""My Great Aunt made these AMAZING cream cheese cookies. Everyone in my family loves them. About 10 years ago she gave some of us the recipe. I have made them a couple of times....but they never came out right. It drove me crazy! I could not figure it out.
My Aunt passed away about 1 1/2 years ago at the ripe old age of 93!! My cousin was going through the box of cookbooks she left behind. She found the cookie recipe and it is NOT the same recipe she gave us. The recipe was titled "Secret Cream Cheese Cookies" on the back of the recipe card along with the "secret" frosting recipe it said " DO NOT GIVE OUT UNTIL I AM DEAD"
The woman was a RIOT!!! LOL!" : [HASH]2peasclassic

I must have done something wrong, because mine did not turn out too well. Think I will give them another go.

I wanted to add the story behind these cookies, if you don't mind. It is one of the threads I had saved because I thought it was so funny and I think the story behind it makes the cookies even better. I am quoting below what BelleMagic wrote:

I was just going to ask if anyone had saved this recipe from the old board. I didn't remember it having his name. Everyone I've served these to has loved them.

I make them at Christmas too. Although for Christmas I use peppermint extract and water in the glaze, instead of lemon. I tint the glaze pink and sprinkle them with crushed candy canes.

These cookies are soooo good! I made cmpeter's version using peppermint for a cookie exchange a couple weeks ago & everyone loved them. I'm making the original version today. I'm sure they'll be just as tasty. You guys have to try them!

I have made these cookies a few times and everyone loves them. All of my recipes are packed for my move and I was just invited to a neighborhood event. They requested these cookies. I am so happy to find it saved here! Trust the peas to make sure we saved the important things from the old board!

I made these for the first time this Christmas. While they tasted good, they were like lumps. I expected them to flatten out a bit. What say the peas?
