I had posted back at Christmas that DH had to stay home from Christmas because our cat was sick with a respiratory infection. He was getting better, but then completely stopped eating. The vet said that was completely normal and we went through giving him calorie gel supplements and trying to get him to eat. But when he wouldn't start back eating the vet ran x-rays and Murr had a very large cancer mass. There was nothing they could do. He started going downhill VERY quickly and started to hurt on the very day we found out (yesterday). So my sweet baby kitty Murray is gone.
<----- rest in peace, Murray kitty. You are SO loved.

I am so very sorry for your loss. No one could have loved Murray more than you did, and he felt that love every day.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 17 year old Pouncer yesterday, too. Murray looks like a sweetie.

I am so very sorry for your loss OP. We lost my son's 17 year old cat in September due to stomach cancer. He seemed fine one day and the next he was vomiting blood. Took him to the vet and they told us he had stomach cancer-there wasn't a thing we could do. Please do NOT blame yourselves. We humans often do that, but try to do yourselves a favor and don't go down that road. Your sweet Murray is at peace now and I believe at the Rainbow Bridge-James, DS's cat probably greeted him.
Also, Justcallmemommy I am so sorry for your loss of Pouncer too. So many cats seem to be passing away lately it seems. After we lost James, we also lost Biru in December. Please know the same condolences and advice I wrote above apply to you too. I know just how heartbreaking it is.
I will keep both of you in my thoughts. Take care,
Debbie in MD.

Our first cat had died a couple of weeks before and the vet called one afternoon and said they had the perfect cat for us. I drove straight down and got him. He was 3 months old. They said his name was Jim. I thought about that and when DH got home I said, "This is Murray. He lives here now." DH was so happy he never even questioned the name. And I'm very sorry for your loss, too!

And sorry for your loss. 17 years is a long time so I can't imagine you being without him. Although DH and I are so sad, we do realize there is nothing more either we or the vet could have done. It really looked like a normal respiratory infection. If only...

I'm so sorry for your loss And for everyone else's losses. I know my kitty is living on borrowed time but he keeps hanging in there and I'm grateful for whatever time we have.

That is so sad, I'm sorry for your loss It is extremely hard to lose a pet. Every time it happens, I always say it hurts too bad and I will never get another pet, so I don't have to go through the loss again... But I do have 2 sweet new kitties now. The joy they bring is worth it. I am sure you have many sweet memories of Murray to treasure, and it sounds like you gave him lots of love. (Is your name Melody? That's my name... Don't meet too many others that share this name!)

I'm so sorry. My kitty Speckles was recently diagnosed with cancer too. Hugs. Thanks. And sorry about Speckles. I honestly don't know if it would be better to learn about it and have some time to worry over it, yet get to spend some more time with them OR to have it happen so quickly like with Murray. Either way sucks. I hope Speckles comes through ok!

I don't think I've ever met another!

I honestly don't know if it would be better to learn about it and have some time to worry over it, yet get to spend some more time with them OR to have it happen so quickly like with Murray. Either way sucks. I hope Speckles comes through ok! I totally understand both. While I was preparing for my cat to die last spring, before we found out that he can be treated and have more time, my dog was my rock. I cried so much over my cat. Then one day, my dog had a series of massive seizures that left her partially paralyzed and I think blinded and confused and she had to be put down. Just like that, no warning whatsoever. We had just been on a 7 mile hike a few days before and she was playful and active. I was blindsided. My car is still here, and though he's fragile and needs special care, he's not in any pain and gets around just fine and still purrs with me at bedtime. I'm ok with whenever he goes now because I've had a lot of time to face it and I just enjoy the extra time we've gotten. Neither way is easy, and I am grateful that my dog never had to be sick or weak, unlike my cat. There isn't a good answer Sorry this was so long!
