Today is when 168 lives were lost.
I was in English class Senior year when it happened. We had to stay in the class we were in for safety and tvs were wheeled into classrooms so we could watch the news.

I had an 8 month old baby and the children in the daycare really got to me. All of it did, really. I cried.

I remember. This was the day my parents signed the paperwork for me to go be an exchange student in Russia. My teacher came over for dinner and I remember we couldn't keep from watching the news.

My kids went to our local federal daycare, many many years after it happened. To this day I haven't been able to bring myself to visit the memorial. I was switching colleges and was visiting Hays with my mom when it happened. I believe they later traced the rental truck to an office in Hays but I could be totally off about that.

I was at my grandparents for spring break watching the "Price is Right" when they interrupted it because of the bombs. The babies broke my heart.

I was at work. A secretary in another department told me about it as I passed her office. I don't know how she learned what happened. It was hard to believe.

I was in my first year of grad school.
It was kind of the beginning of our modern nightmare as I recall it. Or maybe Waco was. A few years later we had Columbine and then 9/11.
For all the fear of growing up doing nuclear bomb drills during the Cold War, I feel like GenX didn’t really experience homegrown terror until the mid 90s. Or maybe that’s just when I was old enough to be more aware of it. Not sure.

I was in jr high when it happened, so I don’t have a strong memory of it and don’t think our teachers turned on the tv.
But I did visit the memorial and museum with my kids and it is so, so well done.

I was a senior in a suburb about 10 minutes from the bombing site. I was visiting and elementary school as part of my high school class when I happened and heard it on the radio. I will never forget walking back into high school and every single TVa was on. We watched for 2-3 days before the principal finally mandated that they be turned off. We had several students lose parents that day and later planted some trees in their honor.

My newborn was 4 days old. It was the first time I had turned on the tv since getting home from the hospital and that was the first thing I saw. I was so dazed and confused by child birth and lack of sleep that I couldn't even understand what happened. I turned the tv off after watching it for 10 minutes. No internet access or cable tv but was scared and appalled at the evil act.

I worked for the OKC Police Dept. at the time. It shook the whole building. We knew what had happened before we made it down the stairs. They just had the wrong building. We were told it was the Federal Court House not the Alfred P. Murrah Building. I've never seen the musuem. Before we moved, I kept thinking somebody would come into town and want to see it. I only want to go once.

It was one of the first tragedies I can remember as a child. I’ll never forget the fire fighter carrying the sweet baby out of the wreckage. Being so young, I probably shouldn’t have been watching it all, but the tv was on all the time. Still think of them every year, same with Columbine.

I was vacationing in Myrtle Beach. I had gone back in the room to grab some more water. Flipped the TV on real quick and then took a small radio outside. Back when people had Walkmans

I was in my first year as a school librarian. I had a radio that I listened to between classes. I heard the news on the radio and turned on the TV. I watched off and on that day, as classes allowed.

My Uncle worked in the building at the time, and we had to wait to hear if he was okay. He was.

I was in grad school and we had this giant screen in our student forum where news would play, so I saw the coverage there. Seeing it on a big screen was not pleasant.

I felt the earth shake even though I was 14 miles away. I've been to the museum several times and even though it is really tough emotionally, I find a bit of healing each time. It just seems so surreal that the babies who died would be about 29 years old now.
