I feel like they believe "win at any cost." It doesn't matter to many Republicans what Trump did. It is what he offered them that matters.

I’ll admit when Ford pardoned Nixon I was glad because I was so tired of hearing about Nixon. But that was a mistake. Nixon believed he could do anything and get away with it. In a way he did because of the pardon. But pardoning Nixon gave us trump who feels as president he wasn’t and isn’t accountable for anything. So no President Biden should absolutely not pardon trump. I think in the world of today, those polls can’t be anywhere close to an accurate reflection of the general population because just look at who they are getting to respond to them. How many people do you know today who even answer their phone when it’s an unknown number? Many people don’t, especially younger people who might skew more Democratic. I’d be willing to bet that the people who do respond to those telephone polls tend to skew older, whiter and more Republican which is why they come out the way they do. I’m in my late 50’s and unless I’m expecting a call from a doctor’s office or something similar I never answer calls from numbers I don’t recognize. Like EVER. I don’t respond to text polls either, and I’ve been getting bombarded by them lately. I bet I get close to a dozen texts *per day* with requests for political donations, polls, etc. and I just hit delete on all of them because I really don’t want to get added to any MORE of those lists! I hope that the Democratic Party can get their act together fast and start messaging HARD and everywhere with what they have been doing and will continue to do for everyday people, especially women. I’ve seen a few video clips recently where random average people are being interviewed RE: the election and Trump vs. Biden and folks are just not connecting the dots.  How can any reasonably intelligent person not immediately see the vast differences there? How can people not understand that voting 3rd party, write in or not voting at all is only going to help elect the guy you really DON’T want?  I’m amazed by how many people of both genders don’t seem to get it that these oppressive laws being passed that restrict women’s reproductive health are going to come around to bite men in the ass eventually too, since they will hopefully be on the hook financially for all these unwanted babies they are unintentionally fathering. That’s one aspect of this whole mess that I never ever see being addressed. |

Here’s an article referencing the increase in homicide and DV for pregnant people since the Dobbs decision for anyone who’s interested. The only people who respond to them are Republicans. Dems don't really care about the optics of those things and have better things to do with their time. There have been several widespread polls that actually have Biden ahead. Statistically, they are equal. The only good thing about these stupid polls are they are actually riling up the left to go out and vote. If Biden were way ahead, we would have another 2016 on our hands. |

Like I said, homicide is a leading cause of death for pregnant people in this country. So when you add an inability to control your reproductive life and to end a pregnancy that might be unplanned or unwanted by the abuser also, this is probably only going to get worse.
Would you call what’s happening with abortion and domestic violence an unintended consequence of the Dobbs decision or something else?

Sure, if it’s a law that they like. If it’s a law that they don’t like(or a law being applied to someone that they DO like), not so much. Many Republicans have scoffed at Trump’s felony charges, and more than once I have heard “If they can do it to him, they can do it to you.” (I live in a red state, so this is the kind of stuff that you hear.)
There are Republicans who do not think that Trump should have been charged with stealing top secret documents. Although he was fortunate that the judge in that case, a longtime member of the Federalist Society, has conveniently delayed that trial for him. So helpful. 🥴

But I don’t think that most people are paying attention yet. If they start paying attention and if they hear Trump speak, it is impossible not to notice his constant word salad. It’s not like normal aging, where you forget a word (which I do) or say one word occasionally when you mean another. If you listen to his speech at Gettysburg, or at Wildwood-yikes. He is having trouble speaking coherent thoughts. It is very noticeable. |
