I just went to look for one thing on my Pinterest boards an hour ago, one thing led to another, and here I am just emerging. In my opinion Pinterest keeps getting better and better. I LOVE that we can now easily move pins from board to board.
Originally you could only have 3 secret boards, but I noticed some time in the past year or so that it now seems to be unlimited. I'm just curious what you all use those boards for? Mine are for things such as gift ideas for my family, a board for goals that I'm not necessarily ready to let anyone else know about, a shared board from when a few friends and I were planning a baby shower, etc.
So what do you use your secret boards for?

Let's see...
- Christmas gifts - gift ideas for family members - ideas for my IL's anniversary party - ideas for my daughter's birthday - ideas for another nursery (that I hope I will need this year but I don't anyone to know) - keeping track of rebates - pinning articles for personal development that I don't want anyone to know about - secret crafts that I might make someone and I don't want them to see

I made a wedding board for ideas for my daughter who at the time was just dating and I didn't want any of my friends to question it, so I made it private. Now she really is getting married. I have just kept it private so my friends won't get tired of all the wedding pins.

I don't use them so far, but I like the idea of a secret board for gifts planned for family & friends.

I use them for gifts, saving tips, blogging info (even tho I don't blog ha!), etc.
One of my friends is vehemently against secrets boards and feels the point of pinterest is to share ideas not to hide them. I swear you'd think I was stealing things off the internet the way she reacted to it. Ha!!

I have a few!
One of the first ones I had was with a group of gals I do annual weekends with. One of them used to be a member of a fairly conservative church, so she was commenting that she can't post anything with profanity or rude things so she doesn't offend them all. So we started this secret board "My F&&k Board" where we post all kinds of bitchy, rude memes/ecards that make us all laugh.
I am doing a Pinterest challenge with a group of people - we all have to pin an inspiration pin, and then DO the pin and post our results each week for a year. We all chipped in $25, and the ones who don't miss a week get to split the money> We started with 12 and we are down to 4 of us that haven't missed!
The other ones I have are things I didn't necessarily want others to see. I have one for cake shop ideas/tested recipes for when I was toying with a retail shop idea, DH and I are toying with the idea of someday buying a rental property down south, so things I find online I pin there.

I had one for when I was planning a gift that I was making and needed various cooking/kitchen related quotes. And another I share with a friend who I take photos for, so I can see what types of shots/poses she likes.
I agree Pinterest does seem to get better. I've been on it since when you had to get an invite to participate and I feel like it has added some valuable tools along the way.

One for party planning, one because a group of girls I know go on an annual girls trip and we don't want to hurt the feelings of anyone who isn't in the group. Gift ideas for my family and the "To-Do" board where I have the crazy idea that one day I'll actually have time to try some of the ideas I see on Pinterest.

I have one for resume ideas, I'm a graphic designer and I follow, and am followed by several people i work with. I don't want them to know I'm job hunting so I keep it under wraps. The other is called smut, largely because I'm embarrassed to have those images reposted as part of my feed. (atrb_partsz) Nothing truly smutty, but hey If I have one or two of shirtless Chris Evans on there who am I to inflict that on the larger populace.

I had one with Christmas gift ideas. I also had one for a couple of months to post ideas(lingerie, poses, etc) for the boudoir photo session I had last fall - the photos were a Christmas gift for my DH.

I have one for gift ideas which is actually secret!
I also have one for fitness motivation quotes and another for posts that I want to read later ( just didn't have the time or motivation when if stumbled upon them). These aren't really secret but I think having the lock symbol makes them easier to find . The fitness motivation needs to be easy to find as I only really look at it if I'm dragging myself around and don't want to go to the gym!

I have quite a few, I use them for stuff that I don't think my friends/followers want to frequently see or stuff that is personal to me.
I have multiple boards for gluten/dairy free desserts, breads, meals Weight loss Health stuff Related to my volunteer stuff Fashion that I want to fit into
I also use my secret boards to pin without it showing up in my friends news feeds. So say I love something but don't necessarily want all my friends to see it, I pin it to a secret board and then move it to the related board. That way it's still in one of my public boards where it belongs but didn't have to show up in everyone's feed.
I really should just make all my boards private but I don't mind strangers following me, just my friends. I feel like there is no place I can go without everyone following you.

My secret boards I'm hiding stuff.
One is for public speaking, writing, leadership type stuff. I've had a few opportunities and really enjoy it. But I feel silly for people to see if nothing else pans out, also I guess there's siome Pride involved too. It's a private dream. Not even sure dreaming is the right word.
The other is about grieving, suffering and the like. I was actually intending to speak on it and instead found myself in need of it for myself. This is private because #1 it was personal and #2 who wants to be minding their own business happily looking for recipes and crafts and party planning and come across the killjoy of grief come across their feed? Then If it's a friend their happy pinning turns into concern for their friend.

Can you give some examples of what types of challenges are involved? I'm loving all the ideas from everyone. Thanks all! Well, we all sent $25 via paypal to one person, who is being the "keeper of the fund". There are no rules really - other than it has to be a real pin to count (one person had "heard from a friend the tabasco chocolate was good" so she pinned a photo of the chocolate and then a piece of chocolate in her hand) Everybody does their own pins each week. We work Monday-Sunday, pins have to be posted by midnight on Sunday. A lot of mine have been food/cake related. Like I try a recipe from pinterest, pin that to the board as my inspiration, and then pin a photo of my version of the recipe. Others have done household decor stuff, some organizing stuff, one gal knits, another is a home daycare provider and she's made a few activities for her babies to do. We are coming up on the year in March - bring me the money baby! I'm still hanging in there! And a few that missed a week or two are still participating instead of dropping out. It has been great to see what everybody has been doing.
