Hi everyone! I have been a bit MIA lately ... just getting used to actually working is taking a lot out of me! I am dead tired! First World Problem! Subbing is going well ... I could work every day if I wanted to but I'm sticking to about four days per week ... I'm taking Thursday off this week because it's my birthday and we are celebrating on Wednesday night at a dinner theatre ... it's a lot of fun there! I gave myself an early birthday gift yesterday ... ex NEVER gave me flowers ... so I bought some for myself! Sorry for the photo dump! Do you ever buy flowers for yourself? I haven't even thought about what I am doing today or tonight ... I have been organizing my spare bedroom and found a bunch of stuff to donate/sell/put in the garbage ... I'll be dealing with that today for sure ... a number of things need to be listed on Facebook Marketplace ... hmmmm, I totally forgot that Molly said she would come over today ... I know I can rope her into helping me! Dinner will be whatever she wants. How is everyone feeling today? And your SO's? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

It’s been a normal, boring Saturday here. Grocery shopping, a walk in between rain showers and then football on TV while knitting for most of the afternoon. There are only 4 weeks left in our football season here, so we have to get our fix, even though our team won’t win this year. leannec - yes, I do buy myself flowers and DH will also buy them we pick them up at the grocery when doing our shopping. DH is cooking dinner, as he always does on Saturday when he’s home. Tomorrow he’s off to Sweden again, so I’ll have a few days of cooking for myself. He is making beef roulades with mashed potatoes. Please send prayers and healing thoughts towards Australia. My DDiL’s dad had a stroke earlier today. He has had surgery to remove one big clot and they hope to shrink the second with medication. DS said they saw him after surgery and he could say their names, which he takes as a good sign, but it will be a long recovery.

sueg praying for DDIL's father. leannec I do sometimes buy flowers though DH brings some home often. I have allergies so my favorite year round ones are orchids and anthuriums. For my wedding reception the parents of one of my friends gave me the wedding gift of doing all the flowers for my reception using orchids and anthuriums. I have some things to work on today. I did sleep in. Was woken up a bit with neuropathy burning pain. Tonight will be chicken tortilla soup from Costco though I doctor it by adding some rotisserie chicken, corn, freshly made tortilla chips and cheddar cheese. Cilantro too when I have it.

We took DH's sister for breakfast this morning and just got back to DS's. I'm packing up as we'll be heading to the Meet and Greet at about 12:30. We'll head home after that. Probably around 5. Maybe we'll stop somewhere for dinner.

I slept in for the first time in months. It felt so good! Got up and started cleaning. The house been severely neglected the past couple of months. It is a cool, brisk day. I want to get out and take a walk but the wind is blowing like crazy. That seems to be an every day thing this spring. leannec I love a fresh bouquet of flowers. Unfortunately, I never buy them. I need to change that. sueg sending prayers for your DDIL and her family. Going to dinner with my very best friend and her DH. We are taking a long weekend trip in May so we are getting together to do some planning.

Sister is still in the hospital in a lot of pain. DD arrived in town last night with a rowdy puppy. Whole family (old people, I mean) is going to a memorial service for a family friend this afternoon and I need to get in the shower NOW. Tomorrow is my niece’s baby shower. Monday is my mom’s 95th birthday. The middle-aged husband/dad from a family we’ve known for almost 40 years from the neighborhood here collapsed and died on the street a couple of days ago. No idea when sister is being sprung. Everyone is busy trying to convince my brother not to visit her because he will want to, but he is the last person she wants to put up with at the moment.
And you all think I know what's for dinner? phht

I have my Saturday chores done - groceries, dropping off more books to my mom and laundry.
I gave my mom a huge bag of books yesterday and she said the ladies in her apartment building were fighting over them! I took her some today that I was going to donate. She told me she was only going to give them to her favourite people in the building!
DS leaves for Winnipeg for more work training tomorrow. He will be gone a week so I’ll be on call to help DDIL if she needs anything.
Supper will be grilled chicken breasts, grilled potatoes, Greek salad and some sort of vegetable.

Happy Saturday!
I woke up at 6 am this morning and can't even blame the dog since I woke him up. I tried to nap but the dog wasn't down for it so that didn't happen.
I was going to have my parents over for dinner, but my brother and his GF are coming too. I'm making a pork chop casserole and sides. They are bringing stuff too so it's like a potluck. We'll probably play cards afterward.
Hope you all have a great day!

I love flowers and buy myself some regularly. In the summer I grow them and buy them at the farmer’s market. Dh buys them for our anniversary. Spent the afternoon at my niece’s pop-up permanent jewelry event. I was just popping in to say hi really but her sister was a no show so I stayed and helped. We had fun. Dinner is spaghetti with meatballs & salad. Marina what a nice wedding gift. I love orchids and have many plants. I just added some at the Conservatory member sale. Unfortunately I didn’t realize the actual plants aren’t labeled. Only the table they were on. So it will be a surprise when they bloom again. Praying for your ddil’s dad sueg.

