I want to take up quilting in the new year, so I put a rotary cutter and mat on my Christmas list. I got the rotary cutter, but no mat . But, I did get a Michael's $75 giftcard, so I will head down to Michael's sometime in the next week and get myself a mat.

I wanted a pair of shoes that costs over $100. It's my fault I didn't get them because my mom was willing to get them for me. But she decided to give me a check towards a retreat/getaway I want to go to instead.
DH would have gotten them, but if we had the money for them I would have just bought them myself. So now I'm going to keep an eye out for them to go on sale or something.

Lego's! I have no idea why it is so hard for people to believe that I want a set, but every year.....nada!

I asked for a mini refrigerator for my new office at work. We recently relocated to a new space and I have a big enough office to slide one in under my desk. There is a large box under our tree - I thought for sure that is what it was, until DS handed it to me and it was super light. Hmmm....what could it be. I open it up and it is this: Not sure why DH thought I needed this..but, um...ok. Guess he thinks I need to spend more time in bed sitting up?

Lego's! I have no idea why it is so hard for people to believe that I want a set, but every year.....nada! My 21 year old mentioned wanting legos last year, so this year I got him one - he was sitting there right after he opened his gifts putting his lego together! My 21-yo DD asks for Legos too. Her brother (14) has a LOT, mostly Star Wars sets. He doesn't ask for them anymore (for years Lego SW sets were always his main Christmas & B-day gifts), but still gets into building them when his younger cousins are around. Teeeheee...I am currently waiting for them both to wake up (!!) and look under the tree for an unexpected boxing day gift -- a small Lego set for each and The Lego Movie. These are not wrapped or labeled, so I'll let them work it out. One set is The Hobbit and one is Lego Movie themed. They had each mentioned that they thought about putting the movie on their Christmas lists and they both quote it all the time. They were even talking about it last night while we were playing Apples to Apples.

As for things I asked for but didn't get, I'll have to hold off on answering because we're having the get-together with DH's family today, so we'll see...

Whole lotta stuff, but most of it are things that can sit patiently on the list til next year. However . . . as I mentioned in another thread, I have been asking my husband for a Silhouette Cameo for about 5 years. He finally confessed yesterday that he didn't know what it was. Hellloooo? ASK ME!! Sheesh. Obviously, I didn't get it. Here's hopin' 2015 will be the year . . . kimpossible, I actually would love one of those, lol. Can you ask your son where he got yours?

We passed on it this year as it is a new show and I figured they might need to work out the bugs. It is an amazing show and when they come around next year, buy tickets AND if at all possible, on the floor. I have sat twice on the floor and once on the side and the floor is such a cool experience with all the lights. All 4 of my kids love it, just as much now as young adults as they did when we saw when they were much younger. Sign up for their free fan club and you will get an email to allow you to buy tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Sorry that you missed out again this year .

We do email Christmas lists complete with links in this family, too. That way we all get exactly what we want. We make our lists extra long, so that a giver has choices about what to get. So we're always still a little surprised. And we always have the option of going rogue and buying something that's not on the list – which we usually do. Christmas shopping was so easy for me this year! Click – buy – click – buy!
So, clearly, I love everything I got because I picked out myself. But I still got (and gave) surprises, too.

Every year I get everyone in my family new pajamas for Christmas. Each year no one thinks to get me new jammies as well. So I am headed to Kohls today to spend a $10 Kohls cash certificate on some new jammies for myself.
I also asked for a set of crystal coasters, a cheap gift but no one bought me any so I have an Amazon gift card that I will spend to buy myself some coasters.

I really want a pair of Aftershokz headphones for horseback riding. When I go by myself I would love to be able to listen to music but I am too nervous about not hearing cars coming up behind me. The Aftershokz don't go in your ears allowing you to hear ambient noise. I asked for them last Christmas, for my birthday in May, and again this Christmas. They are only $40. Someone, just please buy me my headphones. www.amazon.com/Aftershokz-AS321-E-Sportz-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B009G89ZDU/ref=pd_cp_e_3

Underpants. Every year since I was little kid my mother has bought socks and underpants as part of my gift. A couple years ago she forgot to send any socks or undies and I was devastated. I cried. She felt terrible and sent me a whole huge box of socks and undies the next year. This year she sent socks, but forgot underpants. Even her husband "yelled" at her. She sent me a check to make up for it, but it wasn't the same.
I hate to say it's because she's getting old and forgetful, she says she doesn't know what style I like. I have told her repeatedly, bikini, size 6!

Light Room for my laptop, a gold chain bracelet, Keith Urban tickets for next summer or a camera lens. Honestly, I didn't get a single thing I had hoped for but this isn't unusual. Should I just buy my own gift and wrap it next year??

A new iPad. I have the iPad 2 and we got DS2 a mini 3. I'd love a mini, it's the prefect purse size. I would have gotten one on black Friday but the target I went to only had one left.

I sent my dad a link to everything I wanted and he could choose to buy or not buy or find something else.
I didn't get the 3k ring I had asked for. Lol. I haven't worn a ring I my finger in say 10 years buy I thought it was pretty.
This was a joke. My dad told me to buy whatever I wanted at our store (within reason) and he would pay for it. I found 3 sweaters and I was good. I did find my mom some really great things along the way though. We got some scarves in that are stunning. I called my dad, he said but them and so I did. Talbot's had a sweater she loved on the cover of their magazine. That was the easiest purchase ever! I found a camisole I knew she would love. It is uber long and I knew I had to get it. She was very happy yesterday!

This is going to sound wayyyyyy more sanctimonious and preachy than I mean it to-just know in advance that isn't my intention rather it is what works for me. A couple of years ago I realized that I was always vaguely disappointed because I wanted...more? better? something, I wasn't sure. So the next year, I decided that I was going to go into Christmas with the idea of zero expectations. If I got something I didn't like, well...that was more on me than the gift giver as the only people I get gifts from are people I love and appreciate. Funny thing happened, the minute I decided to let go of expectations, I stopped feeling disappointed. And started seeing the gifts for what they represent, even if they missed the mark a bit. I didn't ask for anything specific, and ended up with everything I loved.

I was talking about buying a potato ricer a few weeks ago,and DH gave me the whole "don't go buying yourself anything new right before Christmas" routine. So I specifically said I would not buy one but need one for Christmas dinneR so... Santa had better come through.
Guess what? No ricer. DH 'forgot'. Not my fault if our mashed potatoes were lumpy.

I didn't get my car back. I was hoping to get it back around now. The transmission went on it about 4 months ago. I didn't have the money to fix it so my brother is letting me put the repairs on his credit card and I'm making payments. I'm suppose to get a used transmission but the garage didn't find one yet. Apparently it's a hard transmission to find. Maybe I'll get it back for Easter. Seriously I need my car back.
