1. Change up my workouts with more intensity. What worked before is not as effective with age (I'm 53 now). I know what I need to do... I just need to do it.
2. Go back to scrapbooking -- old style. I've made lots of photo-book style scrapbooks in the last few years, but I quit keeping up my boys books. I want to make sure all four of them have finished books at least through their high-school years. Each has several albums now... and they love them. I know they would appreciate the effort and it would be a life-long gift to them. The oldest three's just need finishing up -- the youngest is just starting high school.
3. Get a cat. We've been pet-less for the last 3+ years and I miss that companionship.

get organized, exercise more and eat more vegetables
I already don't watch much TV, so I guess I need to get off the internet if I want to carve more time out for those other things...

I'd like to be more consistent with daily devotional/quiet time. I do well for a while, then something throws me off and it falls by the wayside. It's a great way to start my day.
I'm going to spend two training cycles focusing on strength. I have some mobility/range of motion issues and my strength just isn't progressing the way I'd like it to. I talked to my head coach at CrossFit tonight and he thinks it's a great idea. I'll supplement the lifting with running on the side.
I've been doing a decent job putting money into savings every other month or so. I'd like to keep that up.

I am going to focus on my health. Not in a 'I will lose X pounds' way, but in a conscious way. Every morning, I go for coffee with a colleague before work. It's our thing. I'm not going to have the muffin. Over the year that's a LOT of muffins. Often, someone in the office brings in food to share. I will not have a piece. I've decided my exercise will be a 2 mile walk. I will not stay home it it's too hot/cold/raining/windy. It's only 2 miles. I can do that everyday. And it's a pretty walk. If I happen to lose X pounds, that will be nice, but for me, all the little things I do/don't do add up.

Life goals: - let things "roll off my back more"...I get crazy stressed when I try to pick apart what someone meant when they're not quite as "nice" to me as I would expect. I need to remind myself sometimes people have bad days, aren't thinking, and may say things that are really not a big deal. I make myself crazy with it when I think I've upset someone and they're being "mean" back or if they're being "mean" for a reason I can't figure out.
- Establish a better relationship with dh. It's been a rough 18 months for us. Lots of our foundation just shifted under my feet and it's taking time to make it strong again. I'm hopeful that we're on our way, but I need to remember to leave some things in the past and make our future what I always dreamed it to be
- Have "dates" with my children on a rotating basis. I just took my one twin out this morning and we had an impromptu lunch "date". He said "Mom, I really like spending time with you just you and me." Melted my heart, he did. I think our life gets so busy and hectic, I forget just spending one-on-one time with each of them is important
Health/Fitness goals: - Like many, I have some weight to lose. I'm not putting a number on it; I'm putting a dress size to it instead. I am working toward being OUT of plus sized clothing by June. In order to do this I will be doing the following
- continue to eat "clean" --we don't eat much in terms of overly processed foods, so we'll continue on that path
- plan out my meals for the week and prep as much as I can on Sunday--I've been doing this over the month of December for a facebook challenge and it really does make my days smoother. No thinking "what the heck am I making for dinner?" or "There's 30 minutes getting my breakfast/lunch and the kids' lunches done" in the morning. With our crazy sports/dance schedule, if I don't do this, it's take-out for a lot of the week and that's just no good!
- exercise: Mondays-Insanity, Tuesday/Friday-training with my friends and our trainer (there're only 3 of us training together), Thursday:Turbo Kickboxing. Wednesday will be my gym day with my friend, and the weekend it will depend on what's going on with the kids and their sports schedule. I have it on my calendar and everyone knows that's what I do on those days.

I am not going to try to lose weight. I am going to lose weight. No more trying. Just doing.
I am going to do better about cooking ahead and freezing healthy meals.
I am going to journal more regularly. I want to capture important feelings and memories before I forget them.

1. I want to continue losing weight. 2. I want to eat and cook healthier meals. Eat out less. 3. Declutter and organize closets, cabinets and all my scrapping stuff. 4. I want to get rid of some bills that we have. 5. I want to make time for myself and learn that it's ok to have some " ME" time.

I have a bunch of "me" things to work on, but my favorite every year is to be nice to old people. I find it easy to do and it actually makes me feel better.

I am beginning the new year by having a no spend $$ quarter.... a total effort to buy absolutely nothing but the necessities January through March. Nothing. Not one scrap of fabric or extra anything. I am going to concentrate on using what I have here in the house.
I will continue to sort and box things that I need to get rid of. Downsizing is in my future so this is just something I need to get done. But it is difficult to let go of my dh's things.
I am going to begin transitioning to a more vegan diet. Maybe not completely but definitely more fruit and veg and less meat. Also am switching from a dinner plate to a luncheon plate to ensure smaller portions. Who knows. Maybe I will go all the way eventually.
I am also going to make a real effort to find the joy in every day. I have cut out watching a huge amount of the news. Oh I will still pay attention but the news will not be on constantly. I am working on calming my mind and giving myself more positive things to think about.
Also need to drink more water. That used to be a goal for many of us but I seldom hear it mentioned much any more. And I just plain forget to do it.
I hope to make the coming year an all around more positive one. And I thoroughly intend to begin working on Christmas in July. Did that this year and it was so amazing.

I realized recently that thanks to six years of school and getting back into the work world, I've forgotten how to enjoy things. So this year I will
Make more time for my friends. Plan a trip out of state for some girl time. Make more time for myself. Start scrapbooking again. Read more. Start writing again. Take up drawing again. My DD got me artist pencils for Christmas and I'm so excited! Get more sleep!

