Love the camera heartcat, that's what I look out for at charity shops. This is my latest one, it was a mess and I spent an enjoyable afternoon cleaning it up.

Oooh, great to see all the posts, and the photos! Thanks for the comments and compliments. Kelkeller, what a super deal on the skirts! **GypsyGirl** I cannot believe the price of that fabric at your thrift store. Ours is soooo much more expensive. Twoboyzmom, some good deals. I can't believe the price on that baby swing, that is great. Stefdesign, good luck with the search and if you find something, yes, please do share! Papersilly, I am sooooo envious! What a SCORE! And I love what you did with the tackle box, very creative. Cawoman, too bad we didn't all live in the same neighbourhood, the Refupeas would all be happy to come help you purge, lol. Coilstrand, getting things off season is a good idea, less competition and better prices generally. I have not been to an auction in years. I usually found that things went for more than I was willing to pay. But I have heard others sharing great deals that they got. Lisacharlotte, nice find! I have one the exact same colours, only mine is an Office-Riter. Will you use it to type things for scrapping/crafting? Dorichatelain, it is so nice to have family things. I have so few. Scrapsotime, you got some expensive things for such huge savings, that is wonderful. I have always wanted a four poster bed! Our room is so tiny though, it would never fit. Grom Pea that's too bad about the train set, at least you have the truck. And a donut. Megmc, that is great that your dh is so talented, and that he found something for his hobby (or is it his profession?). Kate, the aerator works great. It inserts into the bottle, and then pours out through the wider end, and it really does add to the flavour as it aerates. That's a shame about no sales there. Do you mean just right now, or there are never really any there? Jemali, eagerly awaiting the next page to see the dress, lol. That is a great price for a prom dress. Alissa103, I remember board games at that age, and trying to find something appropriate. Sounds like you did well. Gotranch, wow, you really cleaned up! And it's always so nice when you find lots of stuff at one sale, rather than having to wait and visit multiple sales to get things. Bothmykidsrbrats, there is a Sally Ann thrift store here that is much like that. I rarely go there, and never for clothes, only hoping to find something vintage. I think the only thing I've ever bought there were some candles. Mrsscrapdiva, excellent prices on the bags! I remember when my ds was into Pokemon. Grinningcat, church garage/rummage sales are great sources for glassware. Maryannscraps, what did your dad do there? Crimsoncat05, sounds like some very interesting pieces! Especially the Native one and the vintage bracelet! For some reason I can't see page two so I'll have to post this and then check it out. Thanks so much for sharing everyone! I love reading about your finds, and seeing pics.

Teddyw, that is a bummer about the fridge. Jemali, that dress is beautiful...as is your dd! The colour and style look wonderful on her! Lainey...a Voigtlander....very nice! So nice to see that the Refupeas found some neat things!

Love the typewriter.....did you know that Tom Hanks collects typewriters? I always thought that was a neat fact about him.

Love the typewriter.....did you know that Tom Hanks collects typewriters? I always thought that was a neat fact about him. My dad unknowingly collects IBM Selectric typewriters. I say unknowingly because I don't think he remembers how many he has because they are spread over his house and office.

I wanted the typewriter for Project Life. I'd rather type directly on the card instead of doing the print, line up, reprint thing. Plus I like the randomness of the ink being lighter and darker depending on how hard I hit the keys. Mostly because I learned to type in the dark ages on a manual typewriter and it makes me feel 14 again. ?

I use my typewriter for journaling on tags, etc. I will also type lines of journaling and then cut put the individual journaling strips onto my layouts. There's no way I can write small enough (or neat enough) to get that much onto a page. When I have a lot of journaling I want to get onto a layout, the typewriter is better. (plus, our home printer seems to never have working ink cartridges-- lol!)

Love the Pyrex and the camera! My first rummage sale of the season will be Saturday. There is always a big crowd and a line to get in. Everyone is always so darn excited for the season to start.

Boopie or berwick glass was made by anchor hocking as a cheap alternative to candlewick glass.
Boopie glass = the glass balls are fused together and thick
Candlewick = the glass edging is delicate and the balls are separate.

Of course, I can't get my pictures to post!
I went to hump day(40%) at GW today. I got a brand new 5X7 area rug in the exact colors I have been looking for, for $30. That is a little pricey but I know what they cost new, so I went for it!
A Martha Stewart cupcake border punch for $1.20
A new pair of Coach shoes. Black and silver cheetah print, really cute for $4.20
4 pairs of new pj pants. All the same fabric but different colors for $1.20 each.
A pair of brown Birkenstock sandals for $2.80
All in all, a successful shopping day!

Rsegrwr, that is a neat fact about Tom Hanks. Are you a big Tom Hanks fan, or did you just happen to hear that one time and it stood out to you? Papersilly, and IBM Selectric was my first electric typewriter. I made $210 on a game show in my early twenties, and with the money that is what I bought. Lisacharlotte, I agree with you about the look of typewritten words. And I had to grin to read about you learning to type at 14. That's how I was when I bought a manual typewriter. I used to spend hours as a teen in my room, writing stories on it. I have a nostalgic attachment to them too. Crimsoncat05, I hear you about the printer, lol. And the replacement ink is always so expensive. Our has been sitting unused in the basement for a couple of years now. Melanell, I hope that you have a great day today! And I look forward to your sharing any finds with us. Rainbow, that is funny, lol. And there is no such thing as 'too much Harry Potter'! Kimberlyr that is an excellent profit. I often see things at sales that I figure I could resell, but I have never done it. I have this gut feeling that it would be bad karma for me. I have always been so lucky at finding things that I wanted/needed, and have this idea that if I tried to profit from it, my luck would dry up. So I only buy for personal use and donate things when I no longer want them. But there are times when I am tempted, and I know some people do very well reselling. Megmc, I had not idea what boopie glass was, I had to google it. I had some candlesticks one time that looked like that. Mztfied, that is practically free, lol! What colour is the fabric? Grammanisi, sometimes even though something seems to be priced a bit 'high' by thrifting standards, when you consider what it costs new, and that it is perfect for you, it's totally worth it. You got some great deals. I wish that you were able to get the photos to show, that's a shame. Those Coach shoes sound like something I'd have snatched up myself and I'd love to see them. Thanks so much for sharing everyone! I hope that everyone who is going out today has great success. Dh has to work today so I won't be going garage saling, but I do plan to take a walk over to the thrift store and browse around. So perhaps we can start a new thread later.

