I am cleaning out a corner cabinet in my kitchen that has become a big mess. I want to get my bread maker but I can't pull anything out without causing an avalanche. Why do I have all this stuff? Example:
Number of muffin tins in this cabinet: 3. In different sizes. Number of times I have made muffins in twenty years of marriage: 0
I am really trying to purge but it's so hard to get rid of perfectly good things. What are your little or never used kitchen things that you keep holding on to?

I'm sure I have some stuff that I rarely use, but I can't get over shock that you have never made muffins!

I have a plastic bag of odds and ends from my grandpa's house (tea strainer, nutcracker, silver spoon, garlic press, glass swizzle sticks, etc you get the picture) that I can't part with due to sentimental reasons. I do very rarely use some of the items.
I got rid of my glass bread pans only to find my son now enjoys baking bread after taking a cooking class in school. Had to get more. Dammit! That's the last time I get rid of any kitchen items!
Why do I have a bundt cake pan? It's been used once in 15 years.

I've had a cookie press for about 20 years. I really intend to use it some day.

Nice serving platters. If I'm taking food elsewhere, I use a disposable. If cooking at home, I serve the plates from the stove, then take plates to the table. I think they were wedding gifts.

We're getting ready for a garage sale in the next couple weeks, and I'm being rather ruthless with our belongings. I'm asking myself this question: would I rather pack & move this or sell this? Not that I plan on moving, but just the *thought* of packing up everything and having to move it makes me want to get rid of half of everything we own.
I'm finding things we've held onto for years, but haven't used in the 6 years we've been in our current home. SIX YEARS. Why on earth would I feel compelled to take it with me if we were moving? Answer, I wouldn't. If I wouldn't want it to move into a new home, why am I keeping it in this one??
Cranky, I vote you should pass those muffins tins along to someone who makes muffins, or at least cupcakes!
ETA: Oh, I'm getting rid of my rice cooker, lazy susan, coffee bean grinder, extra coffee pot, and george forman grill, to name a few things.

I bought a springform pan for a recipe I saw years ago, and have never used it. The darn thing falls out every time I reach for the colander, which it is stacked with. Will I ever make a homemade cheesecake? Doubtful. Will I ever remember what recipe I bought the pan for? Probably not. Am I ever going to get rid of that pan? Heck no. I might need it someday.

I have a large George Forman grill (we regularly use the smaller one) and a large food processor taking up much needed space. Both are used very rarely!

We're military and I've purged most of what I don't use. But it's been years since I used my bread maker! I'm always amazed at people who have rice cookers, egg makers, cake pop makers, etc. where does everyone store all this stuff? I have a HUGE kitchen and I don't have room for all of that!
I do make sure my bakeware nests. I have 4 regular sized muffin tins, but they all nest into each other. Same thing with my baking sheets, loaf pans, etc. I'd get rid of those cupcake tins. They sell muffin papers that you can just put on a baking sheet. They don't need a tin.

I have FOUR of those little spatulas from Pampered Chef. I think I was supposed gift them away! I think I forgot. I do use one but I don't think I need four! I have a bunch of those blades from hand mixers, the hold hand mixer doesn't work great any more and we use the KA instead but I haven't parted with the old mixer yet.

