What is the strangest thing you've seen in a vending machine? We have a vending company up the street. They have a Coke machine and a snack machine outside for public use. DH and I were wanting something sweet, so we went up there. This was the first time I've used the snack machine. You can get your cookies, crackers, chips, and candy. But you can also get a blunt tip for rolling your blunts. You can get Advil or Tylenol. You can also get condoms and rolling papers for "homemade cigs". Oh, and batteries. I have never seen any of those extras (other than the pain relief) in a vending machine before. Much less on a public road. ***Update*** So, I was at my dd's school today and just so happened that one of the employees from the vending company was there. I asked her about the condoms. She said they are one of their #1 moved items !! She said think about it, they don't have to go into the store, no id needed, no one sees them. So I guess it's kind of brilliant!

I've seen some of those in a bar vending machine, but not all together in one

Panty hose in a vending machine in Hooters. The girls have to wear them with their uniforms so I guess they make replacing ruined ones easier.

Las Vegas would make a killing if they had a vending machine for pairs of ballet flats!

I have a picture of a vending machine that dispensed coupons. We were at an outlet mall for that.
Airports have ones with electronics - I totally get forgetting ear buds, but not sure I'd actually buy a tablet from one. :-)

Years ago there were the perfume spritzers in woman's restrooms. Made the restroom rather stinky.

We have a vending machine at the pool that'll dispense goggles, and there's one at the ice rink that has hockey tape available.

A meatloaf sandwich in a cheapie hotel (after which I restricted my Hotwire usage to four stars or more). Ewww!

Smoked salmon jerky in a hospital vending machine. It was actually pretty good, and a great price. Provided to help AL native peoples feel more accepted and comfortable, but apparently they found that the primary buyers were women on low carb diets.

Las Vegas would make a killing if they had a vending machine for pairs of ballet flats! I thought that was such a great idea I just texted my daughter who's in Vegas right now. She said they saw one yesterday at Planet Hollywood.

I remember seeing one at Safeway grocery store in northern CA. I actually bought ink from one for a printer.
DH saw a beer vending machine in Japan.

An EMF meter for detecting ghosts! I have a photo somewhere. It was in the office of a local walking tour business, and ghost tours are one of their offerings (I went with my office for a bonding experience). The machine was full of the usual snacks, and then down in the corner. . .

In response to the previous posts about flats in Vegas. I believe they are scattered all around the strip. There is one in the food court of the Fashion Show Mall on the strip that has the roll up flats. Really a good idea.

I saw a Proactiv vending machine today in the mall. I was just going to post that! I saw that one time and thought it was very odd. I also saw cosmetics in a vending machine in a mall in California. Thought that was odd too.

Thought that was odd too. When I was told this might be effective for DS' acne, I looked it up. You could only order it via their website (where they wanted to put you on a monthly shipping plan (I think it was monthly), or by going to a vending machine. I went to the machine instead and got what we needed. Sadly it didn't work very well. Dermatologist was our next stop.

Philly has vending machines that have IPads, iPhone and iPods in them. We saw this in the Buffalo Airport as well. I envisioned my husband going to get a coffee and coming back with a new iPad and DS with Beats headphones.

Our public library has one outside that has new release books and dvds. You just scan your library card and enter the number of what you want and down it comes. I LOVE it. I can get a book even when they are closed.

My daughter's dance studio had one that dispensed pink tights and water bottles. I'm not sure why black tights were not dispensed.

Outside the Wal*Mart in Radcliffe/Elizabethtown KY they used to have a vending machine for fishing bait. You could get worms, fish eggs, and anything else bait related. 'Cause you know, going in would have been a huge inconvenience.

In Japan it was illegal to buy alcohol for people under 20 years of age except kids who had money and went to vending machines for 1 and 2 L bottles of beer for their dads. That was fine, of course. Cigarettes as well. They were 400 yen a package so $4? As long as the child wasn't buying for him/herself the police just looked the other way.
(Also if the child had a note from the parent to buy cigarettes and alcohol at 7-11 from parent, the 7-11 clerk would sell it to him. The kid had a note. That meant it was all right. That was very common.)

My son will attend college next year. In the engineering department, they have a vending machine with a drill, duct tape and bottles of Gorilla Glue. They swipe their ID card to use it.

Some of the locations of Sprinkles Cupcakes have cupcake ATMs for getting a cupcake fix when the store is closed.
