Any peas have any words of advice for my DD? She had this put in today and she is having a lot of trouble talking, eating, and swallowing pills.
The pics I've seen online show it really close to the roof of the mouth but hers is much lower. Slightly visible with her mouth open.
Should I give her time to get used to it or call back to orthodontist to see if it needs to be fit better?

My son wore a palette expander which is different, but similar in that it went across the roof of the mouth. It took him about a week to get his speech and eating back to normal. Since taking pills wasn't part of his daily routine I don't recall how long that took to relearn. I'd give her at least a few days to adjust. Since the purpose of the bluegrass appliance is a substitute oral activity instead of thumb sucking I'd assume the dentist has it properly set where she can roll it with her tongue without too much mouth movement and too much pressure against her upper mouth area. I wouldn't compare it too precisely with another child's mouth placement.
