyani, and rice. I took the leftovers to work on Tuesday for my colleague and I to share, and still had enough for lunch on Wednesday. So I wasn't really that hungry at dinnertime on Wednesday. DSO had bought some crumpet toast to try, and I had that with Vegemite and honey. (Not together!! One piece with Vegemite and one piece with honey. )
