I know most of the US people aren't able to watch, but she is doing a rental cottage in a 6 episode series. The cottage is in the beautiful Georgian Bay area, sleeps 8, and is on a private, 8 acre island. Sarah's Cottage RentalThe rates are definitely on par with cottages in that area (although the Facebook crowd seems to think she's out of her mind) But the link has photos to all the rooms, and the rate info as well. Enjoy!

OMG, who do you know in that area where 4,500 per week is on par with cottage rental prices?? I know three different people who rent their cottages (lakefront, varying places across cottage country), and no one charges more than 1,000 a week, and I think even that is pricey.

Nobody actually - I was just going by the comments on the Facebook post by others. A few people have said it is on par for something similar in the area, so I just assumed it was. I've never rented a cottage up there so I took their word for it!

It's beautiful. I imagine the cost is fair for renting an entire island for a week!

Based on the HomeAway listings it does sound steep for the area. I misread and thought it was 8 bedrooms and didn't think the rate was outrageous for a mutliple family vacation, but for a 3 bedroom it is high. HomeAway Georgian Bay

I looked into a rental on Georgian Bay and it is fairly "normal" but on the high end. But for that kind of place, I can see why. It will definitely get people though.

I saw that this morning on my Facebook feed. Beautiful home. I am hoping that we get this series later this year. The last one was okay, but it was missing Tommy! It looks like he is back for this one, correct? It is pricey, but because it sleeps so many if more than one family went and shared the cost it wouldn't be too bad. How hard is it to get to this island? Tommy is back - and he has some seriously funny comments - I love him!! The description on her page says if you don't have your own boat, water taxi is easily arranged for getting there/making supply runs.

I'm not loving the blueish greenish floors, but the rest of the home is very nice!

On an 8 acre private island? Those prices don't sound outrageous to me. Not a bargain, but not insane either.

The fact that you are getting a private island with that price makes it much more on par with other rental prices.
It is a lovely home, but I could wish the kitchen were a little bigger. Not huge, chef's kitchen, but bigger, especially if it takes a boat to get to the mainland. You'll have to do a lot of your own cooking while you're there.

Lord -- a two bedroom, one bath (essentially) double-wide, with window air conditioners on the Lake of the Ozarks goes for 1200 - 1500 per week here! I saw some houses, on the same Lake, for $4500 - 6000 per week ... lovely and very large, but it is still the Lake of the Ozarks!
