I'm a junior high teacher (on a medical leave) and I had a student when I was first teaching in 1996 that I really clicked with ... she, along with her group of friends, would eat lunch in my classroom and we just had a great relationship She went off to high school and I went to a different junior high and then went on this leave ... I've always thought about her and wondered what became of her ... I'm very active on Pinterest ... I have over 70,000 followers ... and she somehow put two and two together and found me! She looked me up on Facebook and I couldn't believe it!!! We met up today and it was awesome I'll admit that I got a bit emotional because it had been so long since I had seen her ... 15 years! I'm happy that we are both adults now and can be friends Here's what she posted on my Facebook wall this afternoon: Pea Teachers, have you ever had a similar experience?

Awesome. Great story. My music teacher contacted me out of the blue several years ago as she was visiting Denver. So good to reconnect.

That's neat. One of my former students (15 years ago) was in my room for student teaching last year. She's a coworker this year. It's fun!

I like to visit my first grader from 1988 in NYC. I had a previous student come in today because it was kindergarten round up day and her little boy was starting school. There are a few kiddos I have taught that I would love to know what happened to them. I know I have one on Broadway, one worked for Bush (senior) one protected Bush (junior) and there are countless others who are teachers. I love it.

I started in preschool, so while the parents remember me, the students rarely do. My first class of preschoolers are in college now. I jumped to 5th grade for a year and then to the behavior program. I am now in a high school where I have mamy of the students at least two periods and have most of them for at least 2, maybe 3 years. I would love to have that type of experience with a student in the future.

This is one of the best parts of the job! I just ordered a wedding present for a former student of mine. He was in my class when I taught first grade! I love hearing what they are up to!

I tracked down my old Child Development teacher through her daughter on facebook (she always talked about her daughter). I was so grateful I had the change to thank her for the impact she had on my life. She is partly why I chose to major in Family and Human Development. I bet your former student was super excited to see you. You never really get to see the impact you have on your students life but it's there!

At one time, 4 of my former high school students were teaching at my school - and one was an assistant principal there, too

That is so cool! I bet it's the most rewarding part of being a teacher!

One of my daughter's former students is now the teacher of this same daughter's daughter (my granddaughter.) Confused?

Back in my first year of teaching high school (1986) I taught a boy who wasn't exactly a stellar student or even well behaved in class, but somehow I struck up a mentor like relationship with him. A few years ago I heard from him and he told me what a huge impression I made on him. He got himself together, went to college, and became an English teacher. He told me he wanted to be "just like you." I was in awe and it was a cloud 9 moment for me.
You never know how you are touching the life of a student.
