I don't use photoshop, so I guess I am a dummy for this stuff! I bought my daughter 1D concert tickets for Christmas, and I would love to frame the photo that they promoted online for this specific concert. It has the location, date, etc . . . I have bought the frame for a 5x7 photo. It could go horizontal or vertical, so that doesn't matter. The problem is this promotional photo I copied from the Internet, is an odd shape to begin with, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it into 5x7 - Can some smart person help me out? I am going to attach it to this post, but could email it if that were easier. ? Thank you for any assistance you could offer me, It is greatly appreciated. Here is the photo:

It won't ever make a 5x7. The original format is a square or close to it. You can make it a 5x5 but not a 5x7 unless you add some blank "canvas" to the bottom/top.

You could also print it as a 5x5 (or smaller) and simply mat it to some plain paper that is cut as a 5x7

Homegoods sells square photo frames, I bought a couple there not too long ago. That might be your best bet.

Print it smaller than the frame and glue it to a piece of cardstock cut to 5 x 7, if you have any.

Bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!! We don't have a Homegoods, and the 5x5 looks really funny in the 5x7 frame because there is only white space on two sides, not all four sides. I even went so far as to try and shrink it on a color copier! No bueno!

Instead of leaving the extra spaces white, I would use a dark color - looks like it's either black or dark gray.

I would just extend the black background by an inch or so top and bottom to make it a 5x7. It's easy to do in Photoshop.

I have done this many times with something that doesn't print to a standard photo frame size and I didn't want the expense of paying for custom framing.

You could copy it to a photo editing program. Paste it to a 5x7 background, use a dropper tool to change the background color to match the color surrounding the square. Or crop the bottom of the photo and paste it higher up to elongate it. But you'll never be able to make the photo itself 5x7.

HTH! Just a quick question....how do you do a picture as an attachment when you post here? Oh! Pick me - - - A question I can actually answer . . . You have to have your photo saved on a seperately hosted site (like photobucket, etc) and in the top right corner of the area you are typing your post in, is a button to add attachment. You just copy the url from Photobucket or the other site, and attach it here! Wallah! Hope that made sense.
