Peep Toed Boots??? WTF??? Why?
Stupidest. Thing. Ever.
I want big, warm, winter boots to walk the dog and shovel the walk. Fashion has zero to do with it. In fact, I should have stolen my brother's wonderful, lovely, warm, clunky, not fashionable, warm to -eleventy billion degrees Celcius white Sorel boots when I had them on over Christmas. I just want a pair like that. And while looking for boots on the Sorel site I find this stupidity? I can't fathom any reason why anyone would wear that. Ugh. I should have stolen my brother's boots.

I have several pairs of shoes like that. But only because my dog got a hold of them when he was a puppy....

Beyond the fact that they have a hole in the front, they are butt ugly!

I once saw a girl on the train wearing boots that had less coverage than some sandals. I was also like "Why?" I never saw them again. Which was a good thing, since I was afraid she had discovered an upcoming trend.
Found some on eBay while looking for an image. The description is: NUDE OPEN TOE STRAPPY LACE UP BUTTERFLY CUT OUT GLADIATOR FLAT SANDAL PUMP BOOTS.

Because some people, like me, think of boots as winter boots or rain boots and some people view them as just fun shoes.

Why can't there be both? There are plenty of giant clunky boots that are warm. Why can't there be boots that are just pretty (though the ones you linked are super ugly)? I'd wear an impractical boot in spring or autumn.
I live in one of the coldest cities in Canada. I only wear pretty leather boots to work. They're warm and comfortable so I don't need anything else.
At home I have big clunky Sorel- style boots for shovelling the driveway etc.
I need both options in my life.

These have been around a few seasons now, and honestly I'm not sure why it's any different than any other peep-toed shoe, especially the ones in your picture which clearly aren't meant for inclement weather. I have a pair of peep-toed booties that are more like a dress bootie with a high heel. You're not going to wear something like that on the streets in Minneapolis in January, but many climates are mild enough to wear a peep-toed boot for much of the winter without any problem.

There was a time when I only purchased peep toed shoes because the shoes pressed down on my big toe and made my feet hurt. I later learned that that part of the shoe is called the box, and I needed a mfg that made the box larger. I stuck with that mfg and no longer had big toe pressure problems.
However, if I lived where the weather was bad and I needed boots, there would NOT be a peep toe on the boot!!

I don't consider those boots. They're just quirky (and ugly) shoes.

Looking at them fabric color etc I don't think they are winter boots but fashion boots... I think they are kind of cute. Not for me... but I can see them being cute with the right outfit and not in the snow in January.
Cute boots on that website.

Maybe some people like a bit of air circulation? Those boots don't look like winter boots to me. If a winter boot had a hole by the toes, I don't think it would sell well!

I actually think those are super cute. Of course they aren't meant for bad weather, and they wouldn't be even if the toe were covered; they're fabric and I would assume it's not waterproof. Some things in life are for fashion and some things in life are for function. There's room for both.

I totally agree. I look at winter and boots as "the season I can stop obsessing about the condition of my toenails and heels for a few months." Not that I run around like a sasquatch with untrimmed claws, but you know, I can relax my standards a bit, and I definitely give my nails a break from polish, which I think is healthy.

1. those shoes are just plain ugly (to me.) They look unfinished, like some one forgot to do something about the toe. 2. I don' like boots in general, they make my toes like they are in prison. 3. They seem to have an issue deciding what shoe category to be in-boots, opened toed shoes, Pick a shoe personality and stick with it. 4. Wouldn't opened toed boots defeat the purpose of keeping inclement weather out of your shoes?

4. Wouldn't opened toed boots defeat the purpose of keeping inclement weather out of your shoes? I have two pairs of snow boots, a pair of rain boots, and a dozen+ pairs of fashion boots that have nothing to do with inclement weather, some of which have heels so high they would even be dangerous out in bad weather! Boots for me are rarely about keeping out inclement weather.

Honestly, I am just not a fan of boots in general, but then again I prefer flip flops and I know how people hate them too.

Not that I run around like a sasquatch with untrimmed claws, but you know, I can relax my standards a bit, and I definitely give my nails a break from polish, which I think is healthy. Exactly. Winter is a time of rest for feet. Why can't there be both? There are plenty of giant clunky boots that are warm. Why can't there be boots that are just pretty (though the ones you linked are super ugly)? I'd wear an impractical boot in spring or autumn. I live in one of the coldest cities in Canada. At home I have big clunky Sorel- style boots for shovelling the driveway etc. I need both options in my life. Why not both? Because it doesn't make sense to me. Kind of like heels... they make no sense and are just torture devices. Anything other than clunky Sorels are just painful... and to be honest, I don't think girly boots are very flattering. I'm all about comfort when it comes to footware. Especially boots. Any kind of pressure or contriction? Automatic no go for me. Thus proper Sorels. 1. those shoes are just plain ugly (to me.) They look unfinished, like some one forgot to do something about the toe. 1. Totally. 2. Not just my toes, but my legs, ankles, feet... everything really. It's a prison in fashionable boots. Men's Artic Sorels? Lovely. 3. Yup. Probably another reason why I hate them. 4. Totally defeats the purpose. But apparently boots aren't for that purpose.

Well, fashion isn't meant to be intelligent. I think it is the legal sale of torture devices.

those are not really boots though. Those are more like booty shoes. I don't like them mind you, but based on your outrage I was expecting honest to goodness winter boots with the toes out.

I know nothing about ladies' fashion for ages 20-35. Nothing. Zip. I do know ugly. I do have experience with that white stuff on the ground called 'snow' or as we on the ''Wet coast" call it rain. And I also know getting my toes wet is just about enough to make me want to scream. Getting my toes frost bitten or wet is up there with making me want to take a razor blade to my toes and then rubbing with coarse salt. I hate getting my feet wet. Ate it.
Dumb fashion idea.
Baby llama priceless.

Not that anyone cares but I wore my black boots over my fat, ugly calves yesterday over leggings under a dress. (I don't know what got into me) and honestly the leggings looked good and the boots looked great. I am not for a second saying my calves aren't fat as they are. They didn't look half bad that's all.
