Hello -- I haven't been in a hotel in NYC since pre-COVID (I've been in the city a bunch, but I've been in Westchester hotels where my oldest who is graduating next month attends college). I'm going solo in June for a few nights to see a few shows. I lived in NYC for years so know the city and love the subway, so while I want to stay in Manhattan, it doesn't need to be theater district or midtown. Have you stayed somewhere recently you loved? Give me a rec.

I'll let you know how the Hard Rock Hotel will be.. I'll be there in a few weeks. Pictures look great.. so little worry it won't be decent.

Hampton Inn by Hilton NY Times Square, it shares a lobby/building with the Home 2 Suites. I was there in November for the marathon, and the hotel had just opened about a week before we arrived. It’s right across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel. New hotel, great location, small but nice rooms, and breakfast is included so that was a big plus.
Enjoy the city!

We had to find a new NYC hotel last summer.
My very favorite hotel closed during Covid and isn’t reopening (it was sold as apartments) and I’m so sad I didn’t get to go there one last time.
We ended up trying the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. It was a fantastic location between Times Square and Fifth Avenue, but closer to the big shops on Fifth than to Times Square. Walkable to all the theaters, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s, etc.
Felt safe and it was surprisingly nice and quiet.
The rooms were typical NYC small, but had lots of storage solutions like nice hooks and shelves so we actually had somewhere to put our things and the bathroom was nice and big.

I stayed at The Palace with my cousin/bff recently. She likes to stay at the St Regis but it’s too expensive for me haha (I hope im not mixing up the name)
I also looked at The SoHo Grand, but it didn’t have the room I wanted.

Last month a friend and I stayed at the Hyatt Centric in Times Square area next door to the Broadway Museum at 135 W. 45th Street. Absolutely loved the suite we had. Nice bar on the top floor with an amazing view.

I've gone a few times the past year or so and have stayed at StayPineapple-An Artful Hotel on West 36th near Penn Station. It's a small boutique chain and I've stayed in them in Seattle, Portland and Boston. I can't say enough good things about this hotel - free bottled water, bikes and umbrellas to borrow, super comfy beds and great bathroom products. They have kind of spoiled me for other hotel chains.
I like the location too - close to Times Square and all the fun touristy things in Midtown and close to the Hi-Line and southern end of Manhattan too. There are some good restaurants near it in case you don't feel up to wandering.
Have a fun trip!
