So with the countdown to summer starting, I have been making some plans for my kids.
We have a family reunion in Colorado and may spend an extra day or two in Denver before coming home. That will be our family vacation.
DD16 is looking for a job so she likely won't be doing much more than swimming with us this summer. She does plan to go to Girls Camp as well as our family reunion. DS14 will be at football practice daily from 8 am to noon. So the majority of planned activities will be for DS6 and DS3.
I bought what is known as the Pass of All Passes for all 6 of us. Got a great deal on them. They're good for 1 year, and give free access to two local water parks, two local fun centers, as well as a bunch of other things so even if DD and DH only go swimming this summer, it'll still have been worth it. So we will go swimming at least 3x/week (MWF). We'll go to the library (our county library system has a Summer Reading Program) on Tuesdays and on Thursdays we'll visit various parks around our city. We'll take lunch and eat there, and then enjoy some playtime.
I've also made plans for Mommy Camp. Each week will have a theme and a field trip and some simple activities. For example, the first week after school is out will be Build and Create. We'll visit the local children's museum. We'll also do fun simple things like build something with Legos, build something with blocks, play with clay, paint with fingerpaints/watercolors/paint, make chalk drawings, build things with food bits and toothpicks, etc. Other themes are The Great Outdoors (camping, hiking, etc.), America the Beautiful (our Independence Day celebration), Space, Where the Wild Things Are (zoo animals), Out on the Ranch (farm animals), Car Racing, Transportation, Ancient World (dinosaurs), and Under the Sea (sea animals). Since the library will not be that long of an activity, we'll do our field trips on Tuesdays.
I've also found some local hikes that should be OK for my two younger boys. Just last night I found a blog link that had a list of waterfalls to visit. So I'll add that in. I'd like to do some weekend campouts. We've lived in our city for 8 years but haven't really explored the mountain recreational areas so it's time to do that!
Two years ago I came up with a "bucket list" of things to do and places to visit around our city and county, as well as some fun things to do (like get slurpees from 7-11 on July 11th, sample our locally produced food, do the Lego building challenge, etc.).
Of course, we'll still have chores to do since the house won't clean itself and the dishes won't wash themselves but I think we'll still have a really fun summer!
What are you doing?

This is our first summer that we are trying to schedule things for Jacy's summer. In June she is doing an art camp for kids with autism at the Dallas Museum of Art. In July she is doing dance camp where she takes dance lessons. And we are saving for an autism camp in August that is pricey but I've heard it is worth every single penny. Somewhere in there we will do a couple of weeks of swim lessons too.

Not too much firmed up yet although I should get on it...DD graduates June 4th!
We hope to get to Mammoth which is 6-7 hours away but where DD hopes to go to the junior college this fall. DS/DH haven't seen the set up yet. That may be in June.
We have camping reservations for a weekend at the beach in July.
My 50th birthday is the middle of August. Not sure what to do yet. It's a busy time for band camp for DS and DD will more than likely be in high gear getting ready to leave.
DS may go visit his former babysitting client up near San Francisco. They flew him up for a week last year and he had a blast!
I hope DD does some babysitting since she recently quit her job at Legoland. DS might get some gigs too.
I work through July but I'm home by about 3. I will have August off unless something changes. I then hope to work with the kids to purge this house. I am so sick of all our crap!
DS starts band camp around August 1, so our summer is short. It's every day for two weeks (they come home at night) but then school starts around August 19.

She was excited initially but the reality of having taxes taken out and working in the hot sun all day sort of took a bite out of the excitement.
She was scheduled on a school afternoon (normally she could make it). However, the school schedule changed just for that day with only a day notice. She then had to call in and even after explaining the situation, they said if she did it again, she'd be fired. Not the most understanding of places when they employ teens but I understand they have to cover all the rides, etc.
She also realized she would need a ton of time off for year end activities since she's a senior and has band year end stuff too. All in all, I wish she had stuck with it longer, but I think she did learn some things. The good thing with babysitting is that it's more flexible and no taxes.
I do hope she finds a job in Mammoth though, maybe working at the ski resort this coming winter.

My daughter is doing 3 or 4 weeks of camps. We also have free movie days locally so a few of those. Swimming at the neighborhood pool or my in laws house and a week or 2 vacationing with my mom. Other than that we are redoing 2 bedrooms. One is for her and one for the baby arriving this fall.

Younger dd is going on a school trip to NYC.
Both dds are going to science summer camps (CSI for younger and Medical Lab Sciences for older) at Michigan Tech University. Different weeks though, which means three l-o-n-g trips up there.
Older dd and I are going to DisneyvWorld on a surprise trip (for dd) for her birthday.
Not a lot as a family planned, but will do some local stuff.

Pool. Summer school for ds#2. Therapeutic Rec Camp for ds#1.
I'm one of those wretched moms that has a very hard time with summer. Mainly because I have two kids with Autism who don't function well without the structure of school.

My DD will spend a month in Cayman with her Dad... rough life.... though to be honest.. her friends in Cayman will still be in school and her friends who are away at boarding school won't be home yet.. so she will be bored! Her Dad and StepMom both work full time and her baby brother will be at day care.. so Im checking to see if she can volunteer at the Montessori school she went to when she was little.
She is back for a week, then she goes to camp at Westminster College in Princeton to do Vocal performance and musical theatre.
When she is back from that her theatre program is worshipping a JR version of Peter Pan, the Mary Martin, not Disney show. She is waiting to find out her part in that!
Then we will go away for a week.. not sure where yet.. and then back to school! Whoosh summer done!
Edit to add.. while she is gone I hope to meet some of my friends from Cayman in Miami for a weekend. My birthday weekend, when she is at camp I will meet some friends in Nashville, where will we celebrate our birthdays.. two of us share a birthday, and we will campaign for our friend who is running for Mayor. Some fun for Mom!

