I'm sitting tonight feeling sorry for myself. I won't depress you all with the reasons why, but I'm not helping myself by trawling through my PC for sad songs to play! Do you do that? I get onto my kids when they do, but I don't let on that I do. Anyway, the one that reduces me to tears every single time is The Winner Takes It All by Abba. It is so sad. And when I sing it, I remember the video for it too, and the band's back story, and it makes me bawl all the louder! And now I feel a little better... Oh yes, and Abba's Slipping Through My Fingers has the exact same effect.

There You'll Be by Faith Hill (from the movie Pearl Harbor). I cry like a baby every single time I hear it.

I'm a total sap. Lots of songs make me cry. Christmas music, especially Judy Garland's version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, does it every time. Private Malone is another non-Xmas one. I cry when I watch videos of flash mobs. My family gives me a really hard time about it in a teasing, sweet kind of way.
I'm sorry you're feeling down and hope you feel better soon.

I have a musician friend who always says "Sad songs make you happy!"
Seven Spanish Angels Country Bumpkin Don't Take The Girl
Most any of the sappy songs by Red Sovine. (I can't believe I admitted that one.)

Neil Young - Here For You
Danced to this song at my wedding with my dad and I sobbed in every single picture.

Lets Kiss and Say Goodbye by The Manhattans was playing on the way to my fathers burial and someone in hospice hit repeat on I'm Gonna Be Ready by Yolanda Adams while my mother died.
Last week I was listening to Pandora radio when I'm Gonna Be Ready played. It shocked me because the station I was listening to wasnt of the gospel variety. On that occasion I smiled because it made me feel closer to my mother.

"Testify to love" by Wynona Judd. It's not because of the song, it's because of the Touched by an Angel episode she sang it on.

Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman The entire album that song is on is dedicated to his daughter that was killed in their driveway by her older brother in a terrible accident. I can't even imagine how he must have felt. The whole family really. That particular song is about taking time to dance with "your Cinderella" because "one day she'll be gone". Rips my heart out. And as jenjie said below, the song is about making time to spend time with your child, it was released after her death and that holds meaning in the song. Edited for clafirification.

Mine is I'll Be by Reba McIntire
My daughter and I LOVE that song. We always called it our song. She made me a needle point of it one year for my birthday and framed. Also she was in Choir at school for years and years and her senior year she did her first Solo. She didn't tell me about it, she told me once again that she didn't get a solo. The night of the concert we were sitting waiting for it to start and I was reading the Program and it had her listed and that she was singing that song. She ordered the original sheet music for it and everything. I started crying right away. I couldn't even look at her when she was singing because I was crying and when she saw me her voice started breaking. Very special night for me. Now at special times we will write Ill Be in cards or just a text.
Now I am tearing up thank you very much
Edited to add the lyrics
"I'll Be"
When darkness falls upon your heart and soul. I'll be the light that shines for you. When you forget how beautiful you are I'll be there to remind you. When you can't find your way, I'll find my way to you. When troubles come around, I will come to you.
I'll be your shoulder when you need someone to lean on. Be your shelter. When you need someone to see you through. I'll be there to carry you. I'll be there. I'll be the rock that will be strong for you. The one that will hold on to you. When you feel that rain falling down. When there's nobody else around. I'll be.
And when you're there with no one there to hold. I'll be the arms that reach for you. And when you feel your faith is running low. I'll be there to believe in you. When all you find are lies. I'll be the truth you need. When you need someone to run to . You can run to me
I'll be your shoulder when you need someone to lean on. Be your shelter. When you need someone to see you through. I'll be there to carry you. I'll be there. I'll be the rock that will be strong for you. The one that will hold on to you. When you feel that rain falling down. When there's nobody else around. I'll be.
I'll be the sun. When your heart's filled with rain. I'll be the one. To chase the rain away.
I'll be your shoulder when you need someone to lean on. Be your shelter. When you need someone to see you through. I'll be there to carry you. I'll be there. I'll be the rock that will be strong for you. The one that will hold on to you. When you feel that rain falling down. When there's nobody else around. I'll be. I'll be.

That particular song is about taking time to dance with "your Cinderella" because "one day she'll be gone". Rips my heart out. Oh my yes. Although he wrote it to acknowledge the passing of time as his little girl was growing up. But it holds so much more meaning than was first intended. I don't know how he has the strength to get up and sing that song over and over. Backstory: www.947krks.com/11601489/print/

Steve Martin & Edie Brikell's "Love Has Come for You" - I heard it soon after my daddy died and I broke down in a crying mess while in the drive-thru line at Chick-fil-a. It's a beautiful song but I just can't...

Dancing in the sky- Dani and Lizzy. I'm pretty sure dani and Lizzy covered this song. Their version is amazing. Makes me think of my dad Another one bites the Dust- Queen. Yes, I know odd to cry over this but this song is tied to personal reasons that just make me a crying mess when I hear it.

"Eagle When She Flies" by Dolly Parton. It reminds me of my grandmother who passed away a few years ago and was also played at the funeral of a dear friend who passed this fall.
"Sissy's Song" by Alan Jackson.
"Go Rest High On That Mountain" by Vince Gill.
"My Old Kentucky Home" especially before the Derby. (I'm a proud Ky girl).
Also, the National Anthem and a few traditional hymns seem to always make me cry.

For me it's The Rose by Bette Midler.
My Dad sang that song at our wedding and he has since passed away. Everytime I hear it, it makes me weepy.
