Hello everyone, I used to post a weekly cross stitchers thread at 2 Peas, so I thought I would continue posting one here. Feel free to join at any time! I thought maybe we could all post a short introduction, since we might have some new people join us on this site.
My name is Tasha and I live in western NY, where summer has finally arrived. I work for a non-profit agency that provides services to people with developmental disabilities and veterans. I currently oversee 2 day programs, with a total of 60 adults. I have a 5 year old daughter named Brynn, who will be starting kindergarten in the fall.
I have been stitching since I was about 10 years old (I will be 40 later this year). My mom taught me, first with plastic canvas, and then with cross stitch. I work solely on counted cross stitch pieces. I really enjoy making pieces for gifts, especially for babies and weddings. The largest piece I've ever done is a full-size Monopoly board, which is framed and hangs in my house. Lately, my favorite designers are Lizzie Kate and The Frosted Pumpkin. Right now, I am working on a baby gift. I'm stitiching the baby's name, Lorenzo. I'm attaching a photo of a name that I recently finished, since I don't have one of my current project.
Looking forward to "meeting" everyone and seeing what everyone is working on!

Hi Tasha!
I'm so glad you are continuing the weekly thread, because even though I never once posted on the old board, reading them inspired me to pick up my stitching hobby again. Having two toddlers and two cats cut short my hobby about 14-15 years ago, as well as having my eyesight change when I was in my early 40's.
Happy to say I've been stitching for the past few months! My favorites are reproduction samplers. And I also had the chart for the Monopoly board but have never started it; bet it looks great!

Glad that this thread has resurfaced, but I have been scrapbooking and not cross stitching.

I'm glad to see this thread Tasha!
I'm Barb from Michigan. I started cross stitching in my twenties when a friend showed me how. I stopped for a number of years due to myriad reasons but I picked it back up again last year.
I am trying to get my anniversary piece done by the middle of July so have been working furiously on it. On my phone so I can't post a pic but maybe later.
Looking forward to seeing what others are working on!

Tasha, it is nice to "meet" you. I have been cross stitching since I was around 10 as well.
I love the letters in your photo. Would you share the designer or booklet you have with the alphabet pattern?

Tasha, I would love to see a picture of your Monopoly board! I lurked every week on the cross-stitch board on 2 Peas, but never posted. I have been cross-stitching on and off for about 30 years. Most of my projects are unfinished. I love buying the supplies and starting projects, then get bored. I am slowly but surely working on The Frosted Pumpkin's "Once Upon a Time" sampler, but I am now months behind. I look forward to this thread every week!

I never knew there was a cross-stitchers thread on 2peas, so super glad to find this!
My older sister taught me to cross-stitch when I was in 6th grade. I've been at it off and on since.

Hey! Nice to see this thread again!
Now that I don't have to re-log in every time I want to post, I'll be here more.
I've been stitching since I was 9 or 10, my grandma taught me. I love the Heaven and Earth patterns and more geeky/nerdy stuff. Currently, I'm working on a Beads and Button "Noel" kit, a dragon sniffing a flower, and Christmas ornaments. I just joined in a world-wide round robin - I picked Doctor Who and have to do a border and one section of the fabric. I'm nervous - I've never done one before and I don't know if I can handle someone looking at the back! lol

I had been wondering if you made it over Lisa! So glad that you did. I was thinking about your "beachy" piece recently and wondering how it was coming along.

I am working on the OUAT sampler too, and I'm also way behind! I only have the border and January and February finished. I was really excited to see this month's pattern. One of the teachers at my daughter's day care used to call her Thumbelina and sing the song to her. The sampler will be cute when it's finished, and I'm jealous of anyone who has been able to keep current with it!

Cool ! Would love to see a photo. I love to cross-stitch but haven't done it in a long time. I've been more into crochet and knitting the past few years but would like to get back to cross-stitch. Too many hobbies, not enough time.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the 2peas board, but have been a avid stitcher for many years! My current project is Barbara Ana's Snooty Parrot Sampler. I'm part of a FB group that is stitching it throughout the year in monthly "assignments". When my assignment for July is complete, I'll pick up LHN's February Calendar Girl.
If I knew how to post photos here I would do so! Time to figure that out!

I've been scrapping on-and-off for years, more off over the last few years, though. I have to wear progressive lenses now and I find looking at the small print unbearable at times. I know I have a magnifier somewhere, I just have to find it or break down and get a new one. I have a couple of unfinished projects, most of them being ornaments. I need to go find my supplies and get busy again or it will be yet another Christmas gone by without the ornaments.

Glad to see the weekly threads starting again!
I'm Sarah and I live in Pennsylvania. I used to cross stitch endlessly but when I discovered scrapbooking about a decade ago, I put my thread away. I recently dug out the cross stitching box and have been working on a large project (border collie) as a gift for my dad. I work on it in spurts as I have time; we're leaving for vacation on Thursday and I hope to get lots of time to stitch in the evenings.

Hi Everyone!
I have been stitching since I was 8 and will be 35 next month. My mom taught me on a Christmas ornament.
I'm in the home stretch of L&L's The Wedding. I started it 8 months before I got married thinking I could have it done in time. Well, we just celebrated our 10 yr anniversary last month. I have all of the major parts done, I just need to finishing up the wording and the outside border. Hope to have it done soon as I want to get it up on the wall.

