I need to see some pictures of your creations to cheer me up today. Show me what you have made lately. Here's my latest creation. It is a little mini quilt that I made to test out an idea. I'm currently making it again in rainbow colors for a swap I'm doing.

Just a tablecloth. Easy peasy hemming is all it took.

Love your mini quilt, scissorsister7. The colours are so bright and cheery. I am still working on the landscape wall hanging I posted the other day when I asked for some help with it. It's not hard, I'm just pokey!

I am, right now, at this very minute, taking a break from a valentine hand towel. I have cut the linen and am trying to sew a pretty hem. First the fabric hem was too wide (and too heavy) for the size of the towel. So I tore it out. Then the hem was crooked. So I tore it out. Then I tried a different stitch, and it was ugly, so I tore it out. After tearing out no less than four different hem stitching, and reironing the folds umpteen times, I am pretty much irritated with the whole project.

I love it! I have a thing for polka dots. I shared my plus quilt and a kitchen apron the other day but I hadn't taken a picture of this apron yet. I made it the same weekend as the kitchen apron.

I have leftover squares from a quilt I made for my husband (my first quilt ever!) in 2012, I just came upon them during a de-cluttering cycle. I haven't started yet but I am going to use them to make a camping pillow for him for Valentine's Day. This is just a few of the squares and I clearly have to be more careful to make sure all of the red is going the same direction before I sew .

Beautiful work ladies!! Thanks for sharing:)
I haven't made anything recently since I was away for 3 weeks over the holidays and I've been hosting visitor in Japan for the last 11 days. I abandoned her to go to the Tokyo International Quilt Show yesterday. It's the largest in the world and it was awesome. Completely mind boggling and humbling for me as a beginner to see such intricate creations. The theme was ''Little House on the Prairie' which was fantastic. They also had a huge display of Hawaiian/Japanese quilter Kathy Nakajima's work which was amazing. It was really busy and I was overwhelmed by the choice of fabrics for sale. I ended up buying two kits to make a paper pieced kimono block. I'm going to make a whole quilt using traditional Japanese fabric:)

Thanks for sharing everyone! I love seeing what others create. I am hoping to learn to free motion quilt at some point but I'm just not brave enough yet. I keep googling and watching different you tube tutorials hoping to get my courage up to try it.

Kelly -- just dive in and do it. Your first quilt may be a bit rough, but if you use busy fabrics and blendy threads, very little will show. Alternatively, quilt on something where it will show a lot, but be resigned to designating that piece as a picnic blanket or dog quilt. Quite honestly, you just have to dive in and do. By the time you finish a couple of tops, it starts to feel more fun and relaxed.
I'd post pics of recent finishes, but I've forgotten how and don't have time to go look it up. I managed to complete several tops I'd pieced a year ago, and I have a sewing room full of ideas and projects ready to go if I ever have some discretionary time.

I keep googling and watching different you tube tutorials hoping to get my courage up to try it. Go for it! Try it! Seriously! I grabbed some scraps and fiddled a bit and this is the second time I've quilted anything... If me being too impatient to read all the instructions can have success, you certainly can. What have you got to lose?

Very nice work. Questions: did you use both lime green piping in the top pocket and purple piping between the ruffle and the apron? Was that hart to attach? Just the 3 layers after you used your ultimate ruffler foot? Thanks, Your Fan

The only sewing I've done this week is a whole stack of pillowcases, both cotton and flannel ones. I'm working on building up as much stock as possible so that I'm not scrambling come October. Starting today, I'm cutting out pieces for my small project bags.

You sew the rickrack on the edge of the yoke then turn it under to form the hem so the raw edge doesn't show and the rickrack peeks out. The piping is made from bias strip folded in half and sewn with the raw edges on top of the apron front. When you add the lining and turn the apron right side out, the layers are front, two thicknesses of piping (because it's folded), the ruffle, and the lining. It's really not trouble to sew through it all if that's what you're worried about.

compwalla I just love your aprons, they are absolutely beautiful! Love all the projects on this thread. Can't wait to start sewing again once I finish all my wedding projects I have on my plate for ds's wedding.

compwalla - I have a matching adult & child apron set that you made and we just love them! My daughter told me that when she gets too big for it, I have to buy another set so we can still match.

What have I sewn lately? Nothing. I popped in to get inspiration.
Compwalla, I'll never be able to make aprons with ruffles like that so I bow down to your talent.
Quilters - lovely work. I have two that have been pending for WAY too long so I need to get started. Thanks for the push.

I finished the construction of the pillow, now I just have to stuff it. I made an inner cover that is the same size so the pillow case can be removed and washed. It will have to wait though because my husband will be home soon.

Today's lesson: I need to work on my cutting skills. Apparently measuring, cutting and having all the sides the correct lengths is beyond my ability. I won't even go into the rest of the skills I need to work on. This hand towel thing may be a bit more than I bargained for.

Yes, I took tons of photos. What would be the best way to show them on this board? Could I put them in a photo bucket album and link it, or is there an easier way? I don't want to upload each one individually.

I love your tote bags!!!! My dd would go nuts over the chicken ones. I finished quilting a pink and white string quilt that I made last year (way last year). Just took it out of the dryer and DD saw and said it was perfect for Valentines. And it went home with her before I even could take a picture. LOL!! But it thrills me to know she loves the quilts I make.

I don't want to upload each one individually. I think you should be able to link to a photo bucket album. Maybe someone else can verify that? Most people use Photobucket, I use Flickr or my blog. I find it really easy to link from my blog. Thank you Sherri! The bags are a little slick to sew on but not too bad. I use upholstery thread and got the directions from Community Chickens. If some one wants it, I'll dig up the exact link.

I made this for a friend. Her DS is deploying soon and she asked me to make a teddy bear out of his old uniforms for his 5 year old son to have while he is gone. It is currently in route to CO and I am hoping he finds it comforting while his Dad is gone. Attachments:

I can't imagine that there is a 5 year old anywhere that wouldn't appreciate it, and doubly so when it represents their dad like that.

Not the best pic, but I finally got the rows/columns sewn together and the 1st border on yesterday. Now onto the pieced border (alternating 6 inch blocks of cream and a block that I am not sure the name of -- kind of like churn dash, but modified).
I have another one I just finished that is smaller, but DS took pics of it using something other than .jpg and has to modify them for me..ugh!
