If you can, how? I have a shark vacuum that I usually use for all surfaces, but it doesn't seem to be cutting it anymore. I am sure it needs a good cleaning, but I thought I would see if anyone had some sort of device they use that works great on harder surfaces, especially in a pet loving home!
Thanks.

Does swiffering ( wet or dry) count as sweeping? That's my only contribution.

My dyson does a decent job on the bare floor setting. I use the hose for places like under the counters.

I use my vacuum on floor setting, or the hose for corners and under things.

I use my Dyson, too and then steam clean with the Shark.

I love my Swifter for picking up cat hair and dust bunnies off the floor.

I use my broom and swiffer but lately I have been using a sort of giant lint roller that's made for hard floors. It picks up crumbs, cat litter, dirt etc very nicely. I use it mainly for spot cleaning because it's kind of a pain to rinse off. But it does work.

I have an eye-vac stationary vacuum that I got from Amazon. My hair stylist has one in her shop. It is a godsend if you have pets. You sweep the hair/dirt to the vac and it sucks it up and cleans off the broom. It's very lightweight so you can move it from room to room. I LOVE that thing!

I have a handheld Dyson that has a few attachment heads - I use the long one for the kitchen/dining room daily.

I have a Bissell vac and shine that I love, love, love. It's cordless, lightweight and works great. I also have 4 pets in the house and it's perfect for picking up pet hair. I never have a problem getting in corners with it either. It's so much faster and easier than dragging out the broom and dust pan to sweep. I rarely use the wet mop side but when I have it's worked great also.

When the broom gets close it turns on, sucks up everything and turns off by itself. If I had to choose between this and my husband.....It was nice knowing him!

I swifter every day basically to pick up after the cat hair and then sweep and mop once a week at least. Some of these ideas are great. Need to look into some of these tools.

Crumbs barely make it to the floor between my two dogs, but for all over stuff I use a swifter with a fuzzy sock on it. It picks up everything and if can throw it in the was with the rest of the rags.

Why without sweeping? I find that the easiest way. If I have the Dyson out, I'll vacuum the wood floor, but otherwise I grab the broom and dustpan.

I agree, I think sweeping is easier than the vacuum, especially under the dining room table and near the cabinets. I always have trouble getting it all into the dustpan though (even with an oversized dust pan), so I have a little dustbuster handy that I then vacuum it up with.

I hate sweeping, I feel like I don't get anywhere. So I think I will get a nicer broom, and this!

I sweep everything into a corner and then vacuum that pile up. I feel like I can't get it all in the dustpan, so vacuuming the mess works best for me. Or, I will just vacuum the entire floor with my Dyson.

This may not be a good suggestion for you but crumbs are non-existent in this house due to an over-weight dog disgusted with her diet. The dog hair is a different matter. I try to vacuum frequently and dream of a Rumba. However, said dog is also neurotic and would be convinced the robot is the evil spawn of the vacuum cleaner trying to kill her.
