My much anticipated (not in a good way!) struggle with Roseacea began in the last year. It's hereditary. My mom, grandpa, and several aunt/uncles have all had it. I knew it was only a matter of time for me too. Sure enough...here it is. It got bad fast, too. Flared up very frequently and my checks were constantly flaky and dry. Lotions didn't help. The breakouts were getting painful. I was getting very upset.
I went to the dermatologist last month. She prescribed metro-lotion. I went to fill it, only to find out that it is $275 a tube. (High deductible insurance, no prescription coverage). Uh...no thanks.
So I happened to be talking to my hair sylist, who also sells Norwex products. She was telling me about the anti-bacterial properties of the washcloths, and that they help her dd acne. So I asked for one to try. Let me tell you, I think I have discovered a miracle! I've been using them for about 2 weeks now, and my symptoms are greatly reduced! The redness is nearly gone, and the breakout have stopped. The dryness is totally gone too. I'm really thrilled! I'm ordering more washcloths and I'm going to try a facial cream they sell that containe jojoba oils...I read that jojoba is really good for Roseacea.
Anyway, thought I'd share...

The anti-bacterial properties of the washcloths is the silver that is tightly woven into the washcloths. Silver is a natural anti-bacterial product.
I have been using the Norwex for about 10 years. They work very well.

I found metro gel and anything that the dermatologist prescribed did not work. I did use the Rosacea products from Mario Badescu for years, and it worked great. Then I started going to an esthetician about 2 months ago. She is AMAZING and now I have switched to the Dermalogica Ultracalming products. WOW! My skin feels the best it ever has. She is doing more for my skin than a dermatologist ever did.

I also suffer from rosacea. It could be worse, but I'm always looking for new info on the topic. Thanks for sharing what works and doesn't work fellow peas.

Metrogel always made mine worse. I may have to check into those washclothes.
The only time mine seems to totally clear up is when I have been on Ceflex (sp) after my surgeries to prevent infection. My skin gets so pretty and clear then.

Oracea is a prescription specifically for Rosacea. It works great for clearing up my skin! We start a new type of insurance coverage in January. I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it then.

Patter, what Dermalogica products do you use? This is what the esthetician recommended that I have been using and love. These are in the order I used them. *Dermalogica PreCleanse *Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser *Dermalogica Ultracalming Mist *Dermalogica UltraCalming Serum Concentrate *Dermalogica Super Sensitive Shield Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 (use during day) *Dermalogica Barrier Repair (use at night) Hope that helps.

I am glad you found something that works. I am wondering if this is what I have... It showed up shortly after we got the hot tub. I thought it was the chlorine but I haven't gotten my face wet in the hot tub for a couple months and it hasn't gone away. It is red, dry and flaky.

Dermalogica has a promotion going on right now on their website using code THANKSFOR2014.
I find any treatment is only effective for a limited time. I have found prescriptions or skin care lines several times that seemed to be THE answer. And they were - for a time. Unfortunately this is one of those conditions that seems prone to eliciting a rebound effect in treatments. You'll probably find you'll have to switch treatments up over the years.
