So Apple will no longer do business with Indiana but does business with countries who kill gays. Alrighty then. Guess there is a real war on Christians in this country. And before anyone gets their panties in a knot, I don't agree with what Indiana is doing.

Me too (lost me at "war on Christians"), I posted something, then deleted because I know it would fall on deaf ears.

Good for Apple!
Maybe they feel more invested in trying to make a change in their own country, rather than trying to change the rest of the world first.

I suspect that this will be a popular stance for a while for publicity. However, they have the right to do business with who they wish. As do I.

Do you have a link to the story? I've googled but can only find that he has spoken out about what's going on not that he has refused to do business with Indiana. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

I don't really understand your post OP but I think that Tim Cook is right to speak out against discrimination. Good for him!

Maybe this will cause my husband to finally switch to the Android. I'm sure Apple will happily sell their products in Indiana though.

Irony is seeing Hobby Lobby throw a tantrum and a law suit about having to provide contraception coverage within their employee health insurance coverage yet does most of their business with China who is the worst offender of forced birth control in the world.

I would have to say that the influx of technology Apple has helped provide for the world has led to greater civil rights for everyone. The Arab spring and other democratic uprisings were started through technology. Is the world perfect – God no! Atrocities still happen every day. But technology has helped bring more of these atrocities to light and shown people that might not have otherwise known that there is a whole world where civil rights are a fact of life.

Oh for fuck's sake... THERE IS NO WAR ON CHRISTIANS. Why not go to a country with REAL persecution of Christians and see how far you get with your claim that North American Christians are prosecuted and there's a war against them. You won't get far but maybe you'll learn what REAL Christian persecution is.

I dream of the day that the US overcomes its prejudice and elects its first Christian president!

Sorry, kirspend - it's hard to read tone on the internet when you don't really know a poster.
FTR, I'm an atheist Canadian who volunteered with various organisations 10 years ago that lobbied heavily for same sex marriage in my country.

and gays could go to a country where they would have more to worry about than what bakery will make them a wedding cake.

oh honey ... they're already living in that country. Matthew Shepard ring a bell? When was the last time we heard about a Christian being tortured and murdered for being Christian in this country?

For the record, my opinion is that any Federal or State law that allows discrimination under the veil of religious freedom should be deemed unconstitutional.
That being said, I do see the hypocrisy of Apple taking a stand against Indiana while it manufactures its products in China at Foxconn where working conditions were so bad that workers were committing suicide and rioting. I think it is a good thing for CEO's to embrace a culture of corporate social responsibility but it appears like politicians they do so when it is expedient.
