Also, Patter... what are the strings?? do you sew as well? Thank you for your sweet words. And yes, I sew. The strings are on other pages where I have sewn something and added in. I LOVE having the thread hang out! Here is one page with sewing.

I have had this book for a couple of years. In my experience, the markers do bleed, so make sure you put some kind of barrier behind your pages. The watercolors make the paper "buckle" but I guess if you are soaking up the overflow it would work.
It is so much fun to work in these books. I have a bunch of them. I know Michaels sells some similar.
I print them out on my printer onto cardstock and have no trouble with smearing. I guess its not a jet printer.

Maybe it's just me. ..but I don't get spending $10 on a coloring book when u can print adult coloring pages for free from pinterest, etc. .. i just searched a bunch on pinterest and didn't find any that were free. Most of the pages i liked were at dover publications and you have to pay for those. If you have any links to good free pages please can you share?

spitfiregirl, search pinterest for ironpowerbooks. They give away free sheets for personal use. They are mostly mandalas if you don't mind those. Also search adult coloring pages. See what you find there. I am on my iPad so it's harder for me to link. Once on my laptop, I will see if I can link you directly to others. Hope this helps.

Patter, your bible is absolutely stunning. Thank you so much. I LOVE putting principles and sermon notes in my Bible this way. I am thinking of doing one each for my girls as I have special scriptures for them. Haven't committed to that idea yet though.

I'd use my beautiful Derwent pencils, either the standard or the water colour.

caro, that particular Bible is out of print. It is called the HCSB notetaker's Bible. It's retail price is $29.99. You can find it online but the price runs over into the $100's of dollars. I have seen it lowest at about $54. I had an NIV Notetaker's Bible but I didn't like it at all. The layout was not what I wanted. I highly recommend you go to a Bible store and look at notetaker's Bibles, wide-margin Bibles, etc., and see what you like best. Some have great margins but tiny, tiny fonts. Some have great fonts but horrible layouts. I think I purchased and returned 3 before I found what I love. A lot of people love the ESV Journaling Bible; however, that font was ridiculously small for me. Another one you need to look at in person IMO. Hope you find what you love, and let me know if you have more questions.

pencilsI bought the pencils and the pens the author recommended. I ve been doing some youtube videos on colored pencil blending and shading techniques. I could kick myself for giving my son my full set of prism pencils and full 120 marker set that I use to use for scrapbooking. He put them to good use I guess, but now i have to rebuy! I still have mine!

anyone have any good links to shading tutorials? Have you heard of magic colored pencil technique?Such an interesting discussion! I haven't heard of that technique. I love colored pencil so I'll probably go with that. I use it in my bible as well as for drawing. I usually use prismacolor but have to agree that the inexpensive crayons pencils, which I carry when I travel, are creamy and nice. I use a light colored pencil when I'm done to go over everything with a slightly heavier hand. That top layer of wax sets everything underneath, blends it nicely, and makes the colors a little more vibrant.

I guess I was a bit ahead of the fad. I bought a similar type of colouring book back in 2008. I used mainly markers. I wish I had the collection of markers back then that I do now for my art journalling. Copics and Sakuras would work beautifully for the colouring books.

For those of you using colored pencils what type of sharpener do you use? I can't seem to find one that sharpens evenly and/or not break off the tip. I'm beyond frustrated and ready to toss all my pencils, colored and my beloved Ticonderogas!

But I also make sure I don't over sharpen. I used to do that which always caused problems.

Okay, just started coloring a bit this morning, and I am having SO much fun. I LOVE coloring with my: *Talens Angora Watercolor Pan Set *Kuretake Waterbrush Both of these I have had for a long time but they are still available on amazon. Also, I LOVE the book I ordered from Jenean Morrison. The paper holds the color/water great, and I love the images. I don't think I need the Secret Garden book. This one is totally me. I will post a photo when I finish my first page. Have fun coloring everyone!