I have loads of goals for this year, and for the first time I've broken them into what I think are small, achievable items that I hope will lead me to completing some overall life goals. The big goals are: - finish decluttering - this is carry-over from this fall, when DH and I decided to toss half of the things we own; we've done a great job so far, and it's time for pass #2, which I know will be harder; I've broken it into monthly areas to focus on, and I hope we'll be where we want to be by the end of 2015; also lumped into this big goal is general organization of our home and schedules - travel more - I have several tentative trips planned - Costa Rica with DH; driving from Austin, TX to LA with my BFF; and a family trip to Salt Lake to spend time with DH's family; I'd also like to get up to NYC/NJ more frequently to see friends and family; if things go really, REALLY well, DH and I will finally take the trip to Italy we've always dreamed of - be more present - this runs the gamut from not constantly multi-tasking at work to spending at least 10 minutes a day talking with DH and doing nothing else - be a better friend/reconnect with people who matter to me - my closest friends are scattered across the country and globe, and I've realized that in the last few years as I've gotten more and more engrossed with family and work, I've let certain friendships fall off my priority list; I've never been great at making new friends, and the ones I DO have are the best - so I need to cultivate the wonderful friends I have, instead of feeling sorry for myself for not having super close friends in proximity to where I live.

I want to find a way to not hate my job. I can't change right now, due to life circumstances.
I am giving up sugar every other day. I can do it! I eat pretty healthy with the exception of sweets.
ETA - And spend less money on things I don't NEED. I want to retire in 3 years.

Spend smarter
Internet surf less and read more books instead.
Improve muscle tone by changing work-out intensity.
Preserve memories with my kids (who are teens now and growing too fast!) by keeping up with photos and journaling I don't want to forget these years.
De-clutter and organize. Purge junk in the garage!
Tackle home improvement stuff, it's getting overwhelming. Need new blinds, broken tiles fixed, some painting needs done, deck repair, replace chipped bathroom sink, etc etc etc. ugh

My only goal is to see the glass half full. I am going to stop being critical of me. When things go wrong as they always do, I am going to give it up to God and get on with life. I am going to relish the imperfections and know that in God's eyes I am perfect. I am not overly religious. But as I get older I am finally understanding the beauty of being in the small moments. I want to be able to recognize those moments instead of being overwhelmed by the trivia that tends to overtake my life. My word for the year is Grace....
Now I need to get off of this damn computer and get my graceful ass to the grocery store so I have something to put in that half full glass!

1) A Planet Fitness opened up right across the street from me (in a former grocery store) so DH and I both joined the week before Christmas. My goal there is to get into a routine and drop at least 10lbs and maintain it. Right now, for my height, I'm on the high end of the ideal weight, pushing into slightly overweight. I can wear a size 6 but I want to be able to wear those 4's again with comfort and maybe even wear a two piece!
2) Knit more. I think I would sell more at craft shows if I had more hats and socks, especially the socks. 3) Along with #2, I want to knit more for myself and learn how to do cables. When I do craft shows, I see a lot of simple stuff. I want to set myself apart and offer hats, gloves, socks that have patterns and cables on them.

Well, as always, I need to lose weight again, especially after a very careless holiday season of eatimg when and what I wanted....which I cannot do and expect not to gain weight. Did OK up until Thanksgiving, then it all went to h*ll in a handbasket. So I will try again, as I have for probably the last 40 Januarys. And I would be thrilled to knock off 20 and keep it off, so that is a realistic goal for a post-menopausal 63 year old woman! It just gets old.... It's sad that so many of the resolutions mentioned involved losing weight. But I guess we all know what we need to do......
Other things to think about is to be kinder- to everyone, and to not let the actions of one lazy coworker color my entire day. Things are not going to change with her, so I really need to change my reaction to her.
Do better with keeping my house cleaned and picked up. It's ok, but could be better if I would get into a more consistent routine.
Get off the computer and spend more time scrapping and reading. Don't get sucked into the internet for hours at a time! I don't watch TV much, but the internet can be such a time waster- well, except for this board!
Pray more, for peace in my life, and in the world, and in Thanksgiving for all the good things that I do have.
Happy New Year, fellow resolution makers, hope you accomplish your goals in 2015!

Lose 10-15 pounds. Find an exercise routine to improve my back pain. Stop trying to control every aspect of my life. Get rid of clutter. Keep calm if/when we have to move again.

I have a friend and she has a trait I really admire and I want to be like her in that regard. She doesn't talk about other people. Not in a gossipy or judgey or negative way at all, ever. I admire that and want to be like that. Everyone is doing the best they can and who am I to talk about them or their business and judge them? Not only that but I want to be aware of all of the little ways I judge others so that I can put a stop to it. You know the little things like seeing someone in a store with funky clothes on and thinking something snarky about it. Everyone is different and I need to see that and appreciate it for what it is instead of judging them.
I'd also like to have a daily quiet, devotional time with God. I've gotten better in the last half of this year but I really want to commit to it and to improving my prayer life.
I want to get a weight set and do the exercises in (that book I can't remember the name of about women and weight training).

Begin to cook more healthy meals, and more importantly learn to use left overs and shop with coupons. Purge 50% of my closet and craft room. Eliminate playing on my phone/iPad while eating and watching TV. I want to practice being more focused and present with what I'm doing.
I did really good with last years. Read more, eliminate trashy reality TV and only allow 4 hours of TV a week and drink more water. I've stuck to those and am really pleased by this.

I have found myself in the gossip circle amongst my friends and work colleagues and I really hate this about myself. I'm going to add this to my list! My husband and I are also going to start attending church regularly. I grew up in an atheist family, he grew up very catholic. He wants to return to his childhood values and I'm curious to see what religion is all about.

Spend more time on my hobbies. Cut back on expenses and save. Eat healthy. I know I can. When we cook it is healthy so cook more. Get a good routine going. Exercise more. Be more selfish - start putting me first and not compremising all the time and not doing what I want.
