I have never done it and am considering it. Just wondering if anyone has taken it and really thought it was worth it or not? Also is there any per class stuff suggestions to get ready for it? I am curious I just can't get myself to take the plunge I am afraid I won't actually follow through and get pages done. At the same time I am in a rut and would love to break out of it.

I have done LOAD a bunch of times and have completed all the days almost every time. It's not really worth the money if you aren't committed going into it. The first time I took it, it really changes the way I scrapped. I was forced to make some fast decisions and it really helped me stretch as a scrapper.
I am signed up for February and the only prep work is to get some photos printed and maybe have some ideas of stories you want to document. You don't have to follow the prompt everyday and some days may be vague or uninspiring.
Good luck and I hope you join in!

Obviously you can't give too much information about the prompts but are they just a simple prompt like the app which is just a sentence or phrase or are they more detailed like a paragraph or so? Just trying to get an idea.
I really need a jump start.

I have done LOAD twice a year for maybe 3 years now. Most of the time I don't do all the days, but I get pretty close. Maybe twice I did all the days. I think for it to be worth the money you have to be willing and able to commit to some scrappy time each day or almost every day.
The prompts usually come in a 2-3 minute video. Some are more specific, but most are open ended enough that you can do go many different ways. She shows an example of a page using the prompt (there are usually 3 different scrappers that rotate showing their LOs). She also gives some ideas as to how you might use the prompt.
You can also get ideas from other LOADsters in the Flickr gallery. It is a very supportive community and lots of love gets shared on the LOs that are posted.

Prep work I do for LOAD:
1) Get lots of adhesive. You don't want to run out.
2) Have lots of photos on hand
3) I make up some page kits maybe 2-5 for days that I am just not feeling too inspired. I make that page usually following a sketch I have on my Pinterest board. Something that will come together quickly.
4) Go in with the attitude that I will try to make a layout a day, but if I can't I won't give up. I'll finish it the next day or skipping a day is okay. I will have more LOs than what I started with at the end.

I've blogged about LOAD a bunch; you can read the entries here if you'd like I think the cost is definitely worth it. It's very motivating to be given an in-depth prompt each day with layout samples and then get the encouragement of other "Loadsters" in the Flickr group. I love seeing all the layouts of other "regular scrappers" like me. They give me ideas if I'm stuck. I don't think I've ever completed an actual layout a day - but like ReneeH20 said - I end up with a lot more layouts than if I *didn't* do LOAD.

I found out about LOAD after meeting some great ladies from the Scrap Happy group at a crop last summer. When they talked about LOAD, I thought they were nuts! Who does a layout a day?!? Well I signed up and did my first LOAD this past October, and yup, I did a layout a day for 31 days!!! I think that is more layouts than I've done in a year!!! The prompts are around a theme, but you can interpret the theme literally or more openly. OR, like me, you can go off prompt and just get some pictures scrapped that you are trying to get done. I absolutely loved it, loved the encouragement, loved the inspiration, and what surprised me the most, was that I loved telling stories that i would not have thought of without the prompts. funny side note: I'm retired now, so mostly home during the day, but I still found myself not making it to my scrap room til after dinner most days! I also spent some time at my daughter's house and brought along a kit or two so that I could do a layout up there. So yeah, those LOADsters are nuts!

silly question………..but can you do LOAD if you're only do a one picture layout? Sure! Anything goes pretty much. I think Lain says, "It's a layout if you think it's a layout" as long as it's 6x6 or larger. It can even be with no photos. She just wants us to get layouts done and moments recorded. Oh, Project Life-type layouts count, too.

So question....what is this time's theme? I read it and can't remember but it seemed pretty specific and I'm thinking "Do I want 31 layouts about that theme?" I'm still confused about how it works.

I'm curious about the same thing, Tracie. The theme is something about "Once Upon A Time"--celebrating stories from our youth...paraphrasing here. Yeah, not too sure about that theme.

Here's the thing: the theme prompt for each day can be interpreted many different ways: very literally, more symbolically, or not at all. Some people seem to be pretty happy scrapping really literally based on the daily prompt. Many people took it in their own direction, and still others didn't respond to the prompt at all. It's really up to you. What I liked is that the prompts I didn't scrap about I have for any future pages I may want to make. The October LOAD theme was school--as in high school--but it didn't mean you had to dig out your saddle shoes and pom poms to make a page! Does that help?

Well did you end up making 30 layouts about school? How would you use a prompt and not make it about school? Can you give me an example? Thanks!!

One prompt was about lockers or book bags or something. I had a picture of my daughter when she was a baby and had climbed inside my husband's gym bag. Other people showed what was in their purse or how they were crazy about different bags. Not sure that's a good explanation but no, I only stayed on prompt a few times but have all the prompts and the inspiration from the other ladies to go back to. It really was great, imho.

I did LOAD back in May, and the prompts were centered around scrapping your childhood. Let me tell you, I LOVED it! It just so happened that I had pulled together a ton of photos of me when I was a child, and I had just won a large pack of MME neutral papers. I had the most fun pulling together little mini-kits each day and making the layout that evening. I managed to finish one a day, too - had a blast doing it!
I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you're not sure about the theme. You never know where your creativity may take you, and you may be inspired to tell some stories you haven't even thought of yet. And as others have said, the community there is super supportive, and that just makes it more rewarding. I say go for it!

I have signed up for my first LOAD and am really looking forward to it! However, I would not be able to scrap pictures of myself growing up because people back then hardly ever took pictures! So I have very few pictures of my childhood. But I'm sure I could direct the theme to my children or grandchildren. I am not concentrating so much on the theme but on getting a daily layout done. That is what I am challenging myself to do. Wish me luck!
