Does your dog use his? Do you have more than one bed? More importantly, how do you keep them clean?!? Links?

I have two dog beds and she does lie on them occasionally but does she sleep on them as a bad? No. She sleeps on the chair, she sleeps on the couch, she sleeps on the loveseat and will sleep on beds depending on who is in it. She basically will sleep wherever she finds a human blanket that she calls dibs on as her own. She is more likely to run to her bed if she is in trouble or is protecting one of her toys or bones. If I move one of her beds to the floor near me when I sit at the table, she will lie on it and I do this because her fur wears off on her joints when she lays to long on the hardwood floors and that bothers me.
As for cleaning, I vacuum them weekly and occasionally spot treat them. I only clean the outer covers after learning long ago that the inside pad breaks down to the point of unusable if washed. I do give my dog regular baths so thankfully she isn't a stinky dog making for a stinky bed.

We have a huge round comfy dog bed for Lucy that we got from Costco ... the cats sleep on it The cover comes off to be washed ... Lucy prefers to sleep on the sofa, loveseat, floor or in her kennel We have leather furniture so it is easy enough to just wipe down

We have three dogs and two dog beds. One dog doesn't care for it; the other two love them! We are thinking of getting a fourth dog, so we will get another bed. Our absolute favorite that we find hold up very well are the Magestic Pet Bagel Beds. I get them on amazon. To clean, I just vacuum. Works well for us.

Oh and here is our rough collie puppy playing in his when we first brought him home. He is now 14 weeks old, double the size, and still plays like this in his bed when he is not sleeping. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR0YlUpJXhg

We have 3 dogs and two beds. They all sleep on them at one time or another. My one dog prefers the ones with the sides on it as she always likes to lay her head on something and uses the sides as a pillow. We try to get the ones with the zip off covers. However, stores around us tend to have them on good sales on black Friday and I buy new ones every year. I have big dogs and they use them quite a bit.

my dog thinks of dog beds as $100 chew toys. besides, why does she need a dog bed when she can sleep in ours? (at least that's what she thinks!)

Remy the Killer Shih Tzu has a luxurious king size bed in the master bedroom. He has a king size comforter that he doesn't like to share that doesn't happen to fit in my washing machine so when he wakes the family up say, vomiting all over that comforter, the female parental unit has to spend the day at the laundromat with a sack full of quarters to wash and dry that ginormous comforter so that he can have it back when he wants to sleep again.
He also will sleep on the couch, loveseat, chair or sunny spot on the floor. Preferably on top of a human lap to keep him to his desired temperature and comfort throughout the day.

Sophie has a dog bed -- I think we got it at Costco. She doesn't spend a lot of time in it, but sometimes she sleeps there. Mostly she sleeps on the furniture or the boy's bed.
The cats, however, LOVE the dog bed on sunny afternoons.
I throw it in the wash.

Opie (Shar-Pei/Bull terrier mix) has a bed in his kennel. Well, he HAD a bed. He chewed it up. Came home after being gone TWO hours, and there was stuffing everywhere. That was his second one in 6 months. So no more beds. He has two blankets in his kennel, one is *his* that he will drag around the house to curl up under where ever the need for a nap strikes him!

He has 3. LOL He uses all 3. I make sure all of his new beds have removable covers that are machine washable. We have gotten them from Hollywood Feed Donut Bed, Costco and Target. He also sleeps on his very own bench in front of the front window, the couch and the big chair. He is not allowed on our bed.

My girl is a chewer and she has chewed several beds. I finally bought her a kong bed and it appears to be chew proof. It's not nearly as nice and luxurious as other beds she has had, though. But it works. She sleeps on it until DH gets out of bed in the morning, then she gets in bed with me.

Dakota the lhasa apo only slept in his bed when it was in his crate. He has free range of the house now. Typically he sleeps in my bed (which I hate because I don't like to share). It has everything to do with being close to me nothing to do with the bed being comfy. If I slept on the floor he'd sleep there. DH usually takes him and lets him sleep with him. I want to break him of the habit since he's a puppy but DH likes him sleeping with him so it's not fair to the puppy to send mixed signals.

Our Golden also sees dog beds as expensive chew toys. She's destroyed two. I think it's her way of telling us she prefers the couch.

