I have several events coming up where I want to look my best. I stink at applying makeup and I have become very lazy in my routine.
Where do you recommend for a makeup consultation? I am looking for great tips and easy to follow instructions. I have heard great things about MAC and Bobby Brown. What about Ulta or Sephora?

Unless you are partial to a particular brand I'd go to Ulta or Sephora for a makeover. It's a really good idea to do this yearly regardless to update your look. Same goes for your hairstyle and eye glasses.

I just went to Sephora on Saturday for a makeover. I have to say I am not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I liked that I learned to do some things because I am makeup challenged to some degree. On the other hand I was given a guy who while I am sure is talented in his own ways I kind of felt like they didn't have enough people to cover the makeovers and were grabbing someone. I heard parts of a conversation and just the whole makeover made me feel like I was more of a person for him to practice on. I loved him but lets just say I won't be repeating any of his color choices.
I plan on watching some youtube vidoes and I can't say I won't return to Sephora because I do plan on it. I just hope it's a bit different. I am a VIP Rouge so it's free but otherwise you have to spend $50 there which is no problem for me because I like so many of the skincare products they have. They also have free drop ins for 15 min to learn a certain technique.
I did a walk through in Macys and saw many people getting make up lessons at the vendor counters I think I would just make sure it's a product line you care for. Personally I like Bobbi Brown. I tried a lot of her products and really like it. I have tried Nars which is so so for me, Clinque isn't too bad but I am not a fan of some other lines so for me I would just wouldn't go there for a full makeover.

I took my 13 year old DD to Ulta for a make-over and it was amazing!! I totally recommend it to anyone, and I plan on going sometime! It was very laid back and nice. No pressure to buy really expensive make up. Our guy was very sweet and sensitive, took his time, did a great job showing DD the steps and giving advice and tips.

I just changed to IT cosmetics from bare minerals, and IT is super easy (pun intended). The celebration foundation and brush is FANTASTIC! I also like the pore minimalizing HD powder. You can get it all on QVC, and their videos there are pretty good too, I bet they are on youtube as well. www.youtube.com/results?search_query=it+cosmetics+celebration+foundation

Following . As I've aged I really need to change up my makeup routine. My regular makeup just doesn't do my face and small wrinkles any favors

I went to Ulta and had my face done at the Clinque section. I liked the results and learned a few things.

We went to Ulta when my teen dd was starting to wear make up. They were great. I have gone back a couple times for myself. Once when I felt I needed to ditch Bare Minerals and once for some brow advice. I like the ability to pick and choose from different product lines.

Thank you all for your replies. I will try Ulta first and see how that goes.