I have a brand new EXPENSIVE mandolin in the box that DH had to have years ago. I am scared to death of it and nearly faint when I see someone on food network using them. *shudder* He has used it NEVER. I also have a brand new Cuisinart huge food processor that I had to have about 6 years ago so DH bought it for me. I have used it a total of ZERO times. My Cuisinart immersion blender that I just had to have and have used once in about 6 years. Then, let me see..... the Lodge cast iron dutch oven sits taking up room in my cupboard. 10+ years since I've touched it. Lodge grill pan I don't use because I don't like cleaning it. Fondue pot and dessert fondue pot I haven't touched in at least 16 years. But.... maybe someday I will. A big deep fryer DH bought several years ago still in the box unopened. The whirly pop popcorn thing used once, but we prefer a pan. Bowls, bowls and more bowls of all sizes and shapes. Pinch bowls, sauce bowls, fruit bowls, snack bowls, plastic bowls, square bowls. Old pyrex dishes and Visions baking dishes (remember the cranberry pyrex type?) Various different knife sharpeners. Shot glasses of all sorts, shapes and sizes. Various assorted kitchen trivets that I never haul out. A ravioli mold and little rolling pin. Really? Old Pfaltzgraff dishes - 16 place settings plus way to many serving pieces, many duplicates. Only one chipped dish in the bunch. I may NEED them some day! A very large collection of crystal serving pieces, including a ton of Princess House crystal, as well as good lead crystal. A brand new kitchen scale that has been collecting dust for about 5 years. DH did give the bread maker away last year. I have over 10 cutting boards, 6 colanders, about 15 rubber spatulas, 3 veggie peelers, 5 sets of dry measuring cups and 8 dry, who knows how many measuring spoons sets. Many of each glass mixing bowls, plastic mixing bowls, glass bakeware, metal bakeware, ceramic bakeware. 9 sheet pans, 5 silpats. At least 10 different sized baking/cooling racks. I use them, but don't really need so darn many. My name is Suziee and I am a kitchenware-aholic.

My kitchenaid mixer, the waffle maker, and the cast iron skillet. We use them once a year and probably wouldn't even miss them if we didn't have them, but I feel they are needed so they stay.
I had an immersion mixer and we used it once. Got rid of it in a garage sale and haven't missed it at all.

Isn't it a shame the Peas isn't an actual - versus a virtual - community? We could all haul our unwanted stuff outside one day and have ourselves the mother of all swaps! (I call dibs on Suizee2's stuff!) I want that mandolin!

I kept it all till this last move to a house with a small kitchen. I loaded everything up and took it to my DD's to be distributed among her 4 kids. George Foreman, Wolfgang Puck pressure cooker, large electric skillet and lots of other things we haven't used.

I've had a cookie press for about 20 years. I really intend to use it some day. Ditto. Although I don't really intend to use it. But I keep it for the same reason that I keep my cookie cutters and Martha Stewart cake and cookie decorating sets - delusions of grandeur.

Suziee use that mandolin, it can't hurt you as long as you use the guard. That thing is great for getting nice, even slices. I'd love to get rid of my 35 yr old one and upgrade to a new fancy one but as long as it continues to do the job I can't justify the cost.
I'm a kitchen gadget collector. I can't bear to part with anything because I know as soon as I do I'm going to need it. I did part with my extensive collection of Wilton character pans when I moved and I've been kicking myself ever since. I've seen some of those old ones on Ebay for $50 or more.

Seriously? You've never made muffins or cupcakes in 20 years? Amazing! Is this unusual? I have been cooking for over 50 years and I have never made a pie, cake, muffin/cupcake, cookie or even a turkey. Maybe I am just allergic to the oven Never thought about it.

(I call dibs on Suizee2's stuff!) I want that mandolin! Oh that would be wonderful, not just for kitchen stuff, but crafting/scrapping crap and everything else! I have a raclette maker (you heat the stone and melt your cheese). Had to have it, I have opened the box and taken everything out to look at it. It has been in that box sealed since 1999/2000? Been through three moves too.

I don't feel quite so bad now, reading this!
The George Foreman, soup maker and the food processor are out on the counter otherwise I KNOW they would never be used. The GF only gets used when we have guests, the soup maker probably once every couple of months now the novelty has worn off and the food processor used to be used every day when I was going through my cooking phase but has slowed down to about monthly.
Stuff I have which has never seen the light of day since being brought home:
grapefruit segmenting contraption flower shaped cake tin big square cake tin with pieces that interlock inside it to make various smaller sized square and rectangular tins more spatulas and large plastic spoons than it is possible for one person to use during the course of any cooking session folding thingy that you line with pastry then add a filling and fold in half to make little pastry parcels
I think I got rid of my mini donut pan last time I had a purge but it could still be sitting in the back of a cupboard.

A painted saucepot from my grandma's kitchen. I love the pot but I'm irrationally afraid of the paint used to put sunflowers on it. Who knows what year it was made. It stays tucked away!

I have two mini donut pans. I used them recently to make brownies. I use pretty much everything I have-but I do have a weird hoarding thing when it comes to baking crap. I just bought a tart pan. Why you may ask? I don't know, I just thought I should have it.
