This is a big one for us Seahawks fans! I had an appetizer potluck last weekend for the game, but it turned into a bit of a clusterf*** so I'm planning a bit more organization for the Big Game!
What is on your SuperBowl party menu? I need ideas!

I'm not because I can't watch the game live. Yes I'm that superstitious But most people I know add blue and green food whenever they can. Guac, salsa, queso dip, blue and green chips And the the usual lil smokies in some fashion, veggie tray, crab dip, cheese and crackers, summer sausage, more chips and dips

We are making pizzas. Our friends will bring cupcakes, chips and dip, salsa, wings, and beer.

Why was the appetizer potluck a clusterf*ck?

Why was the appetizer potluck a clusterf*ck? Because I wasn't super specific on what people should bring and we had way too much of one thing (chips) and not enough of others. It was my fault but I want to try something different this time around.

I'm not hosting a party but our local bar has a Souper Bowl contest where everyone makes and brings their favorite soup to be judged. You could do that without the contest part of it, just have everyone bring their favorite soup. Then just serve different kinds of breads and dessert.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! Usually I just watch the game for the commercials but since my team is in this year, I really want to watch the game! That means coming up with easy things that I can just put out and not have to worry about. There are some good ideas in this thread!

My crew wants hot wings and sliders, so I'm making honey sriracha wings and mushroom and beef sliders. We'll also have chips and dips, veggie tray, cupcakes. Thinking about a macaroni salad too. Maybe some popcorn in bowls around the room. Our colors will be red, white and blue though!

That means coming up with easy things that I can just put out and not have to worry about. There are some good ideas in this thread! I have 3 of the mini crockpots so I always do a couple of hot dips. Then I use my smallish crockpot for lil smokies or meatballs. That will keep you from having to watch the table. I also put slices of bread for the dips and crackers in bowls or baskets so I don't have to refill them often.

It was my fault but I want to try something different this time around. I thought that might be the problem. What if you did a taco/nacho bar? You can either do it all yourself, or you can ask people to bring specific things. Or Sloppy Joes, pulled pork, bbq brisket sandwiches, etc.

Check out the recipe board here for copycat White Castle sliders. They are really easy to make and very tasty.

We are serving
Buffalo Chicken soup Sweet and sour meatballs hummus and veggies cocktail wieners chips and pretzels
And we always break out the indoor smores maker so the kids can make smores and roast the cocktail wieners over the fire. The rest of the guests bring an appetizer of their choice. The rule is they have to take home what is left over.

Meatballs, Cheese balls, popcorn balls, and for dessert chocolate coconut balls.
Not really, but if I was having a party, I would so do this!

Sounds good but none of those balls will deflate during the game. A soufflé might be a good idea, nice and full when it comes out but flat a few minutes later.

My sister hosts a party and they always have bbq roast beef sandwiches, meatballs in the crockpot, macaroni salad and then guests bring something. I am seriously considering making one of those snack stadiums I've seen on Pinterest. We have also tossed around a baked potato bar - I'll cook the potatoes wrapped in foil ahead of time, stack them in a foil lined cooler and they stay hot forever. In fact they get really steamy and soft in the cooler. Guests can bring the fixings.

A taco bar might be a really good idea. That way I can tell people what to bring No offense but it didn't work so well the last time telling people what to bring I think you just have a nice variety available that you make and just chill a bit on letting people bring what they want. Maybe make a bunch of hot dips so the inevitable everyone brings chips happens again you are ready with a bunch of dips to go with.

My husband always fixed paella when we had parties. It's a Spanish dish with rice, chorizo, chicken, mussels, shrimp, clams, scallops, etc. It's so good, but expensive! One of the ingredients is saffron and it's like $17 for a spice size bottle! But it's so good! Everyone loves it because it's not something they have had outside or our party. My inlaws make it for Christmas every year. We also get a lot of appetizers at Costco, fruit salad, vegetable tray, chili (for those that don't like seafood), chicken nuggets and French fries for the picky kids (not my daughters, they eat everything). Our guest usually like to bring desserts and I get ice cream and hot fudge, etc.
My husband loves doing all the cooking for parties! He is good at multi-tasking. I get stressed out trying to cook all that at once.
We haven't had a Super Bowl party in a few years now. When our friends kids were not in school yet, they could stay for most of the game. Now they are all in school, so no one can stay past half time (our "party" friends live over 30 min. away). They miss a lot of the game, so no fun for them. We spend a lot of money, and only have a short party, so we all decided to stop the parties until the kids are in high school.

Maybe make a bunch of hot dips so the inevitable everyone brings chips happens again you are ready with a bunch of dips to go with. The problem as I mentioned earlier was that I didn't tell people what to being other than appetizers. To most that meant chips. Assigning people part of a taco bar like cheese, lettuce etc solves that issue.