What a fun thread. We had a community garage sale here today. I think I saw at least 20. Most were junk. Lots of clothes just tossed in piles. Saw some furniture and a few ping pong tables and lots if baby stuff. DS got a beat up toy car but he was happy. I got a great score. I got more than 10 Martha Stewart punches. The circle edge, around the page sets and deep edge ones for $20. I thought I would get a few and she said $20 for the whole table. Score didn't think twice. Two iris holders with paper and card stuff and three scrapbooks. Not my favorite but will work for gifts. I went through the paper and will donate some and use the rest for cards or layouts.
I am envious of the old cameras. I love them and like to display them. I really like the one with the accordion thing and the one with the flash. Those are awesome. I have my Mothers camera and a few from hubby's grandfather. I love the typewriter to. I also want one for cards and project life. DH just found his but it is electric and not sure if it still works or if I can get ink for it. I need to test it out soon.

Two Goodwill finds: The green picnic basket on top. Everything looks better in threes, right? I like the look of the stack and the baskets are great for storage. $8. The wooden drawer on top is from an old sewing machine. This was wackily midCentury and my hope is it will corral my husband's pocket contents, which are normally strewn about. Love the faux wood ceramic. $1.99.

Okay, as long as I've jumped in this thread, what do I do with this ohsocoolbutpossiblyimpractical purchase? Bought it at an estate sale a few months ago for $14 and I keep tripping over it. It's a metal case that holds round metal canisters for film reels. My son is studying film, so I thought maybe he could hang the reels on his wall. I'm sure there's a clever storage use for the empty round canisters, but I haven't had an epiphany yet. Any ideas? (The case is 13 inches wide; the canisters are 7 inches across and one inch deep. I suppose the case could be used separately and the canisters stacked elsewhere, but there are short metal dividers inside the case for the film canisters.)

I found some Duplo blocks at a good price, but that was my only purchase at today's sales. But hey, first 2 sales of the season, so I'm happy just to go looking.

My aunt had the top one, it is at least from the forties.

Seriously in love with this! Could use it for ribbon storage. Or yarn? Crud. You're right. It would be a perfect use for ribbon storage...erm...for someone who doesn't already have an entire buffet drawer devoted to ribbon! I have more spools of ribbon that I have brains. But...you got me thinking, and I have just filled one film canister with sewing bobbins. Perfect. Much better than the Sucrets tins as I was using. Of course, I should now put that canister in with the rest of my sewing stuff, where nobody but me will see it...so, alas, my thinking cap is still on for the remaining canisters. I can not believe you got those for$8. They would be $20 each at thrift stores here. Nah, I was unclear. Only the green basket is newly acquired and eight dollars. I already had the other two. Nonetheless, I was surprised myself at the Goodwill price; figured it was an inexperienced pricer. I am an enthusiastic, yet silent, supporter of inexperienced pricers.

We scored a super cute prom dress for my older DD for $20. We're going to add a little color to it and then I'll post photos. :-D
Now I'm hunting for a chrome/vintagey bread box.

Scrapper100, community garage sales are great, it's nice having so many in the same area. Too bad most weren't very good, but sounds like that one made up for it with that awesome deal on all of that scrapping stuff! The cameras I have, except the one from college, are just from random people. It is so nice that yours have a family connection. AmeliaBloomer, I love how you display the baskets! Great buy on the green one. I like vintage things that that tray is a neat, quirky piece. That case with film reels is so wonderfully nostalgic! Good for you for having the foresight to pick it up even though you weren't sure at the time what you'd do with it. I have never seen something like that at a sale in my life. You've gotten some good ideas for it, and I LOVE the connection it has to your ds. Mellanel, the Duplo is a good start, and I agree it feels so good just to be getting out again. **GypsyGirl** I remember when you scored that Hermes scarf! How lucky that you found more of that quality fabric for such a great price. I couldn't get the links to work, so I googled it. I see that there are different colours, but at least I have a better idea of what you got. Very nice! Candleangie, what a great price on your dd's dress. I can't wait to see the photos! Good luck in your search for the bread box. I have seen them on occasion over the years. Do you have a vintage inspired kitchen? Thanks again all for sharing! I did get out to the thrift store yesterday and picked up a few things. I will photograph them today and add them later.

@megmc and **GypsyGirl** et al, Update: I spent last night filling up my film canisters with < drumroll> bobbins, buttons, velcro, elastic, seam binding, and extra pins. Most of those went back in the case. Canisters #8 and #9 are stacked on the desk - looking tres cool - with small office supplies. I hung three of the film reels on the wall next to a poster from a film competition my son won. The remaining film reels (some still have film on them) will go to my son. Thanks for the suggestions that kicked my brain out of inertia mode.
