I just noticed this tonight. Amazon has apparently paid adblock to whitelist ads on their site. Honestly, I never even knew there were ads on amazon. The whole site is a big ad-why are they putting extra ads on pages? So far firefox has frozen up on me twice while browsing there. From googling I read that Google and Microsoft have the same deal. I have not noticed any on Google yet but I'm sure I will soon.

I just went to Amazon to see about this and it all looks the same to me. Can you do a screenshot to show how it looks different with the ads? And what browser are you using?

I don't see any ads on Amazon, either.

It seems you can stop AdBlock from supplying you with the ads gale w :- Here’s how users who have installed AdBlock Plus can turn off the whitelist feature and block all ads: Blocking all ads On Firefox: Click the AdBlock Plus icon and choose Filter Preferences from the menu. Uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising” and you are done. On Chrome: Right-click the AdBlock Plus icon in the address bar on the right, then choose Options and uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising.” On Opera: Click the Opera menu button in the left corner at the top (on OS X: click Window at the top), choose Extensions, find AdBlock Plus there, click on Options and uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising.” On Internet Explorer: Click the AdBlock Plus icon in the status bar on the right, then choose Options and uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising.” On Safari: Click the AdBlock Plus icon in the address bar on the left, choose Options, and uncheck “Allow non-intrusive advertising” On Android: Click the AdBlock Plus icon in the notification bar at the top, then uncheck “Acceptable Ads / Allow some non-intrusive advertising.”

thanks for the tip-I'll try it. On each amazon page I seem to have 1-3 ads. If there are 3, there's one on the right, one on the left and one down at the bottom. Each one has an "ad feedback" button so I've been leaving feedback but I'm not dumb enough to think that will make any difference.

Here's a screen shot. There are 2 ads on this page (home page) but I can't see both on the screen at the same time. Attachments:

The fix didn't work. I did it, restarted firefox, and still see 2 ads on the amazon homepage. I think that the ones that have paid are completely whitelisted no matter what setting you use.
eta: I think it did work, actually. There was one ad I was able to right-click (it wasn't a flash ad) and it had a "re-enable on amazon" option. I didn't disable it but somehow it had become disabled (it was definitely enabled last night when I tried it-that was the first thing I checked).
