Does anyone know of any blogs for make up looks for the over 40s or have any good make up tips? I'm starting to think that I need to change how I apply my make up and what products I use. I'm not wrinkly by any means but the colours I've always used and been attracted to don't look as good as they used to. I know I look worn out at the minute and my skin is suffering from the effects of being stressed out all the time, I just want to appear put together on the surface. Any amazing products to recommend for faking that I've had a decent nights sleep?

A few years ago I started using Philosophy skin care products along with a Clarisonic. Major difference for my skin. As for makeup I use a lot of It cosmetics, Bare Minerals, Bobbi Brown, etc. I'd suggest getting a consult at Sephora or Ulta. That way you can "try on" different products and get some real life advice.

I hate how my skin has changed. I am 48 and I have noticed over the last 5 years or so that my skin isn't nearly as firm as it used to be. I don't have a lot of wrinkles, I am lucky in that, but the only way I can describe it is that it is getting softer. Like that crepe-like skin your grandmother had. I am not sure there is really a whole lot I can do about it though. It has definitely changed how I do make up though. I was always a bit of a minimalist when it came to make up, but I find I have to do a bit more than I used to get a more polished look.

Please do not get me started on this subject. Just please, direct me to the blogs and videos that will change my life (and subtract 20 years from my face, of course). Thank you.

I'm 37, but I get dark circles from no sleep, and I swear by the Touche Eclat highlight/concealer pen by Yves St. Laurent.
The trick is to do an inverted triangle under your eye by your nose instead of a half circle under your eye when you apply concealer.
I also use Estee Lauder's night repair serum, an eye cream, and Philosophy's Hope is Not Enough Night every night. For day I use a moisturizer with sunscreen and Estee Lauder's Idealist for days when I don't need to wear foundation--I've discovered that if I keep my skin moisturized, it doesn't get blotchy and need foundation to even it out.
I also LOVE Nars Multiple sticks for blush/bronzer. I have the 'orgasm' for natural looking blush, and 'Napali Coast' for a peachy bronzer/under cheek contour. For a powder bronzer, I love Dior's Diorskin Poudre Shimmer shimmer powder 002. There's a couple shades in the container and work well for the top of the cheekbones, t zone.
I love Sephora. They have a camera with a computer system that will tell you exactly what your skin tone is and gives you a list of different products that match your shade. I'm a very fair porcelain with blue undertones, not pink or yellow, so there's very few products that match for me. I'm so happy with the Tarte BB cream that they found for me.
Sephora also has a great return policy and gives samples. They encourage you to be happy, and if a product doesn't work, they take it back cheerfully.
I also get a lot of my products at Nordstrom because I get points for every dollar I spend that turns into $20 gift certificates plus other benefits like personal shopping and free tailoring. Nordstrom also has 10% off days, and nobody gives any sort of discount on cosmetics. Nordstrom also has a huge selection of samples--they'll even make a sample for you if they don't have one, even for their fragrances.
I'm also interested in more blogs and youtube channels because so much of what I find is geared towards teens and 20 somethings.
My favourite eye makeup company is Urban Decay, although my favourite mascara is Dior. I do want to try the Lancome hypnose since my eyelashes are really long and get in the way when I wear glasses.
I would love Bobbi Brown if I wasn't allergic. I do love their face oil, although I just created my own blend. Josie Maran also has the most amazing oils and lotions. I'm a huge fan of her moisturizing nail polish removers that actually smell good. I just tried their eye liner pencils and love them. I got them on Haute Look for $4.

My absolute go-to is Lisa Eldridge. She's a British make up artist and has 101 fantastic videos on her site, many aimed at 40+ age group and done in a way that is easily understood and copied. She also tackles all the things we seal with like uneven skin tone, dark circles, not knowing how to choose foundation etc etc I can't link on my phone but its her name .com

I am also a big fan of Lisa Eldridge. Make- up is all about technique, knowing your style and what looks good on you and makes you feel good!

I'm interested in light, natural-looking coverage without having to apply a bunch of primers and/or go through a million steps.

I like getting the monthly ipsy bag. (I am not pushing you to sign up under me at all!) But I love getting stuff to try. The last bag had some very bold colors of lip gloss and I almost gave them away but my cousin told me to try them. Needless to say, I will be going to Sephora on Monday to buy some more. I also like going to Sephora or Ulta (make up store with lots of brands) and having the people there show me stuff. They have always been so helpful. They are not promoting only one brand because they have several. I think they know your age and what trends work well for what. Just something to think about. Also have fun

When I was in my mid 40s, I felt I needed a change and ended up at the Bobbi Brown counter. They redid my makeup (free) and it really changed the way I was applying things. The downside is the makeup itself is expensive, but I bought it little by little. They give you a very natural look that brightens you up. I highly recommend that line.

I love Angie at. Hotandflashy and Lisa Eldridge as already posted. Angie is interesting, because she tries a lot of different treatments and reports back. She looks younger now than when she started her channel but is also very good with makeuo application. She is a huge fan of retinol.

I know I am constantly touting Perfectly Posh on here but seriously that stuff is the bomb.com. You asked for specific products... I've been using their products for the past few years, hit and miss. I have a terrible time with bags/dark circles under my eyes. I have just ordered their Sweet Young Thing and Vitamin C Fairy to try to correct that. Everything else I have used by them has worked wonderfully, so I am really hopeful They have a primer called Wonder Under and I just love it. Like Lucy, sometimes I love it so much I skip the powder foundation that I use. I really wish I had started taking great care of my skin in my younger years. I had not-so-great skin but I guess I was in denial that I would grow old and my face would show my age. I never used moisturizer but now I use (Posh of course) Moisture 911. It works so well, I feel as though even though I didn't start in time, and I might not ever 'catch up', at least I am doing well from here on out. P.S. I do not sell Posh. I used to and I still keep on as a consultant but only for my own personal discount. It's just good stuff, and that is what I need now.
As for makeup tips, I will be watching some Lisa Eldridge shortly!

I haven't found my perfect one yet I am probably not the person to ask as I always seem to like everything. I've been using Laura Geller Spackle and I like it. I've used Smashbox and Clinique and Laura Mercier and Benefit and liked them all. I just tried a sample of IT Cosmetics Serum No. 50 (something like that) primer and loved it. I think I'll get that for next time.

Another excellent Primer is the one in the Smashbox range which is sold in Boots beauty departments.
