DGS is being baptized tomorrow. I've been so looking forward to this! But... I came down with a terrible cold (nonstop coughing, fever, aches, the works). Looks like I'll be staying home.

Stick cotton balls in your ears, get a vaporizer or one of those vaporub machines, or put vixks on, take some severe cold medicine, drink a little sunny-d or orange juice and go to bed.
Take meds as soon as you get up in the morning and repeat as often as allowed.
And hope you feel better for that little time.

A fever and aches make it more likely flu than cold. I am sorry you will miss this milestone but please stay home for everyone else's sake.

That sounds more like the flu to me, too. I agree with Voltagain: better to stay home than to risk passing it to your DGS and everyone else. There will be photos, I'm sure, and many other milestones in his future. Sorry you'll miss it, though.

Especially the baby being baptized, who doesn't have a fully working immune system yet? OP, ask a relative to videotape it, and stay home and get well. It's a bummer you have to miss it, but attending would put a lot of people at risk of getting what you've got.

Oh, I'd be crying, for sure. I'm so sorry! I appreciate that you realize you will have to stay home. If only everyone were so considerate.
Feel better soon!

I assumed her grandson is older than a baby. I'd probably go and sit in the very back and leave when it's over, as long as I was fever free. If I did have a fever, I wouldn't go.

I'll own that I'm a terrible & selfish person - I would do this. Everyone carries germs, even if they are not showing symptoms. Unless she's coughing, sneezing, spewing, and spitting all over people purposefully, she's not much more likely to spread her germs any more than other people are. I'd cough into a hankie, not hug or kiss anyone, and leave when it was over. But you bet like heck that I'd be there, with my camera (if allowed), and wouldn't be missing a once in a lifetime thing like that.

I would probably stay home if i felt that ba but I do agree with the few who said you could attend and keep your distance if it was that important to you. I wouldn't ride in the same car as anyone or go to the party after.