Sending good thoughts to your DIL's family sueg . lucyg wow you have a lot going on at the moment. It sounds like a toast-for-dinner kind of day. I hope the doctors can get your sister's pain under control. leannec I love tulips! Your flowers are so pretty. DSO buys me flowers every now and then, and I make sure to show my gratitude for them, and for his thoughtfulness. There is a part of me that feels uncomfortable with spending (wasting?) money on something that will be dead within a week. I love Australian native plants and flowers, so I started buying fake stems from the native nursery we go to. MIL and SIL bought me some for my birthday, and then DSO bought me some for Christmas, which I used to decorate my outdoor tree. They are now in a vase, and I will use them on the tree again next Christmas. I need to find some better vases, but these ones will do for the time being. Each of these stems cost about $20 (some more, some less), so these two arrangements are worth a few hundred dollars. But they will last forever, so it's money well spent.

leannec - lovely flowers. We don't do fresh flowers inside due to the kitties - they'll try eating them and they'll knock them over. DH isn't one to buy cut flowers - he will surprise me with a plant for the garden now and then. DS32 used to occasionally buy me a bouquet back when he lived at home - and I know he buys them now and then for himeself. lucyg - prayers sueg - prayers also. dinner is a spanokopita with puff pastry (because that's what I had) and cantaloupe chunks - just me and DH tonight as DD17 is camping in the keys

It's 9:30am Sunday morning here, and I am still in my PJs, Peaing on the couch. We have had three nights out in a row, so today I don't want to do anything. Well, until 4pm when I will go to my dad's house to watch the football.
I think I already mentioned that we went with friends for dinner and a Blues gig on Thursday night. On Friday night we went with other friends to our favourite restaurant in town, then to see a show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. On Saturday we spent the whole day watching local football, starting with DS's match at 8:30am, then DD's match, then our nephew was playing against DD's partner which finished at 5pm. Last night we went out for dinner with friends to a local Malaysian hawker food restaurant.

Hi friends!
We took another day trip out today. We went to a church rummage sale that DH saw advertised on his way to work, then we went to Winchester. We went to the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, but weren't overly impressed. We went to breakfast at a place nearby. DH had pulled pork and eggs, and I had shrimp and grits. Both were delicious. Even the toast was tasty. From there, we went to the casino so DH could exchange his winning tickets and he also wanted to place some bets on hockey games. We also stopped at Costco on the way home.
Dinner tonight was steak and sweet potatoes.
I don't know if I mentioned it, but our car is home and I'm so glad to have it back.
Next week will be a busy one. Big work conference is 4 weeks out next week, and I have a number of appointments. I need to remember to mention at one some bizarre pain I had. It was on my left side under my chest on my side, and the same area on my arm (like parallel to it, if that makes sense?) was also in pain. If it had gone on for much longer, I may have asked DH to take me somewhere, and I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. 🤷🏼
So far, doubling up on Allegra seems to be helping, but we'll see how the next few days go.
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend! ☺️

We had another open house today, but doesn't sound like any serious buyers came though. Gotta love the looky-loos. It was a bit of a challenge keeping 2 dogs occupied for the time they we had to be out of the house. It was too cold to go to the park which had been my original plan. It was supposed to be from 2-4 but when I drove home at 4:20 there were still cars in my driveway. So we ended up at the park anyway in the mud and the cold because the dogs were starting to get crazy in the backseat. Fingers crossed for some serious buyers to show up at tomorrow's open house!

Hi! So happy to see you! Fingers and toes crossed for an offer/sale! Most sales are not generated by open houses but it's worth a shot. (My ex is a realtor so I learned a lot about buying and selling through osmosis! )

here lately open houses seem to be the thing, and so many houses have been selling within the first couple weeks. I learned when I purchased that if I really liked a house I need to get my agent to book me a private showing before the open house if I wanted to have a chance at it leannec I posted an update yesterday - check out the pic of my new puppy!

home watching the giants baseball. We arrived home safely ~ traffic was a nightmare but we made it home in a little over 2 hours so not that bad. We stopped by our favorite place that has the $32 dinners for two. Didn't get that but I got I wonderful turkey cobb salad and DH had a tri-tip sandwich/fries which he said was amazing.

sueg, my prayers are w/your ddil's father. lucyg, you have way too many sad and stressful things on your plate. I am thinking the best thoughts that your sister will be comfortable very quickly. I came home feeling just rotten. So, I'm having a bit of a pity party, but I'll be fine. Off to bed.