I'm old and so are my kids One lives two blocks away from me in ND but the other lives in CT. I'm so excited because next month my DD, her two boys and I are flying out to visit my other DD, my SIL and 3 grandsons in CT for a week!! I bought tickets for all of us to go to Boston and see a Red Sox game, we're planning on going to Six Flags, The Basketball Hall of Fame, swimming at a local lake and my oldest grandson is getting confirmed and is celebrating his 14th birthday while we're there. I can't wait to have all my babies in one place together which is something that rarely happens

DH and I both work full time, so it's a mix of things for our daughter. One week my mom is coming to visit, one week she is going with DH to visit his family, we have a two week vacation planned, and the rest is a local day camp. And I just signed her up for one week of sleep away camp. She's only 7 and I was hesitant - but she really wanted to go, so hopefully it goes well!

Nothing and everything. 16 year old will be working part time...fingers crossed. Hubby has taken off 4 weeks, 2 in July & 2 in August. We will be spending many days at the pool, Ocean and on the boat. Boardwalk, boardwalk amusement park and tons of fireworks...every Thursday night. Movies at the lake, they play a kid friendly movie outside on a large screen every Sunday night. Have sparklers, chase frogs & dragonflys. Aquaruim, trip on the ferry, finishing the spare bedroom, building a new bed, doing some small projects for the high school, lots of trips to the library & super villian training. Finish treehouse, turtle hospital, lots of friends over. Fairy houses & Sunflower garden. Stars Wars marthon with a bunch of friends and kids. Each week we will switch houses and have potluck dinners & watch all the Star Wars movies. Same thing with the Fast and Furious movies. Finish reading the Outlander series, binge watch Orange is the new black. Youngest is making up a bucket list so I'm sure it will change.

We'll be road trippin' around Texas learning local history, enjoying a few tourist spots, swimming, hiking, fishing, visiting a natural cavern or two, visiting a few animal refuge areas, staying up too late, sleeping in until noon and house hunting.

Oldest is going to photography camp, youngest to orchestra camp, and both will volunteer at my art teacher friend's summer camp and at the dog rescue where we got our second dog. Then painting/decorating the new house, doing some landscaping, and just plain lying around. The girls will also fly up to KC to spend a week with their Nana at some point.

Sounds like there are some really fun plans in the works!
So far, we have plans for swimming, a soccer camp and a Japanese camp. Hope to fit in some Stand Up Paddle boarding and some golf too! Probably several days at the various beaches around as well!

DH and DD #2 are going to London, Paris and Rome in August.

DS has summer school (elective, get a head start on high school, not punitive) June 22-July 24, so I'll be driving him to and fro each day. That's nice together time.
We'll go to the beach and pool on the afternoons when he doesn't have lacrosse practice. I'll probably take him to visit my mother to go sailing and my aunt in St. Helena (DH has to work, so our family trips are limited to weekends.) He has five or six lacrosse tournaments on weekends, all within driving distance.
We love going to the Getty Villa for lunch, so we'll do that a few times.
He also volunteers at VBS for a week. Also, the World Special Olympics are being held this summer in town, so he's going to find volunteer opportunities there. There's also a restaurant (where homeless patrons are served by volunteers, with cloth napkins, silverware, and flowers on the table) that he can serve at a couple of times a week.

My son is 16 years old now. I am hoping he can find a part-time job but given his schedule constraints, it might not be possible. Our lives revolve around lacrosse so we will be traveling to multiple lacrosse tournaments over the summer. I love it! I'm going to be sad when he graduates and is no longer playing lacrosse.

So jealous of your Pass of All Passes. Two of my SILs live out there and they do some amazing things!
We have no firm plans. I don't even know when Scout camp is!

We are taking a two week road trip to Washington DC and Williamsburg in June. Library days, beach days. Oldest DD has tickets for One Direction in July, then has spinal fusion surgery in August. Then it's all about convalescing in time for school!

DS is taking a summer school class, and dd now has a job. So between school and work, not sure much exciting is coming. We'll definitely spend a lot of time in the backyard in the pool, but beyond that, nothing set. The other day dh and I discussed renting an RV and driving to the Black Hills and Badlands later in the summer. Both kids stared at each other, and you could hear a pin drop. Yeah, not the excited response we had hoped from them. Might save that trip for DH and I to take when the little rugrats are on their own, lol. I know they really hoped to head someplace tropical, but that's just not happening this year. And I just can't handle another road trip to Wisconsin Dells, or Michigan, or even Lake Geneva. So, no...nothing exciting coming.

We're going on our annual trip to Sunriver, OR, a camping trip to the coast, and an Alaskan cruise. A friend and I are taking our DD's (friends since 3rd grade), and 4 of their close friends, on a 2-night trip to Leavenworth, WA to celebrate their 16th birthday (they share a birthday). We'll also do a little college touring. My kids have never been to my college on the other side of the state!
Other than that, we will take it easy and play it by ear. We like the un-scheduled days of summer!

Not much. DH and I work full time all summer, so other than a week of vacation, we will likely just do some area museums on the weekends. Maybe a weekend road trip or two. Nothing too thrilling.

Ds (9) will do ESY (extended school year - like summer school but for special ed) as he regressed a bit last year. Dd (12) is going to a week long day camp for kids with Autism/Aspergers. Both kids are doing Autism Surf Camp. Dd may do a week day camp at the local museum. We are going to San Diego, museums, the pool, aquarium. And of course just hang around and relax. Oh and tent camping
