Vote for Joe!This news story is local to me. They found Joe the cat on the side of the road with 17 pellets from a pellet gun lodged in his head. I don't think they ever found the perpetrator. Joe was rescued and is doing well now, though he lost an eye. Now he's been nominated for an award in the Modern Cat Star Cat Contest. If you'd like to, could you vote for Joe? Our whole community would love to see Joe win after all he's been through.

I voted. Is this one of those type that we can vote for once every 24 hours? If so, remind me again tomorrow and I'll vote again. I am thoroughly disgusted that anyone could do that a harmless animal. And Joe is such a sweet looking guy. Bless the people that rescued him and now treat him as he deserves.
After reading about poor Joe, I had to go find my indoor/outdoor kitty to make him come in early. I'm not a fan of outdoor cats at all anyway, and thinking of the fact that there are people capable of hurting an animal like this was too much for me. Tigre is now in for the night. We've gotten into a routine where I no longer put food outside for him. If he wants to eat, he has to come in my house. He sticks around my front porch snoozing on one of my chairs during the day, but I'm just not comfortable until he's inside and safe when I go to bed at night. He used to be quite skittish coming in the house, but now he eats, jumps up onto his blanket on the couch, and that's usually where I find him the next morning.
Who else brought their cat in after reading this? If you have an indoor/outdoor cat, that is.

Voted! What a pretty cat!
We have an outdoor cat because he was a stray who just showed up one day. I made him come in tonight (before I read about Joe, though) because it is so cold out. He used to stay in more. Don't know why he doesn't want to come in.
A few years ago he was injured in some way. He had a half-dollar sized hole in his chest. You could literally SEE his heart. We took him to the vet of course and there the wound was cleaned and he was put on antibiotics. We made him stay inside for a month. When the hole finally closed up we let him out again.
We have no idea what could cause an injury like that.
