Lol...too cute. Honestly though, would give anything if I could move my MIL right next door. I wish she always lived right there.  But I know if I had married my last bf I would have HATED that. |

Cadaver dogs will pick up the scent, but when they uncover the dead dog, searchers will move on assuming that is what it was. This is just useless trivia and does not in anyway imply you will be making any plans. I think Dh and I both agree we need a minimum 50 miles from our parents. Right now we are at 1400+. |

LOL...I would LOVE if my ex's mom lived near me! She's a sweetheart and I still consider her as "Mom" even though we are no longer related by marriage.
But if she is anything like peanuttle's MIL, then let me know if you need help with the body.

My husband's co-worker lives right across the street from his inlaws. I think he would completely understand what you are about to do. I think he may join you in prison! Justifiable, that's for sure! haha!
It's great living out of town from parents. We are 200 miles from his, 250 from mine. But then we pay for it at the holidays. We have to travel to see both families at Christmas and 300 miles to his grandmother's at Thanksgiving. In addition to everything everyone else has to do for the holidays, add traveling three times (all different directions) to the list. Not fun! Now we get along with everyone, but I am a homebody and get so stressed traveling! I would love to host everyone here!

My parents have friends and the wife is a very independent, strong, thoughtful, family loving, woman. She is also very tall and strong looking. (Kwim). Well, she had a mother-in-law that used to intimidate her all the time. She would belittle her, make her feel bad, tell her she was a bad mother etc. MIL just died 3 weeks ago. I can't imagine the relief she must feel now, morbid as it may be.

This thread is funny!
My mom lives 1000 miles away and does not ever want to move. My dad lives about 450 miles and I would never let him move anywhere close to me. My inlaws live just under an hour away. They are looking at retiring next year. They are both in their 70's. DH's mother is 73 and stepfather is a couple of years older so I guess about 75 or maybe 76. The time is coming that they are going to need more help. But, they are talking about moving to East Texas and not only moving but buying a house in East Texas after they sell the one they have here. That means it will be harder for them to move closer to us once they start needing more help. DH cannot drive to East Texas every time they need something and he is the only one capable of helping them. They no longer have contact, or not much contact, with the prescription drug addict, alcoholic sister. I don't know what the heck they are thinking. I have suggested they rent instead of buy. At least then they can move again more easily. DH has told them that if they want his help that they will have to move closer to us. I sure don't want them next door but in the general area would be good. They won't bother us much.........that is, showing up unannounced and things like that.

My sister & I used to have a code for the possibility of such an event. She would simply call my house and say 'Trail Mix'. This way I knew I had to be her alibi without her having to actually say it. Now we just need to get admin to delete this thread and then you can start a new one simply entitle Trail Mix. That would be intolerable. LOL, when my MIL downsized she moved four blocks away from her daughter and grandkids. She was about 20 minutes away from us (further away than she had been, but still WAY too close). I think she was unpleasantly surprised when her DD and SIL made NO time for her. DH had to drop everything and run over there every time she needed the lawn mower started, the walk shoveled or a lightbulb changed...  And I just have to say don't forget to get a 50 lb bag of lime before you dig your hole. I've watched enough crime shows to know that if you're gonna go to the trouble to bury a body you'd better have a big bag of lime! |

my in-laws are deceased, and i have to say it really works for me!! I totally get where you're coming from because I would feel the same way about my own mother living that close
