My Reese girl is afraid of everything. We don't believe she had a very good home life in her previous home (she was a breeder for a backyard breeder). Her most funny thing to be afraid of is her own reflection. She saw herself in the bathroom mirror and now she thinks a dog lives in there and anytime she goes in there she stares up at the mirror as if expecting a dog to jump out at her.
She was also terrified of SO for the first 2 years after we got her. She wouldn't go near him at all and would bark at him if he entered a room she was in. Was always funny because SO is the guy all the animals love. She loves him now always lays on him and cuddles with him at night.

I mentioned yesterday that our 100# lab is scared of the crockpot. He shakes and runs and hides in the bedroom if I pull it out. He is a counter cruiser so not sure if he got too close and it was hot or the lid rattled one day when it was on high.
He also is scared of a baby gate.
he will not go down the basement stairs.. He will never ever go down. He barks and his claws go out when you sit on the steps and try to coax him down. I hope a tornado never comes through cause I will never get him downstairs.

doGs hear a lot more than we do. What is loud to us is even louder to them. and I think there's a 'whine' that comes with the fireworks that drives them nuts.
my pup doesn't like off road vehicles, birds or anything that flutters or flies - even tall weeds flowing in the wind. I had to teach her that she could get her toy if it went behind a door, the fan or anything else in the way (when I threw it - I'm not a real good aim). She would just look at it, stand there and wiggle. Sometimes she'd start toward the toy then stop, start, stop - look at me, look at toy... She is so funny. she chases her tail and barks at it - going around and around in circles. Any loud noise can set her off - the neighbor hammering, a saw, a door slamming.

Our dog Cinnamon was afraid of DH's Homer Simpson slippers. When he walked around in them, she would bark and bark at them. I have no idea why she reacted to them that way.

Molly isn't afraid of much... But she does go pretty far out of her way to avoid manhole covers. We had one in front of our old house, and every time we'd walk by it, she'd pull me all the way to the other side of the street. She's not fond of indoor stairs, either. We've never figured that one out. She never fell down them as a puppy or anything. But she HATES them. Needs serious coaxing going both up and down. The new house has tile stairs, and we bought adhesive carpet treads for them to help her. The things we do for our pets...
While she's not afraid of much, she pretty neurotic. Thankfully, it's not nearly as bad in the new house as it was in the old one. There, she would only walk out of our kitchen into the dining room BACKWARDS. I kid you not. Oh, and to keep her in one section of the house, we can use a 12" board (a shelf, actually). She will not jump over it, although at almost 80 pounds, it wouldn't be hard. When we had our cat, she'd go over it with ease and then look at Molly as if to say, "What is WRONG with you???"
Oy...

The 80lb Greyhound is afraid of plastic bags, empty cans, leaves blowing, loud voices, water, carbonated drinks and anything besides animals that moves on its own. The 65Lb Greyhound hates thunder and fireworks and the 40Lb Whippet, big Whippet is not afraid of anything.

My dog is afraid of...wait for it....his own POOP! He will go right up and sniff another dog's poop, but when he poops, he does it as fast as he can and then he RUNS and hides behind me until I pick it up.
He's also afraid of his own farts. It's hilarious.

People on wheels (skateboards, skates, scooters--but not bikes), a fly inside the house after dark (during the day he'll try to catch them, but once the sun sets, he has to find a niche in which to hide), water, and the refrigerator ice maker. He's cool with thunder and fireworks though.

Along with fireworks and thunder, Louis is afraid of any "dinging" noise. Just about every commercial lately has some type of dinging/ringing- drives him crazy. And he can't stand the telephone ringing on Mad Men or the elevator. He runs and hides in the bathroom.

Our old man yellow lab won't walk on the wood floor in dh's home office. We thought he'd get used to it but hasn't in the 9 of his 10 years we've had it. He also won't walk on my niece's tile floor...when she watched him for us, she had to make a path of towels for him to walk to the back door to go outside!
In january, we pulled out the carpet in our upstairs hall and gameroom and replaced it with wood flooring. We had to buy long stupid carpet runners so he would come up stairs! When he's in my son's room, he won't come out unless he knows he's the only one in the hallway, and he runs all weird and crouched down to the stairs.

Our puppy (5 mos.) is afraid of cars, the driveway, etc. If we try to walk and a car comes by he tries to run into anyone's yard. If we've gone for a ride and I pull him out of the car first and put him down on the driveway he pull trying to get off the driveway. It's being next to the car that freaks him out. The first time it happened I just about dropped our 2nd dog he was pulling so much. Now I put her down first and then get him out.
While a little fear of cars isn't bad, he's crazy fearful! Just a neighborhood walk is a chore!
