LinkThoughts? I'm worried she's going to get too busy & stop designing scrapping product! I've told several IRL friends and they've all said the same thing. She's really knocked it out of the park lately with her new releases. I know these MLM companies are a lot of work when you get "big" and I imagine with her putting a team in place and coming up with a custom website, etc., she's probably banking on her following for this to be a big $ maker for her, otherwise she wouldn't have bothered. It's interesting.

Wow, I thought that was a joke, lol.
It looks like she ingests the lemon oil. Uh oh.

My cousin just started using these oils. I think it's a company like Watkins. Is it just me? Or is she making it out like she is the one that developed these oils? I guess it is the mark of a good businesswoman to capitalize on your fame to make money selling a product. I think she's just branching out into other things as a side business.

A scrapping friend and I were just talking about how it's all Young Living, Youngnique (sp?), DoTerra, Jamberry, DoTerra, Young Living on Facebook and then when she sent me this link today I thought she was pulling my leg.

It's the big fad. I am impressed with the costs of these oils. I imagine there is a great deal of money to be made... at first. Also amazed at how much money people spend on this and wonder if some of these people are the same ones who complain about the co-pay at the doctor's office. Oops. Did I just say that? I am getting tired of certain folks hawking their oils and acting like they are medical practitioners when they are salespeople. And people fear big pharmaceutical companies? MLM companies scare me too! There is an element of truth to what some of the oils do. It's aromatherapy and some of this is proven. Some of these claims, however, are well.. I won't say. Her announcement style kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Seemed kinda ...I don't know...I don't like to be cross-marketed too without a heads up...

I'm curious if the other bigger named scrapbookers will be doing this as well.

So she's a rep for Young Living and her "mentors" are below her in the pyramid.

My guess would be yes. I have heard that doTerra is as well, but I don't know that for sure.

I think a lot of these scrapbook celebs are branching out into other things as the industry slows down or shrinks. I can't think of her name at the moment but one of the celebs is easing back from her scrapbook products and focusing more on selling antique and vintage stuff. as popular as tim holtz is, he is expanding his products to include a fabric line. I think we will see more and more of this as the industry doesn't provide the revenue stream that the celebs were getting before.

I predict a shift of many of the Scrapping Celebrities over to the Essential Oils industry.
Heidi may be releasing what diehard scrapers find exciting, but paper scrapbooking is nowhere near the money making industry it used to be. Creative Memories parties jumped the shark years ago. All of my LSS have closed too. I don't think that Heidi's pay checks are anywhere close to what she received 8 years ago.
Essential Oils will be a money-maker for those willing to do the MLM thing and home parties for several years, and then I predict a new MLM industry based in Utah will become popular.

I guess it just seems like an odd departure for her. The others you mentioned (Jenni Bowlin is who you mean, I think) seem like natural transitions. If Heidi had gone into the home decor realm or something like that, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. But a MLM company? That just seems... strange.

Sure, but it's totally unrelated to her current brand and image. That's strange to me. I should have been a bit more clear there. Maybe if she started her own MLM home decor company? Or started designing and selling for one? Ok, I would get it.

Or started designing and selling for one? Ok, I would get it. Shrug. Okay, I guess. It doesn't seem strange to me. Home decor is much more hit or miss and much more expensive. Oils, much easier for her to blog about, form her own culture for, easier to get hundreds and thousands of women to buy into. They get hooked by spending $50-100, at a party and then come back for more. And there is an oil for every type of person or problem out there (according to them). There is something for everybody. It is much harder to get people to spend hundreds of dollars on decor that they may not love. If I knew that the essential oils MLM companies were based in Utah before, I would have predicted this shift. It is more predictable than strange to me. If Becky Higgins hasn't banked enough money yet, it wouldn't surprise me to see her jump on the bandwagon too.

It wouldn't surprise me as Heidi Designs for Becky with her Project Life project, right?

Maybe. I guess I see the MLM oil thing as reaching a peak soon and there are already so many people on the wagon. A comment in her FB page announcement today said "not you, too." Ha. Is it already saturated when fans feel that way? She's going to really need to work it as something different/special than what's already out there. We'll see.

And Lisa Bearnson for that matter, too. They are all BFFs right? She is hocking things for HSN? now but they still talk. That I am sure of.

Maybe Heidi will come up with her own signature formula for the company? If she is a high enough disturber she might have that kind of clout.

I'm guessing that it was a scrapbook fan like you, not her new market. I just checked out her Facebook page linked to the link you provided and I'm willing to bet a year's supply of Bazzil (do they even make it any more?) that she is planning to launch her own "oil infused bath line."

...amazed at how much money people spend on this and wonder if some of these people are the same ones who complain about the co-pay at the doctor's office. Oops. Did I just say that?... Someone needs to say it! I was shopping with a friend an astounded at what she bought / paid based on opinion of the Whole Foods clerk. Yet she complains about co-pay at specialist.

Looks like the companies are owned by LDS members linkThere's some interesting info there on the credentials of Young Living's founder. The link in that article on Gary Young's credentials is no longer a working page on the Young Living site, but I found this one on Gary Young's site that still claims the doctorate in naturopathy from Bernadean along with claims of a master's in nutrition (no school listed) along with this gem: 1982–1988: In Mexico, Gary Young studied biochemistry, hematology, anatomy, and chemistry, among other subjects under the guidance of four medical doctors.
