Dh and I just watched the Pilot for hopefully a new Amazon Prime TV series based on a novel by Philip K Dick and produced by Ridley Scott - The Man in the High Castle. If there is enough interest in the pilot, they will go on to make the full series.
It it is an alternate history in which we lost WWII and the U.S. is divided in half with Germany occupying the East Coast and Japan the West. The story starts in 1962.
My husband is a huge alternate history fan, so we were going to watch no matter what. It has gotten excellent reviews and we really enjoyed it and hope hope hope they will continue it.
So, just a recommendation - if you are looking for something really good to watch, like alternate history, and can stream Amazon video, check it out. It is free, I think even without prime, so there is nothing to lose!

Sigh. You people and your unlimited internet. It makes me so sad..... I wish I could watch these shows that are on Amazon and NetFlix, but I have a data cap every month. Country living sucks sometimes. It seems like so much of the "good" TV is going to this now. It's just not fair!

That sounds very cool, thanks for the recommendation! For some reason I have been on a WWII kick with books lately, so this will fit right in.

That really does stink, especially with Netflix and Amazon starting to make their own shows. On the upside, you don't have to deal with urban traffic.

We just read that book in my HS Reading Club. It's an awesome story and the students were enthralled by the alternate scenario depicted by Dick. I can't wait to watch the show. Thank you!

Since the pilot is only an hour, and it is free, you could watch it with the students and discuss similarities with and differences from the book. Also, what they think goes into the process of adapting a book to a screenplay. It could be a great discussion with high school kids!

One of the actor's on this show was on a talk show last week or so. It sounded interesting if you like drama. I am much happier with comedies.

This was filmed in WA state, some of it in my home town. In fact, my sister and her husband own two vintage stock Volkswagens which they drove in the movie. My sis had a blast being on set for several days. A lot more video was shot than what was used in the pilot that will hopefully be used in future episodes if they're picked up. I had fun watching the pilot last night looking for my sis to go driving by and I did spot her.
