Sorry papersilly, Daniel Craig just doesn't do it for me. Idris, on the other hand? Yummy.

He is pretty awesome.
It's cute when Rush tries to stay relevant.

Uh...hell yes! LOVED him in Thor. He'd be a magnificent Bond.
ETA: Oooo...what if Idris had a Scottish accent as Bond? You know, since "James Bond is white and Scottish, period." That would be cool.

I really like looking at Daniel Craig as Bond --- if only he could act! Seriously, I don't think he could "act" his way out of a paper bag. I've only ever seen him in the Bond roles, though, and he is openly contemptuous of the part. Maybe that's why he's so bad. Let's get another gorgeous actor in the role who really wants it and tries! ETA: Who was Elba in Thor? Was he the gatekeeper guy? (Sorry- too full of pancakes to google the character's name)

With Craig, I watch for the cars, fashion, general eye-candy. Although I haven't seen the last one because I knew where the story-line was going and don't agree with various casting choices. If they cast Idris as Bond I'll watch, but I'll have NO idea what else is going on in the movie. Explosions, plot relevance, Aston Martin, what Aston Martin? Needless to say, I find him a bit distracting. In a good way.
If anyone else would like to be distracted, check out "Idris Elba: King of Speed" or something like that. It was on the BBC and he was hilarious and philosophical. He's a hoot.
I think he would be too distracting and distinctive for a spy. He should blend in. I happen to think Idris dominates pretty much any room he is in with his size, laugh, smile, voice. He's not subtle to me, not even when playing Luthor.

I enjoy seeing Daniel Craig as Bond (even though I was initially convinced I wouldn't like him). I've never seen Idris Elba in anything (except Thor), but he's a good looking guy and it would be interesting to see him in this role.
ETA: I just added Luther to my Netflix queue. Thanks Peas!

I have been a James Bond fan since I can remember. I got in trouble in elementary school for doing a book report on one of Ian Flemings books ( I told you my parents didn't censor us ) and I had to do the report over.
I have liked pretty much every actor that has played bond, I do have a few favorites, Daniel Craig is not one of them. He did alright but that's all.
I think Idris Elba will make a fantastic bond. And honestly it's gone so far past what Ian Fleming created I don't see why not at this point. I hope he grows that beard for that and he looks like he can pull off the swagger.

I was bored, so I did google Elba. I liked him in the Thor movies, and I suspect he could pull off Bond very well. BUT, it turns out he hates Thor (and whines about it) as much as Craig whines about being Bond.
I adore the Bond movies, and don't need any more reluctant actors pretending to embrace the part. So, I'll pass on Elba (as if I get a real vote).
On another note, I got an email from iTunes this morning that the iTunes copy of the complete Bond catalog (all 23 movies - it's the Bond 50 collection) is on sale for $99. You're welcome.

I got the complete set a few years ago for Christmas and then the new movies as time went along. Our Christmas Day tradition is a Bond-a-thon.

I got the complete set of movies on BluRay on Black Friday-- a Bond-a-thon would be great! (my BF doesn't really like Bond movies, but too bad- lol!)

Henry Cavill should be the next Bond. He was actually considered for the part before Daniel Craig got it, and he actually wanted the part too. No one else would be acceptable to me.

I love both guys. Don't care if they can act, if they whine about their roles, if they're white or black. I'm happy with Daniel and would be equally pleased with Idris.

I first saw him in Luther... I put that on for background noise one day and spent the rest of the day binge watching him for hours... Definitely a good series to watch...

Put Idris Elba in anything.. The Wire, Luther,Thor... I'm there. I'm not a huge Bond fan but with him in the part I'll become a fan.

It is worth watching Pacific Rim to watch him walk away wearing his jager suit. Wish he had to wear it the whole time.
