That is horrifying. Who would ever think that was a good idea?

I wanted to type something more but that's the only thing that came to my mind.

I read about this last night and simply couldn't wrap my mind around the idea that the parents, grandmother and aunt would deliberately terrify a child like that.

Wow. What the fuck? I can't think of a strong enough word to call these losers who thought this was a good idea. Honestly, they should be "lost" in the system never to see the light of day.
They wanted to teach him a lesson for trusting strangers. The lesson they taught him is that you can't trust the people who are supposed to love you and care for you.

Hopefully now the authorities can stage some prison time to teach those adults a lesson.

I could see maybe having someone "take" a kid for a minute or two (when you are right there) but four hours? Tying him up in a basement? Taking off his pants and saying he could be sold into sex slavery? That was way more than what was needed, that poor boy. Even the dysfunctional Bluths knew to make any traumatic lessons fast and timely.

I was discussing this with my DD this morning when I saw it on the news. Horrifying. I understand the intent (DD was like, oh? did they arrange that with the police?) but oh my god the extent was just oh so very wrong. (clearly they did not.) We have a small town and when DD goes awry or I think she's being snotty I am always telling her I am going to have my friend (the police chief) lock her in the basement jail in town to teach her a lesson. It's said in jest but I have told her I have no problem hauling her butt down to the PD to let them teach her a lesson. It's something I would discuss ahead of time and have one of the PD officers (we call him the mean one because there's lots of them that are nice but one that is very mean which clearly is a good thing) sit down and put the fear of god into her to scare her straight. I mean, but I know the officers and they run a DARE program so she knows most of them as well, small town, and we both work for the rec dept so we see them on a regular basis - but it would be either a sit down moment or a "let's talk about what we would do to you if you did this, jail time, etc." type of stuff scare. Nothing like these parents. That child is going to need a Texas sized huge room full of therapists to help deal with this craptastic incident. DD after hearing the news was like ? and was saying gee mom you are always talking about scaring me so that I don't do bad things but it's always something you say would arrange with the police and have THEM do the scaring. What were these people thinking? I still have mouth open metaphorically, like huge WTF moment of awe.

They took that way to far. Why not just have a friend your child wasn't familiar with approach them so you know how they would react to being approaced by a stranger. That would be enough. The rest was uncalled for. That poor little guy.

I just cannot comprehend this.
No 6 yr old needs to have a gun pointed at him. No 6 yr old needs to know what sex slavery is, much less be threatened by it. No 6 yr old should have his pants taken off by his aunt's coworker.
6 yr olds don't need to be scared or traumatized.
Yes, we should all talk to our children about safety.
But this? This is ridiculous and I am so glad those adults were arrested.

Welcome to the crazy train. Wow, who thought that was a good idea. Well I guess they won't have to worry about him being to nice to strangers, he will probably have trust issues the rest of his life.

As a child, I experienced terror at the hands of a stranger. Reading this news story brought tears to my eyes, thinking about how this little boy felt as events unfolded. To be told "just kidding" at the end of it doesn't change a thing. The adults who did this are twisted and sadistic. I hope they all go to jail. He will always carry the trauma of what happened.

Talk about stupid. It's scary and sad that that many adults would think it was a good idea and go along with it.
I'm glad that the boy talked to people at school about it and that people at school took him seriously.

these people are mentally unstable and I hope that little boy is taken away and placed in a loving home. They should never be allowed to have him back. Another thought came to mind too. I really hope that whoever questioned this little boy as to exactly what went on in those four hours did so thoroughly and hopefully didn't accept the " to teach him a lesson not to be friendly to strangers" on face value. Most cases of child sexual abuse are carried out by family/friends known to the victim!

Holy fuck!
Who would ever, ever, EVER think that was acceptable?!!
I hope that poor little boy is placed in a better home than he has. What kind of mother would ever do that to her little one.
I hope all adults involved are sent to prison. That has to be considered abuse.

He could suffer from ptsd, require therapy, for years. This was so very wrong. I hope the participants are fully prosecuted.

I am horrified. I hope that little boy is helped in whatever way he can be.
I agree they should lose custody of him. How could they be trusted with his care again? What stood out for me was that they didn't think they had done anything wrong?!

I can't imagine strangers ever doing something as horrific as his own family has done to him. How can you ever recover from something like that? (Before I get flamed for saying that, yes, I know strangers can kidnap children, I am just so upset that the mom/dad (?) that are supposed to care for him could do this to him, as well as other relatives that you would think would try to stop them.)
Why didn't they just take him to the police station and ask an officer to talk to him about their concerns? Our school had a safety assembly one year and a police officer, fireman/woman and a paramedic gave the kids some simple lessons in safety. Because it was from the "experts", the message, age appropriate, really hit home for the children. My kids taught me things I didn't even know about fire safety.
