That explains it! Dd and I got caught in something else. It was midnight when I realized that SNL was on. I was expecting the 40th anniversary special and was confused. Only watched a little before I feel asleep. There was a sketch with Muppet like characters on that I did not recognize at all. I was not watching SNL in 1975! It was probably a few more years until I ever saw it. Glad to know it is really on tonight! LOL. I pay little attention to live tv these days, but I do want to see this!

I figured. They reminded me a bit of Fraggle Rock and one of the other muppets whose name I cannot recall at the moment. At first, I thought dd turned the wrong station on. LOL! I was in elementary school at the time. I was never allowed to stay up late enough to see it.

I remember when it first came out. I was in third grade and it had our PTO in such a hullaballoo! My mom, who never really got into parent stuff, wrote a letter in the school newsletter admonishing the show. So you can guess who snuck watching it and still watches it to this very day. I love the older shows. The show with Patrick Swazey (?) doing dirty square dancing made me pee a little. The bees buzzing off made no sense to me then. Now I can appreciate it. It is scheduled on my DVR

I'll be watching My cousin won the Washington, DC SNL sweepstakes earlier this week. She won't be at tonights show, but she and her dh won tickets to a live show/taping in April, transportation, and hotel She said they might show their picture and name on tonights show, so I'll be looking for that, as well as watching the show for its awesomeness

I'm so glad I opened this, didn't know about the Red Carpet. Had the DVR set to record the actual show, not the red carpet.
Many thanks Gypsygirl, would have missed that.
I can't wait for the show. My formative years involved staying up to watch SNL. So many memories!!
ETA- I read an interview with Lorne Michaels the other day. He listed some people SNL passed on, the only one that shocked me was Jim Carrey. That man was born for sketch comedy. He was incredible on In Living Color, SNL must have been sad they passed him up.

Kind of cool that they are interviewing some of the people on the red carpet.
So is this a show that is just going to show skits from the last 40 or are we getting a couple of new things tonight?
