If you used direct deposit for your refund, how long did it take between electronically filing and receiving your bank deposit? TIA! ETA: Just received our State refund (2/25) ~ that's a first that CA was faster than FED.

It was eight business days. Our accountant said the earlier we filed, the quicker we'd get it.

If you are getting a refund the govt is using your money interest free until they mail it back. I personally like to owe money at the end of the year. Save it yourself and collect the interest.

We usually owe. Being self-employed you never know how the year is going to go when you send in your estimated tax payments ~ this was the first year in the last 10 that we overpaid.

Used Turbo Tax. Federal was in our acct within a few days - less than a week. State took a week.

Haven't finished mine yet because investment forms were just released a couple days ago. I hate having to wait until March to do mine.

Ordinarily I would totally agree with you. This is the first year in many that we are getting a significant refund. Last year we incurred some serious medical expenses that altered our return in a way that we didn't anticipate. Thank goodness for tax professionals.

I hope to have the final document I need to file sometime today or tomorrow at the latest. We will get a refund and I am fine with getting refund instead of owing for a couple of reasons. For one, I don't want to get hit with a penalty for underpayment. This may or may not happen. It depends on a number of factors but if we are due a refund, I don't have to worry about this. I have investments that I have to pay taxes on when money is disbursed, even if it is automatically reinvested back into the mutual fund. I never know what to expect with this. It can vary greatly from year to year. I have taxes taken from my pay check to account for this.

My taxes were filed on February 3rd and I received my refund via direct deposit on February 12th.
SO filed his on January 28th and his status still shows as "processing". Normally it wouldn't matter so much but we are getting married in a little less than four weeks and were planning to put his refund towards some wedding and moving-related expenses.
