Shower 1x a day in the winter sometimes 2x a day in summer (depending how hot or if I have been swimming or have on sunscreen). Brush teeth 2x a day. Wash hair everyday. I didn't realize until I was in college or older that some people don't shower everyday or wash their hair everyday. My parents are clean freaks! lol I always have to shower after being out with sunscreen. I feel crabby until I wash it off.

I shower and wash my hair every day. I brush my teeth at least twice a day, if my teeth feel yucky, I will brush them again. I floss and use a dental rinse every day too.

This is also making me wonder about their bedding and couches and stuff. They must be in terrible condition.

I also love the way it smells! The perfect summer scent. And yes, I vote for Coopertone! My only issue is I don't like the way it feels. I used to buy a Neutragena "gel" sunscreen and loved it! I never felt like I was wearing sunscreen. But they stopped making it. When I was a kid, my favorite smelling sunscreen was Hawaiian Tropic Coconut Oil! Greasy, but smelled so good.

I shower every day, first thing in the morning. I wash my hair every other day, and I brush my teeth morning and before bed. This has been my routine for as long as I can remember.

I could tell more stories, but we are experiencing a drought and I don't want to be the cause of more people needing to shower after reading them. Let's just say that when I return from staying overnight at her home, I put all my clothing into the garage to wash immediately, whether I wore it out there or not. I don't like her bringing much to my house just in case bugs have hopped a ride.

That would totally gross me out. I am like you but still wash my hair every day. I would love to skip a day or two a week but it is just too oily around the front. I can't imagine not showering daily even if I am just staying home and not exercising I still shower and some days I will take a second one if it is a warm day.
I can't imagine not brushing my teeth multiple times a day. They are going to have dental problems later that is for sure. I can't go to sleep without brushing my teeth.
I think you are normal and they are not normal. Seriously not even changing undies I would be grossed out.

This may get me in trouble, but I do the same thing with my clothes and stuff when I come home from staying at a smokers house. Just because of the smell, not worried about bugs.

There is no way that her hygiene habits are normal. I shower every morning and occasionally at night if I exercise heavily after work. I have very short hair so it stays in place pretty well so I wash it every couple of days unless I have been to gym etc. I brush my teeth at least twice a day. I wouldn't be a able to sleep if I didn't brush before going to bed. Very occasionally I will miss a shower on a Sunday if I'm not going out of the house and I haven't done anything strenuous the day before.

I'm surprised by how many in this thread are saying "most" teens lack good hygiene. That truly has not been my experience. I have two boys not long out of their teens and two that are still teens. I assure you that my water bills would defy the assertion that they haven't showered enough! And I've not really heard parents of other teens complain about poor hygiene with them. I doubt my little corner of the world is doing anything special... we just lucked up I guess with shower-happy teens. That's good to know! I wish my daughters would become shower-happy teens (even though our water bill will go up, that's one bill I would be happy to pay! . In both of my teen girls large circle of friends (big school district), it's more the girls they associate with that don't think they need showers. And they are all into sports - soccer, dance, cheerleaders, poms, etc. So lots of practices and activity. The boys sound like your boys! My daughter says the boys say they like to be clean, and not smell bad. Now why can't my girls think like that? And the smelly feet! Oh my! That's another story!

I didn't have a choice, I had to stay there. My mom was staying out there and I had to go there to see her. Plus, I had to stay with her whenever my sister went out of town. Now that my sister is losing her ranch, Mom has moved back in with me and my sister needs to come here to see her. Plus, the niece living with me is her daughter, so this is where she sees her daughter and granddaughter. She asked me if she could move in with us when the ranch is finally taken from them. I had to say no. First, I don't have an empty bedroom, which she responded to that she would just sleep on my couch. I told her I just cannot handle one more person being here. I suggested she and my niece get an apartment together close to my niece's school so she could babysit her granddaughter while her daughter is in class. That will leave me with Mom and my roommate, neither of which is a problem for me. My sister balked at the price of rental apartments, but that isn't my problem. She should have made sure she didn't lose her darned ranch. My roommate suffered a heart attack last week and will be staying at his daughter's house for 2 months at least, until he is cleared to use stairs again since his bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. I am looking forward to being able to put in a stairway chair, moving Mom back to her own bedroom that now houses my niece. And my roommate may benefit from the stair chair too. Then I will get my dining room back (mom's temporary room) and life can return to as normal as it gets around here. Once Mom passes, I'm selling this big house and buying something small that will not have any room for overnight guests! That is what a hotel is for.

