My sister-in-law gave me the COOLEST book ever when my kids were little (about 13 years ago). It was a German book, but they must have some sort of equivalent here. I just don't know what to look for. It is a book that you put your fingers in and use them to manipulate the puppets. Hers was about three mice, so you needed three fingers and the poor solitary mouse finally found friends by the end of the book. I have found ones with ONE finger you put in it, but I love that this book you discovered "friends." I don't care if the book is in German or French, but I would love to find a book like that. I searched for kids' books with holes/puppets in them and I get these rather simplistic books with one hole and one figure puppet (and the novel "Holes"). I want something slightly more sophisticated than the 4" books they are showing, but not too crazy as this is for a toddler.
Does anyone know of any book out there? What I really need is Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail!
Thank you!!

I used to have one called Ten Little Lady Bugs. B&N has it link
ETA - oops, re-read your post. The child's fingers don't go in this one. But there are holes for the lady bugs!

Look at board books. We've had several- one that made crab eyes, another had frogs or tadpoles or something. Our favorite was The Very Hungry Catepillar, it had holes, but not that you put your fingers in.
ETA: Finger Puppet books!! Search finger puppet books!

I know exactly what book you're talking about, my niece has it. Unfortunately I'm not going to be at her house again until next week. Hopefully someone can think of the name!

Oooh.. we used to have books like that for my oldest girls when they were little. They weren't German, though. I wish I still had them.
Have you tried searching for "finger puppet book". I think that's what I would call them.

This isn't what I was looking for, but is super cute and sadly out of stock. Still, it's a good choice. The ladybug book is also super cute, but no finger holes:( Still, a great option! Thank you all for your research! I am not looking for a one-dimension one - one with the same head sticking out on each page, but something that is more similar to the circus book or something with puppets that are attached in the book and go through holes in the page. Now I sound as picky as my teenaged daughter! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) but the German book was the cutest! I looked on Amazon Germany but didn't find it. And FWIW, I think I looked at every finger puppet book. I hope I didn't miss one!

I know exactly what you're talking about! All of my childhood books are in my basement, but I'll try to get down there and see if I can find the one I had. Mine was about caterpillars and your fingers went through the holes and acted as the caterpillars. I loved it!!!

Do you mean a book like this? www.amazon.com/Circus-Funny-Fingers-Books-Karin/dp/0789201798I remember having one as a kid. We have a simple puppet one now called "in my ocean" with a dolphin and one called "in my jungle"with a monkey. Eta I see I duplicated someone else's suggestion, that will teach me to walk away mid post ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg)
