from Twitter: the U.S senate is thinking about revoking Trump's Secret Service protection if Trump is convicted and Jailed.
I don't know if this is fact or fiction, but it seems to me--if the SS agents have to follow him to prison, then we are asking the SS force to go to prison without having committed a crime, and that is just wrong.
Please correct me if my thinking is illogical.

At the point he is convicted of a felony, he should no longer receive secret service protection. It isnt like he is going to be put in Gen Pop anyway

Darn right. And should lose any other perks. I even wish somebody would make him stop using the seal, which isn't allowed to be used by anybody but the President--which he is NOT.
It makes me cringe that anybody still calls him "President Trump." I feel that he lost the right to that convention when he tried to overthrow our democracy.

I certainly don't think he should have SS protection *in* prison - though they should probably consult with the prison in developing plans.
But once he was released, I think he should have the same protection any former president does. I absolutely hate the man but I do not want protection of our elected officials to become a political football. Because it won't stop with him and it doesn't do our country any good to risk harm/assassination to ex-presidents, regardless of party.

Being protected by the SS isn’t a perk for the person, it is a necessity for the security of the country. It’s not for him, it’s for all of us.
Like him or not (and I don’t), I don’t want him in enemy hands. Think of all the information he knows.
I think the SS should be consulted on prison security and plans. I don’t think they should be prisoners with him, but being prison guards isn’t out of the realm of reasonable solutions for this scenario.

TFG will never go to jail even if convicted. It’s just not going to happen, he’s white, he has convinced people he’s rich, he has influence even if I don’t think he should. He, at worst, will have house arrest.
It’s not like he will accept his sentence and do his time and teach yoga classes in prison while he’s in there. He will whine & carry on & play the victim and appeal & appeal, and just be a general asshat.
On the off chance he spends any time in prison he’s going to be a handful because he hasn’t abided a single rule in his life. Goid luck to the guards& inmates.
I would love to be incorrect.

I could see having SS in the jail in case something goes wrong, but not IN jail with Trump. Why should he get to hang out with friendly people? I would imagine he'd go into a low security prison with lots of amenities. His SS detail could sit in a room with cameras and make sure he's safe and if he has to be with other people, then maybe they could be nearby. I don't think it has to be all yes or all no. Some compromise perhaps.

I think he's far more likely to divulge national secrets from the oval office than from a prison cell, even if he's there without SS protection.
He'd be doing us all a favor by just dying in prison. But I agree that it's more likely he'll get house arrest, and still have access to social media and continue to foment division and violence from there.

Our entire prison system is disgusting. Criminals are still humans and should be treated as such. It's horrific that we have created a penal system were that could even happen. It doesn't have to be that way and it shouldn't. Some people do need to be incarcerated for life (but not nearly as many as are) but no one should be murdered for their crimes. |

LOL I was watching The Fall, where the prison guard mentioned that prisoners must be allowed 8 hours of quiet. This was in N. Ireland. Is that true and if so, is that the case in US or other countries? |