Hi, I'm Laura and I live in Virginia. I've been stitching for over 20 years. I started with designs from the UK magazine Quick & Easy Cross Stitch. Too bad they no longer publish that one. I was even published in the letters section a few times with my kids holding the projects : ) I also scrapbook, and stamp, I make cards for Operation Write Home. My newest hobby is Paintstiks on t-shirts. I use stencils and rubbing plates and it is a lot of fun. My newest stitch project a Row of Love from Dimensons. I was inspired by a fellow stitcher on 2peas. The project was beautiful! I love the teddies but I am not a fan of kit fabric or floss. It is just not the same as DMC or Anchor. My last few completed stitch projects were Lanarte Wildflowers, Tatty Teddy, and Somebunny to Love. I still love the British cross stitch mags!!!

Hi everyone, I'm Brandi and live in Texas. I have 4 kids from the ages 4 to 10. I was taught cross stitching at an Eastern Star event when I was maybe 8 or so. My first real project was a wedding picture for my brother and his wife, it was the Precious Moment bride and groom in the car. I was and am still so proud of that piece. Currently, I'm working on Christmas stockings for each of my kids...they might get them when they are my age. They seem to be taking me a long time Would someone like to share how to post pictures on this site? I'd be happy to share my wip. Nice to see some new faces and old posters as well!

Hi- I am Melinda and I also live in Western NY where Tasha lives. I have been stitching for about 30 years.
I do a lot of hardanger pieces and counted canvas, but also just plain cross stitch too. I have everything kitted up to start the Beach sampler that someone posted a few months ago.
Probably the biggest piece I ever did is called Flower Power by Crossed Wing Collection. It has a bunch of butterflies and bugs that are stitched over one. It also has many hummingbirds that were supposed to be stitched over two, but after stitching one of them I did not like it. I recharted them to be over one and liked the results much better. It hangs on my wall behind my headboard. It is very heavy so DH made sure he hit 3 studs when he was hanging it so we would not die if it fell off the wall.
Happy stitching everyone!
Melinda

Hi Everyone, I bounce around between a bunch of different hobbies. I learned to do needle work starting with stamped cross stitch when I was 12. I picked up counted cross stitch when I was in my 20's. In my early 30's I started doing samplers on linen. I put it aside for quite a few years until someone on the old Pea board started talking about cross stitching. I currently have 2 big projects going. One is called "Christmas Garden" and the other is a Halloween one called "All Hallow's Eve". I haven't worked on them for a while. When it gets cooler I will get the itch again.

Hi, I'm Tracy. I've been stitching for almost 30 years too, since I was in grade school.
My favorites right now are Mirabilia and Little House Needleworks. I also love hand dyed fabric.
I'm working on a Mira lady now, and should be able to take a wip picture this weekend to share.

My name is Beverly. I started cross stitching almost 23 years ago and love it. I stopped when my kids were young and involved in so many activities. I now have grown kids with careers (a nurse and a firefighter) so my plan is to stitch in my spare time. I am glad to see you post here. I really enjoyed seeing everyone's projects. It got me excited to pull out my cross stitch supplies again.

Hi Everyone! I started stitching one summer while at my grandparents' house. I was driving my grandma crazy with my boredom. I was probably about 12-13. She took me to a Ben Franklin Crafts store, we picked up a couple small ornament kits and learned from there. I've put down and picked up the hobby over the years. I was working on that large deer piece last time I shared. I put it down after my family went through a bout of being really sick and haven't picked it up again. I did start the Lizzie Kate Tingles sampler this week, though. I've got the first square done.

The largest piece I've ever done is a full-size Monopoly board, which is framed and hangs in my house. I just found that pattern in my stash a couple of weeks ago. I knew I had bought it, but I couldn't find it for the longest time. I'm currently working on a model for a pattern I made from an antique sampler I bought. I'm about halfway done with the centerpiece house and I'm regretting my fabric choice. I can't decide if I want to start over on something else or keep plugging along. I'm 41 and my mom taught me to stitch when I was six, so that's 35 years (yikes!)

Hi Everyone,
Tasha, your story is similar to mine. I too will be 40 later this year. I have been cross stitching since I was about 10 also. My Mum taught me to stitch and still stitches to this day! My Mum is a 'jump in the deep end" kind of person, many of my pieces have been difficult, but as she taught me, stitch, by stitch, step, by step, you can do it. I have 3 kids (6 through 12) and we homeschool, so my stitching time is limited. I often stitch in the evening as I wind down from the day.
I live in Atlanta, GA, but come from Sydney Australia. You can take this girl out of Australia, but you can't take the Australia out of me! LOL
I just completed my "a Row of Love" teddy bear cross stitch! So excited! I just need to block it out, and have it framed. It will hang in my guest room. I started this piece about 8 years ago, and put it away, due to small children, and no time. Last Christmas you all inspired me to drag it out and resume work. Thanks for the inspiration!! Not sure what me next project will be just yet.

Gosh I use to cross stictch all the time until I had my 3rd child. She loved to grab my needle at age 3 and run all over the house with it. Is scared me so bad I quit cross stitching for what I though was going to be a season. Sadly I never picked it up. I have cross stich decor all over my house. I used to love it so much! I still have all my supplies and patterns. I guess I need to revisit what was my favorite hobby.

Hi, everyone!
I was mostly a lurker at 2Peas and decided to venture on over here. I would love to get into cross stitch and would love to hear about the resources that were most helpful to you all when you were novices. Do you have any books you'd recommend? Supplies?
Cross stitch is a gorgeous art. I can't wait to dive into it!