Yes, my dogs love their beds. We usually buy beds that can be taken apart to wash. Most come from Petsmart. We usually choose quality over cheap prices

Do any of you remember the old flip-flop chairs? When folded up, you could set on it as a chair with a back. When folded out, it could be used as a bed. Well, that's what Pepper uses as a day bed and sometimes sleeps on it at night. Most of the time, he prefers the queen size bed with me and his Daddy. Pepper is a 100 pound Golden, so he sleeps where ever he wants too. He also thinks of himself as a LAP dog sometimes. But I love it!!!!!

One of the dogs is obsessed with the dog beds. He has a memory foam dog bed in his crate that he sleeps on because he's crated at night. He's a greyhound and really does need the padding of a dog bed because he's so bony. He also has two other beds that he lays on and drags around the house and wrestles with. (He's kind of a weirdo. ) The beds all have covers that zip off and they go in the washing machine. The other dog will sometimes lay on the dog beds but since he sleeps in the bed with my son, he's not as focused on them and will lay on the floor just as often as he lays on the beds.

We tried a dog bed. She ignored it. She actually preferred the boys' bean bag chair so that's her bed when she doesn't burrow under our covers on our bed. Our beagle now sleeps in DS2's room, on his bed with him because he'll let her. The cat tends to sleep with DS1. Since the beagle tends to sleep on the actual beds more than the bean bag, I just wash the sheets and blankets more often. I don't really care for a pillow that smells like corn chips.

I can't find the bed that I bought Sadie. I got it on Amazon. The important factors for me were: size (she's a Great Dane and it can be challenging to find one big enough), orthopedic support (she's a skinny girl), and removable cover. She does like her bed, but as others have stated, she prefers the couch or my bed. I upgraded to king to accommodate her!

We looked at more expensive memory foam ones but didn't feel we needed that especially since we think the puppy might chew it up instead of really enjoy memory foam. LOL!

We have some of the foam dog beds with zip off outer covers that can be washed, but usually by the time they need to be washed the foam inside is trashed and it's time to buy a new one. Two of our dogs used to like going in their kennels to sleep when we lived in our old house. That house was small, so it made sense they would want to find an out of the way place to sleep. We moved to a much bigger house, and since then we have a different setup now. The big dog who used to love his kennel now mostly sleeps on the floor where he can stretch out. I put my little dog's kennel under my desk in my office/studio, and he will sometimes go in there if he's down there with me. Other times he will pick a spot on the floor, typically right where I have to step over him *every* time I have to walk past. All three dogs dogs want to sleep on my relatively newly reupholstered chair in the family room which drives me insane. So now my nice new chair has to be covered with a ratty dog blanket at all times. So attractive! We have two of those cushy giant dog beds from Costco at our lake cabin, and they will go on them for a while--until we go to bed. If we don't put something on our two newish recliners there, one of the dogs will first go into one chair until it's nice and wet, then he'll switch to the OTHER chair until it is also nice and wet! Uggggh! So we always have to remember to put a laundry basket or something on each chair at night to keep the dog off.

Either your dogs are extra rough or you bought the "wrong" bed. I've had mine more than 3 years, and it's still in great shape! I think it's one of those situations where it's cheaper in the long run to buy the expensive bed to start with.

our dog is not allowed on any of the furniture-she has a dog bed we got from LL Bean-we had several other, cheaper ones, but they just seemed to get junked up very quickly and the filling would always get squished. we now have the LL Bean therapeutic one and while it was expensive, it has a removable cover that I can toss in the washer and dryer and it holds its shape really well. she also scratches at it incessently (trying to make a little "well" in the center) and it's held up great from that abuse
she's a bulldog who is 11 years old so needs the extra padding the memory foam gives

So by the time the cover gets nasty, the foam inside is pretty shot too. We would put the bed inside their kennels so we didn't get the super thick ones like we have at the lake. Usually they would last 2-3 years or so.

We actually have memory foam beds for our dogs and sadly they are now flat in the middle. It's been a little over a year and I would have hoped they would have lasted longer. No more memory foam for our pups, doesn't seem worth it . We thought it'd be great because they are both 10yrs old...old bones.

After almost 15 years and 4 dogs we've finally figured out the best bed...the cozy cave. The dogs love it. It's easy to take the cover (and plastic hoop for the hood) off and throw in the washing machine. Not the cheapest bed, but worth the $$. We bought the bed about a year ago and it's still in great shape (no holes, etc., which considering our crazy dogs is a miracle)

I buy various beds from different places, but the first thing I do is take off the cover, and put the stuffing into a plastic trash bag so that it never gets dirty or needs washing.
