I thought this was a normal thing that everyone always always always have a song in their head. Tonight I was talking about this with two friends they thought it was the oddest thing ever! I am completely in shocked And googled it. So not only do I have a brain tumor and the ongoing blessing from that, I also have musical hallucinations? I never remember not having a song stuck in my head never. Looking back at my life and how hard it was to read and study because I had a song in my head and that is all I could think about was singing that song.mm My link didn't work here is the URL knowledgenuts.com/2014/02/16/some-people-have-songs-permanently-stuck-in-their-heads/All the peas have songs in their heads 24, Right? I am going to bed. Jen

Not constantly 24/7, no. But during one day I can have the same song stuck in my head, and I will start singing it in my head regularly during that day. But it's not like it's ALWAYS there every second making it difficult to think other thought. For years and years I would sing Sinatra's 'Fly Me To The Moon' in the shower. Every single shower I had for YEARS! But not for the rest of the day. I just started to associate the shower with that song I guess. Now I usually have a song in and out of my head for two, three days before the song changes. But like I said, not constantly during the day. I can't believe I am thinking so hard about this now

Not 24/7 (don't have a song in my head while sleeping) but during waking hours, yes, I almost always have a song in my head.
The song changes several times during the day.....for some reason right now, it is "Daughters" by John Mayer. Earlier today, it was Shoop by Salt N Pepa.

Nope. Only when I've been listening to something I particularly like or find irritating will it be stuck for a little while.
I do talk to myself in my head a lot but everyone does that. Don't they?!

Not 24/7 but a lot of the time. This has been the case for as long as I can remember. I do listen to a lot of music, though, as does the rest of my family.

Absolutely! I woke up with Neal Cassady drops dead by Morrissey and that progressed to My Lovely Horse from Father Ted and now it's Hallelujah by the Happy Mondays.

Almost always. Not only is there usually some random song or tune in my head, but I play several stringed instruments so my fingers are often "playing" a song like air guitar picking. That's very subtle, but I'll be tapping my fingers when DH are watching TV or holding hands and he asks me what I'm playing. Drives him crazy.

Yes, my life has a constant soundtrack. I will wake up briefly in the middle of the night and there will be a song. One thing I never have is an ear worm - my music is constantly changing.

I am another almost always. There's usually a lyric or something rolling around in my head. Right now it's the opening theme song to the show Outlander except it morphs into Billy Joel's piano man because the opening line to the theme in Outlander is "Sing me a song..." You're welcome

Almost always for me too. Recently, it's been "I Say A Little Prayer", but this morning it's "I Love the Nightlife".

I do but not 24/7. I listen to pop Christian music all the time so it is my way of talking or praising God.

YES!
Usually it is the last song that I heard.
I took my DS to school an hour ago and Boogie Shoes is still looping in my head because that was the last song I heard when I was in the car.
Also, if someone mentions a phrase that is used in a song, I connect it to that song and then that song will be in my head.
An example would be that some one said "picture frame" and my mind will go to "it's like a picture in a frame, and it remains the same" from Anita Baker's Same Ole Love (1986!).
It is very tiring : (

Yes, I have always been that way. And it is usually the last song I heard. I will get back in my car after hours and be singing the same song that is playing in my CD player.
Or I will wake up with a song in my head. Sometime they are really annoying ones from Yo Gabba Gabba. "Don't... don't... don't bite your friends!"

Before they wheeled me to the operating room as a family we said a prayer and sang a hymn. That song was in my head after surgery when I came to. One of my best memories. I had all about the base stuck in my head for months. I hate to even write that in fear. Thanks for sharing. So glad I am not the only one. Jen

I listen to music most of the day. I actually only listen to music in the car, so that song will stay until I hear another one. It works the same way with commercial jingles and tv show theme songs. There are two love commercials right now that feature Queen songs. I will always love Freddie <3

I tried explaining this to someone one day and I thought they were going to put me in a padded cell.

Not always, but I prefer when i do have a song in my head except when it gets annoyingly stuck in there!
As I read this thread, I realized I didn't have a song in my head this morning. That is, I didn't until I saw the word prayer and now it's "I say a little prayer for you."

Lately the song in my head is the insipid theme song from Clifford Puppy Days which DD has been watching every chance she gets. It's. Like. Fingernails. On. A. Chalkboard! I made her watch something else yesterday so I wouldn't throw the iPad out the window.

about a month ago I made an ATC and titled it "It's raining mail" - it was going to a pen pal... BAD IDEA I can't get "It's raining men" out of my head, every time my mind wonders I end up singing!

Not particular songs with me but rather I hear music or am constantly composing songs in my head. I play by ear and find that I hear music inspired by the most ridiculous things, like the sound of the air conditioner or heat going through the vents or 'music' from the sound or rain or wind... So in that respect, I almost always hear music in my head. Then I might hear something on the radio that gets stuck for awhile, but it's either one or the other not both.

Often, but not always, and old songs, not popular ones. I often have Delta Dawn whirling around in my head.

I get the occasional song in my head. Sometimes for a few hours, sometimes for several days. Once I had a song stuck in my head for an entire week, morning noon and night. (Blank Space by Taylor Swift). I thought I was going to go insane from that one. But I definitely have periods where there are no songs floating through my head.

I totally "think" in lyrics. My coworker was upset that he got about 3 hours of sleep the night before because of these yappy ass dogs next door that wouldn't shut up. I thought of Eminem/Dr. Dre .... "B*ch, imma kill you and them loud ass mothaf*in barkin' dogs!" ... I at least got a chuckle out of him.
I can also tell what song is going to play in about 3 notes. Doesn't matter the genre. I have everything on my radio dial from old school rap to alternative to classic rock and back.

I've had "Zombie" by the Cranberries stuck in my head for a couple of days...have no idea why! I used to ask a co-worker to suggest another song if I had one stuck in my head for too long.