We shower every single day. Even if we haven't walked outside the house, we still bathe before going to bed. Thinking of skipping just one day makes me twitchy.

I forgot your mom was with you (until reading this thread) and didn't realize you had a roommate. I don't know how you are able to take anyone on, and you have a good reason to keep it just your roommate and mom. How does your roommate feel about the niece and her daughter living there? You are really dealing with a lot!
Your plan for your sister moving near the school and living with your niece sounds like a very good plan. That way, they can live the way they like and be happy about it. And you can have a more comfortable environment for you!

I can't fathom skipping a day of anything. Ever. After the few times I've had surgery, the worst part for me was not being able to wash my hair right away. My kids are forced to bathe daily as well. My older DD is still traumatized about that time when she was 13 and we were out shopping and I told her angrily "OMG..I can SMELL YOUR HAIR". She hadn't washed it in days and days and it grossed me out. I was so mad at her. Cochina! I have a hard time watching shows like Walking Dead because all I can think of us how funky and stanky they must smell. Esp Glen and what's her name after they got busy.

You're totally normal! I shower daily and brush teeth twice daily. I only wash my hair every few days because it doesn't need it more often. The only time I didn't shower every day was when I was staying with friends in the foothills of the Himalayas and it was so cold I could only face washing about twice a week

OMG, my DH and I took his parents on a Florida vacation for their 50th wedding anniversary. I knew his Dad had been kooky as of late but we live six hours away and don't see them that often. He is 75, btw. My MIL had to beg him to shower before we went to dinner. He said 'Oh, I'm fine!' He wore the same pants and shirt for 4 full days and they were not washed in that time! MIL says she has to BEG him to brush his teeth. My husband was mostly horrified. When they come visit us once a year or so the guest room does always smell weird after they leave but I never realized... it was because of him. It makes me sad actually because I love his parents dearly and worry about them. DH talked to MIL and she said he's not depressed he's just too lazy to do anything

I shower twice a day. In the summer, sometimes 3 times a day because it is so hot here. I cannot stand getting in to bed without showering. And, I must shower in the morning to start my day. It wakes me up. But I wash my hair every other day. I wish I could go longer but it is fine and I look like a drowned rat if I don't wash it.

I dunno. I take AT LEAST 1 shower daily, some days 2. My hair-washing schedule is MWF and if I do something that makes me sweat excessively, I wash it again. Brushing teeth-a minimum of 2x daily. I also keep a toothbrush and toothpaste at work. OH, and a sundry of other toiletries. I DO NOT like to smell bad. I also don't re-wear clothing. UGH.
Ummmm. I think you are the norm.

The only time I skip a daily shower is if I am too ill to raise my head off my pillow.
I shower daily, twice daily on workdays, before and after, and twice if I am going out in the evening.
Teeth get cleaned twice or 3 times a day.
You sound perfectly normal in the hygiene department. Your sister and niece sound pretty disgusting If I am honest.

Old thread alert.
And I am pretty sure anniebygaslight did not push it up because this thread was open on my computer when I stepped away 2-3 hours ago.

Shower at least once a day. Sometimes twice if I've been exercising. Hair every few days - unless I've been exercising a lot and it's hot. Teeth 2x daily. The only time I think I haven't showered daily was when I was staying friends in the Himalayas, north west India. It was freezing and they had an outside 'bathroom' ie cold running water only, water had to be heated and taken in there in buckets The bathroom itself had no heating so everyone just showered once a week

I think being in the same clothes all weekend without showering/bathing or Brussing teeth is extreme. We are not super worried about bathing or showering every single day without fail, I often skip a day showering if I know I'm just going to the gym in the morning or to swim the next day or its my day off work and I'm not going anywheres. Brushing teeth is 2-3 times a day for all of us. We keep the house pretty clean and we are pretty clean but everyday isn't a must for us. But that wouldn't be clean enough for me, I don't like to wear clothes two days without washing them.

In our house, shower daily, brush morning and night, floss at night. Hair washing depends on the insane ideas that take hold of the kids...dry shampoo, oil of the day, vinegar...as long as their teeth are brushed I'm ok with weird hair choices.

I shower every other day if I am not going any where. I do shower when I go some where. even if I showered the day before. I have night sweats so there are days I do shower everyday. I do also wash my hair every time I shower.
I brush my teeth every day. some time 2 or 3 times.
