My Greek MIL is full of superstitions and old wive's tales, but my favorite ever was this morning when she told DS he had to finish his breakfast or he would end up marrying an ugly woman. DS laughed and she said, "it's true, look at your mom & dad. Everyday I made him to finish his the food on his plate and see, he married a beautiful woman!" I really need to start writing these down  . |

How sweet! My mother was the queen of quips and wives tales. I try to use them when I can. I need to write them down before I forget them. Your mil sounds like a hoot. |

My elderly Italian parents,(not to dissimilar to the Greeks) after almost 60 years of marriage have just had to split up due to Dad's ill health, so I'm feeling very sentimental about these things.
