It took me about 5 weeks, almost every night for at least an hour to 2.5 hours. I estimate approximately 35-40 hours in it. "Pop" is the title. It's an ode to my Midwest roots. We don't say soda or coke, we say pop. Period. lol It's 16x20 on arches watercolor board. I use a variety of paint but mostly schminke and Daniel smith. I tried to do a video painting my last cap (the yellow one) my camera battery kept dying so if I get it all together I'll show you. Thanks for looking. I love sharing with you guys!

It's gorgeous! I love it.
When I first opened your thread, I thought that you had put in a photo of the bottle caps first and then your painting after that.
So you did this painting with watercolour paint in the tubes?
I'm just amazed at the realism as well as the metallic edges of the pop caps.
You are so very talented!

Thank you! I use pans mostly, but the pans are made from tube paints. I think that's why in part I've developed painting the way I do because with pans it's harder to get a lot of juicy paint going so you get a little bit at a time. With large areas of red and yellow especially, I need to go straight from tubes to get intense enough colors.

That's gorgeous - I really thought it was a photo! It's my favorite that you've done and shared so far. The details, the tiny letters, the rusty edges, the shadows....absolutely stunning!

I love it! I thought it was a photo at first too. Amazing! It would go so perfectly next to the art I'm going to make some day using all the different bottle caps my husband has been collecting for years

This is amazing. It looks just like a photo (and I thought it was, when I saw it on the craft thread last week).
I want this painting! I have actual bottle cap art in my kitchen, and I like the idea of taking that further. Could you make prints from this somehow?

eta; it's interesting that you call it 'pop', but most of those caps say 'soda' on them. I grew up with 'soda pop' or hearing all sodas being 'Coke' by relatives. Don't think I ever had a soda pop till I was maybe 11 or 12.

That is one amazing painting - just fantastic. We say 'pop' here too - and to me that title exactly describes your painting!!

It's a regional thing. Doesn't matter what it's called, we call it pop. lol
