I haven't had a coffee table in years but recently decided I wanted one. I bought one that is fairly large, round, black metal and glass. I like the way it looks in the room but can't decide what to put on it. What do you have on yours?

We use an old wooden trunk as a coffee table. I don't keep anything on it, and I like it that way best. I like using it as a place for the kids to play or colour, for putting drinks and snacks on when we're watching TV.

I got rid of the coffee table when I had a fearless baby who led with his head. We replaced it with a hinged padded bench that also stores our couch blankies. I don't keep anything on it because I have asshole cats who would just shove it all onto the floor anyhow.

We have a coffee table. I didn't want one... But husband did. It took some talking but he talked me into one. We got a big rectangle wood one. I love the table. But I hate the table with our couch. We have a big sectional with recliners and the table is always in the way.

We got rid of ours. For us it was an unnecessary piece of furniture. We never have food or drinks in the living room and so we don't need a table to put things on.

We have one in the family room and one in the living room. I don't keep decorative things on them. They're covered in books, magazines, projects, electronics remotes, and food/drink (I'm good about clearing that off every evening.)

I have a large vintage wardrobe trunk in my living room and a really cool old wooded table in the family room. I think it was originally a work bench before being cut down to coffee table height. The patina and nicks and scratch marks give it so much character. On the living room trunk I have these very large glass and metal candle holders that I bought while up in Yosemite at the Ahwahnee lodge gift shop. I had been seeing them in the hallways and bathrooms around the lodge and was thrilled to find them for sale in the gift shop. I fill the bottom open space with various seasonal bits. Right now it has moss that I gathered from a mountain parking lot where some downed tree branches were temporarily stacked. Since my nieces's daughter is in the family room so much, I removed everything from that surface before she knocked it off and broke it. All that is on there now is a thick old wooden box filled with magazines and books. I have a lot of one-of-a-kind old rustic pieces mixed in with my leather furniture. My family room is my Yosemite tribute room I usually have three things on my tables with one of them shiny or glass. A neighbor was an interior designer and set up all my surfaces like that. I change things out but try to keep to her basic instructions.

I have a very large, oversized tufted ottoman. It works as extra seating or a comfy place to put our feet up. I have a large wooden antique tray with iron wrought handles that is in the center. It's a functional piece that holds drinks, candles and remote controls.

We have three. An antique flat topped steamer trunk, a vintage children's school desk (double so it's long) and a vintage walnut children's table. I keep a runner on one, but the others are empty. I like to put my feet up.

Today, I'm pretty sure there is a 12" tall Incredible Hulk wrestling with a 12" tall Spiderman decorating the coffee table along with a small stack of coasters, the remote (if I'm lucky) and YDS's fruit snack wrapper from this morning. It'll all be there when I get home

Yes we do and it is one of my most favorite pieces of furniture in my house. It belonged to my grandparents, it is a round wooden coffee table with claw feet. I keep coasters and a book about Formula 1 racing on top. Usually my magazines end up there too but I clean them off for company.

We use a nice wooden trunk that I finished myself. We keep a basket with remote controls, hand cream, etc. in it.

We have large square foot stall in between the 2 facing sofas and that is sometimes used for things other than feet. I also have a small chrome round table which goes beside the arm of one sofa.

We have a coffee table in the living room that usually has nothing on it unless it is guitar lesson day or the kids are playing a game. The family room has a leather storage ottoman (top flips over to a tray) that usually has a laptop, several books and./or magazines on it.

We have a large one in front of the loveseat(where I usually sit). Right now it has a quilted runner a stack of magazines that I need to get rid of and a spray water bottle. I spray the dogs when they act crazy when they see the animals in the yard...squirrels, bunnies, groundhogs during the day and the possums, raccoons, deer and skunks at night.

We have two in our family room ... it's a pretty big room One is wooden with inset slate tiles on the top ... all that sits on it is the TV remote ... The other is a wooden bench with four drawers below that we inherited from my late FIL ... nothing sits on it ... I love having two tables because it gives me lot's of space to lay out food for my Book Club ladies when they come over every month

Yes. Feet.
It's basically a place for people to put their feet while watching Tv. That way more than one person can "lie down" on the couch.

No, I have a reclining sofa and loveseat in the family room so a coffee table would have been in the way. It felt strange at first not having one until I realized that all my previous ones were nothing but junk collectors.

We don't have one. I think it is just a place to collect dust.
Although....when we have game night, folks have to put their drinks on the floor or just hold them. That is the only time I notice.

Yes, I have a long rectangular one. I do not keep anything decorative on it. It gets a work out on laundry day. I sit on the sofa and fold and put things in piles for distribution. Doing that in the livingroom helps insure that I put the stuff away.

No, I don't have a coffee table - my living room is fairly small and I feel it is more open without one. Plus, (in my case) it was just an area to collect things (magazines, mail, etc).

We have an oak barrel lazy susan made by my uncle, which holds the remotes and usually some magazines.

We have a faux leather storage ottoman in both the living room and the family room. We don't keep anything on them but they are super nice to put our feet on when we are relaxing.

We have an oval wood and glass coffee table that matches our end tables. It is currently in the basement buried under a pile of our grandson's toys.
It got sent to the basement because it has, along with the glass top, an oval shaped lower shelf. Our mini-doxie walks around on the shelf and our beagles stand on the glass top. I really should put it in a garage sale.
In addition, we now have a recliner-style couch, plus the doxie can't get on the couch by herself, so I bought a small ottoman for her to use.

Well, I have one, but it lives in the attic. It was dangerous when the kids were little (it was on wheels on a hardwood floor, not ideal for toddlers!) and the sofa we have now (sectional with chaise) does not leave space for one. We have a train table that we use as a coffee table in the play room!! LOL. My DS has finally decided to give up the trains, but my DD took it over for her Barbies (storage drawers underneath). My DH uses it to hold music during jams. I guess we will have it forever!

our coffee table is old (70's era, free from my BF's mom- I hate it) and there are a couple candle holders on it... and place mats, because we eat in the living room most of the time, lol! I kind of want to get rid of it because we have two large leather ottomans in the room, so having them plus the coffee table just looks clunky in my opinion-- but then where would I eat my dinner??
